In early May we did this on the Carnival Miracle. We had an aft facing balcony. We spent most of the day on our balcony because we could see both sides as well as straight behind us. Couldn't have asked for s better view!!! It helped that it was also a nice sunny day. By far one of the most scenic trips I've ever been on.
I loved every second…….. the excursion was our favorite. My adult boys and husband loved it God’s creation. We were so appreciative to be there . Warm cruise are great too but this was a once in a lifetime and God willing we will go back. July seemed to be warmer than y’all experienced. In the 60’s
I am a warm weather chick but Alaska is one of my very favorite cruises. We did a float plane excursion to to Tacu River Lodge, hands down best excursion and best ever salmond I have ever eaten. Loved every minute of it, with that said, we are counting down until our pretest then celebrity cruise.
The Tracy arm fjord was by far the coolest part of my cruise! The water was so green and the mountains were just gorgeous! On our donors day we didn’t make it all the way to the glacier but what we saw was absolutely breathtaking! And the ice oh my goodness the ice it was so blue! I was also sailing on the spirit and sitting in the port windows in the jungle watching the view was stunning.
A cruise to Glacier Bay gets you right up to the Glacier edge. (Norweigen).... a park ranger came on board and did talks over the loudspeaker pointing out animals and whales and birds as we sailed up GB.
We are going on June 20, 2023 and your video really helped us to see how it is on the way there. I loved how Kelly was all bundled up I know I will be the same way. I am also glad that they offer blankets. Thank you for the fantastic video!
We were on Norwegian bliss last week and we were on the bow of the ship for 2 1/2 hours wrapped with blankets standing to get the glimpse of the glaciers. No regrets, we loved the experience especially with kids.
We did this cruise on the Carnival Legend back in August 2017. The ship then was able to get within 1/2 mile from the glacier. It was funny because my sis and bro in law paid for the excursion, and we were able to waive to each other. LOL Beautiful ride up through the Fjord.
I loved Tracy Arm Fjord. I have gone on a bunch of Alaska Cruises with my older Dad who loved Alaska. My favorite ones departed from Vancouver BC because you sail along the inside of Vancouver Island. Especially heading south. On one cruise on the last night, the moon rose gorgeously after the sun set. A glass of wine sitting outside talking with other passengers was the dreamiest way to end the cruise.
Yes I did that excursion & from my 5th Alaskan cruise these are the best shots I have ever been able to take & I was a professional photographer before for 20 years. Great video. The best $ you will ever spend.
We sailed the first of June 2024 on the Konnigsdam and took the excursion up to the glacier, hands down the best day in Alaska for us. We enjoyed this much more than Glacier Bay. Dress for it, expect the worst and hope for the best with the weather. Either way this is a must do excursion.
My wife and I found a warm spot on the 11th floor (1 down from the observation deck) against the ventilation louvers where warm came out, pretty soon a crowd gathered. But it was just enough break to venture around some more. Next time try it out. We just got back yesterday from our cruise.
Great advice about the glacier tour. When I did this trip August '21, I also regretted not taking the glacier tour at Tracy Arm. I booked a repeat cruise for May '23 and have already reserved the excursion months ago to avoid FOMO. Still love your videos, thanks for what you do!
Just came across this video. Well done! Love it! My wife and I have been on two Alaskan cruises (June & August) and we were blessed with great weather each time. Our most recent time it reached 80 degrees. The weather definitely plays a part in making or breaking the trip! Take care and keep up the great work!
Great video. I booked the excursion several months ago and got the last ticket available for our September cruise. So your correct you better book it early. Safe travels 👍
Hi Jason and Kelli. Although I have done 18 Cruises with Carnival, vast majority of Eastern, Western and Southern Caribbean, and an 11 day Hawaii Cruise, I have never done Alaska. No desire for the cold weather and viewing mountains or glaciers. I have also done 5 NCL Cruises all Caribbean and 1 Royal Caribbean, Eastern Caribbean. Thank you for the video. 😎👍
Please do not have regrets just make a plan to return. It was beautiful and stunning if you do go back my suggestion is do the later excursion not the first one early in the morning. You see more as the day warms. We took our family for the first time to Alaska in June. We did the 10-day round trip out of San Fran. I booked only 2 excursions one was the train in Skagway we really wanted the 8 hour excursion but due to Canada it was not an option. The other was this glacier excursion. We loved both so much. So glad we did it. In Juneau and Victoria caught an excursion on the dock. Icy straight just loved this port so much. But prior to going we thought ok bucket list going once that's it. Well we feel in love with Alaska. Planning a return via cruise drive.
I went on my first cruise to Alaska in mid May 2022. The temps were above normal but we only wore out heavy coats, gloves and hats when we went to Glacier Bay because there are so many glaciers and when we were in Ketchikan because that day was cold and rainy. The rest of the time we're wore light jackets. At that time the mountains were covered with snow and it was amazing. It is the most beautiful place I've ever been. Pictures just don't do it justice. The mountains are gorgeous, with incredible peaks of different shapes. The small icebergs and icefloats are so pretty and their blue color is so interesting. The glaciers are something you have to see to believe, the size and color can't be captured by photographs. I was taking pictures and waiting for that crack of thunder sound right before the glacier drops big chunks of ice into the water, called "calving", and I thought God created this magnificent landscape and here we all are standing on this ship waiting for it fall apart. I loved the crab boat tour in Ketchikan as I am fan of Deadliest Catch. I learn a lot and got to see dozens of eagles up close when they came out to the boat. Denali was wonderful, the Caribou, bear, moose, porcupine and Dall sheep were were something you have to see on the Tundra Wilderness Tour. I would love to go back to Alaska again. Thank you for the great video, I didn't get to go to this area but it will be on my agenda next time.
We went on this cruise the first week of June. It was BEAUTIFUL weather! Sunny, clear, and 50-60 degrees! I too regretted not doing the excursion. I expected to be able to be closer to the glacier. Had I seen this video prior to cruising, I would have definitely done the excursion. As of June 2024, it was $250.00 per adult. All were full.
Just an update to our cruise that ended on Aug 10th. When we sailed up the fjord the captain was able to sail well beyond the small island you see in the foreground. Possibly due to less ice. From the ship we were able to see the entire face of the glacier as well as some awesome calving. I'm not great an estimating distances but I would say the ship probably stopped 1 to 1/1/2 miles from the glacier. My wife and I did do the excursion and was told we would get a close as 1/4 from the glacier. Once we got underway on the excursion the Spirit turned and headed back towards the entrance of the fjord. Our excursion captain took us to the second arm, north arm I believe, of the Sawyer Glacier so we had closeup views of both faces of the glacier.
I'm glad I found The Travel Scouts as their videos are so much fun to watch. I do have to laugh about the nekkidness comment, come on it's art. My family and I sailed to Alaska several years ago on the Legend, same class as the Spirit. It was the only cruise I've been on where I didn't want to get off. When we went in July there was too much ice in Tracy Arm so we sailed up a different Fjord but it was gorgeous. We didn't have a balcony so my wife and I camped out by a window all day and just watched the scenery. I had wanted to book the Tracy Arm excursion as we didn't on our previous Alaskan cruise. I didn't see the excursion listed on our upcoming trip but went back and looked and it's actually listed under Seattle and not Tracy Arm. We are going back on the Spirit in a couple of weeks and watching this video has gotten me more excited. After watching this video I will now ensure I pack a beanie and gloves as well as my GoPro. Awesome video and a very fun couple to watch!!
@@TheTravelScouts I did watch your video on Tracy Arm Fjord and you wishing you had done the excursion. At first I couldn’t find it so thought it wasn’t being offered. After your comment I went back and looked and it was listed under Seattle (?). I’m booked as we didn’t do our first time either. We’re excited!
@@TheTravelScouts hi, we just got back to Seattle after our cruise. The weather ran from hot (cruising back from Ketchikan) to cold, windy and wet. We stayed on the boat in Juneau since we had nothing planned and the weather was crappy. Tracy Arm Fjord was decent, cloudy, sunny and a little rain.
Being from Texas I'm looking forward to escaping the summer heat on our Alaska trip. It is nice to experience something different. Do excited to see your videos. We are on the Spirit the end of August.
It was one of many highlights of Alaska cruise. Sunny & warm every where. Sailed mid July. Our Cruise ship Rhapsody of the seas was able to go right up to glacier and slow turn in basin so everyone had great view. 👍😎🇨🇦
It’s on bucket list. But I will be needing wheelchair . I would like to do it before I’m in it full time . Your shows make me want to go nowww. Than you 👏👏👏👵🏻❤️
I’ve been to Alaska once before. In 2003, for our parents’ 50th anniversary. Even though I’m a tropical beach loving girl, I loved the Alaskan experience and have been dying to go back! Getting that chance in July 2025. Just us siblings this time, as our parents have passed. Doing Tracy Arm Fjord this time instead of Glacier Bay. Can. Not. Wait!!! We are booking and aft balcony, so will likely spend a fair amount of time out there.
I just recently found your channel and I really enjoy it. Quick and to the point. I am going on my first cruise ever and it is to Alaska. Thanks for sharing all your information!
We were on the Splendor on June 7th, we have done this cruise three times and will be doing again next year. We have done the small boat excursion and it was worth going at least once. Although I am Canadian I am not a cold weather girl but my Southern husband loves this cruise.
I'm going on my 1st Alaskan cruise on the miracle on August 22nd. This video made me super excited for Tracy arm.Thank you for sharing! PS- You guys are too cute!
Really appreciate your videos on the Carnival Spirit to Alaska. Learning so much. They really have me looking forward to the ship! We sail on her in August. Thank you!
Two things about this video, BTW I am watching a lot of Alaska cruise videos preparing for this summer. 1. I subscribed to your channel because you praise God in all you do, from asking for prayers to reading your Bible daily. 2. Try mixing hot chocolate with your coffee, I call it a cheap mocha and find it really enhances the OTC coffee. This will be our second cruise, our first was a 3 day Bahamas cruise 7 years ago so I feel we are still newbies. Our Alaska cruise is three months away, and while I don't want to rush through a mid-west summer, I am looking forward to this adventure to the last frontier.
Thank you for Sharing your Videos!!!!! My Family Just might be taking an Alaskan 2 week Cruise next year! Please Share more so we are better prepared!!!! Thus Far we have only taken Tropical Cruises! And Only on Carnival! Looking forward to more videos!!!! Jacqueline!!!!
If you want help booking, Kellie is a travel agent and can help you find the perfect cruise for your family. You can email her at thetravelscouts@gmail.com :)
Love Alaska. 6 times on 4 different lines and booked another for next summer! We did the small boat excursion in Tracy Arm (we were on the Splendor June 7-14) and it was one of the highlights of our cruise! I have so many photos of seals and seal pups surrounded by ice and there's just no comparison of what you see of the glacier from the small boat compared to the cruise ship.
We are going back to Alaska for a 3rd time next year. The on Y excursion we booked so far is the Tracy Arm Fjord explorer. Glacier Bay is amazing if you get the chance as well.
We have done the Alaska cruise once, and we loved it. We chose a cruise that did Glacier Bay, and the ship gets much closer to the large glacier. It was amazing, and we would love to go again if we are ever able to schedule one.
I have been on many Alaska cruises….. so many that I’ve lost count. I agree. If at all possible, you should take that excursion. One time we had it booked and the ship substituted Dawes Glacier for Sawyer due to ice in the fjord. It was very disappointing in comparison to doing the excursion in Tracy Arm Fjord. The small boat can get so much closer than the cruise ship does. So many cruises go to Dawes now instead of Sawyer. Princess and HAL along with some NCL ships go to Glacier Bay. As far as my preferences for glacier viewing, these are my top choices in order: 1. College Fjord (multiple glaciers with lots of otters and seals, 2. Hubbard Glacier (very large and advancing, so you get a LOT of calving, 3. Tracy Arm Fjord (super blue and lovely scenery), 4. Glacier Bay (world heritage site and so large a cutout of the entire bay that was caused by the Margerie Glacier retreating). I have no affinity to Dawes Glacier whatsoever. I think the only reason so many ships go there is because it’s more accessible for the mega ships. I travelled with a friend who had never been on an Alaskan cruise and she was happy with Dawes…but she didn’t have anything to compare it to. We booked a Carnival cruise in 2025 just to go to the Tracy Arm Fjord.
Carnival’s hot chocolate is generally really good. 😋 I hope they didn’t run out with those cold temps. 😜 But seriously, it looks absolutely beautiful and we look forward to cruising Alaska at least once in our lifetime. 😁
We didn’t book it when we went but definitely will be on our next trip to Alaska. I think you need to be closer to the glacier to see it in all its glory.
We've done two Alaska cruises (Holland America and Princess) and are considering doing another this October (NCL)! It'll be super BRRRR in October!!! Our first one went to the Tracy Arm Fjord and I loved it. Our ship went A LOT closer to the glacier than yours did...and there were no excursions. Our cruise ship (the Amsterdam...not Nieuw Amsterdam) allowed us to go out onto the bow. It was fantastic! It rained a bit...I think it was June...and it was very cold, but I didn't care at all. That was my first cruise and I'm still amazed by how quiet and beautiful it was in the fjord!
Can you please tell me who is singing the first song and what the name of the song. LOVED ALASKA it was our favorite trip. My husband always wanted to go but I have to confess that I never wanted to because I thought I would freeze. He ended up having some heart problems and I figured we needed to go and we are so glad we did because it was AMAZING. 👍👍
Very informative! I finally talked hubby into going on a cruise and he chose Alaska. Our 20 & 13 yo children said they’re interested too! I’m like Kelly and prefer warm weather, but will go anywhere and do just about anything that includes the hubby and kids. Thanks for the great videos! 😊
After about 40 cruises, we finally decided to do an Alaska cruise about 8 years ago - it was to be our once in a lifetime’Bucket List” trip. Needless to say, we loved it! We will be going back again for the 6th time next year!! If you see a cruise that goes into College Fjord, I’d highly recommend it!! The scenery is UNBELIEVABLE!
Hi! I work on the small boat that takes passengers from the ship to the glacier. I think a big reason why you maybe didn’t like it was because you didn’t get to hear a naturalists narrations. To the untrained eye, it all does look the same! But that’s where I come in! Living in Juneau, I know a lot about the area, and super unique things to the fjord that cruise ship passengers wouldn’t know to look for. If y’all ever find your way back up here, i 10/10 recommend the excursion :)
Just got back today from a 10 day Alaska cruise in the Miracle. Sailed into SF at 5 am. I took so many dawnbreak photos of SF this morning. Tracy Arm was awesome. We had great weather the whole time! Book a suite if you can.
Will be doing Alaska for the 4th time in Sept, 14 day cruise. We’ve done inside & outside passage, inside is better. Also May & August sailings, May was freezing cold. Bucket list was Panama Canal, in Feb we’re doing Hawaii, but we will be doing an Asia Cruise tour, can’t wait. I live in Canada not far from Banff, so we appreciate the beauty, Alaska is one of our favourite places to travel to
Thanks for showing us a little of what to expect. I am going on a cruise next June to Alaska (HAL). We are not going into Tracy Arm, just stopping to drop off those doing the Tracy Arm excursion (my friends and I will be doing the excursion). The ship goes on to Juneau, and the excursion boat will take us to Juneau once we’re finished with the excursion. Looking forward to the excursion. We also have a whale watching excursion planned for late afternoon/early evening in Juneau. Hoping it’s a long and wildlife filled day! I’m a cold weather person myself. Tropics are pretty, but too hot (heat and humidity kill me and make me feel ill). Much prefer mountains and snow.
Love Your Videos ! I am more like Kelli my wife more like Jason! We were laughing saying I would be inside in a blanket she would be outside filming and enjoying the rain and cold weather! #bam
Kelly is so darn cute. Capt. Thank you for your service. I was a C-130 Crew Chief Ssgt Wise
The Tracy Arm Fjord was one of my favorite travel days ever. The chilly weather just added to it. I found it breathtaking.
Loved seeing the Bible study early in the morning...
I just now noticed that too. 🎉
Isn’t that what everyone does?
In early May we did this on the Carnival Miracle. We had an aft facing balcony. We spent most of the day on our balcony because we could see both sides as well as straight behind us. Couldn't have asked for s better view!!! It helped that it was also a nice sunny day. By far one of the most scenic trips I've ever been on.
Been to Alaska 5 times, going again next month. Always something new to see and enjoy.
I’ll be cruising Alaska for the first time in May, and my first time booking a suite! I’m not a big fan of cold but Alaska’s a bucket list cruise!
Sailing on the carnival miracle in August for our 50th anniversary, thanks for the video.
So beautiful seeing Tracy Arm again! Wish you could have experienced a clearer day.
Us too! The fog was really bad at times!

So admire that you two can study the Bible together in the morning!
We loved our Alaska cruise (2013): it never got very cold because AK was having a heatwave that week. A light jacket was all we ever had to wear.
Wonderful!
LOVE yall and LOVE the way y'all start your day. My hubby and I do the same.

Did Tracey Arm cruise back in 2010 on the Norwegian Sun, loved the whole 7 days cruise from Vancouver to Skagway and back, was awesome.
So good, we are on the same ship next week, we can’t wait, thx for the tips.

Loved your very honest review of your cruise. We are planning an Alaskan cruise for next August and your hints are very helpful!
I will take an Alaska cruise over a Caribbean cruise any day. So much more to see in Alaska. Both cruises there that I was on, we were wearing shorts.
Oh nice! We keep hearing people say they wear shorts. We just didn't have that same experience :)
THANKS FOR THE GREAT VIDEO, WE ARE GOING TO ALASKA FOR THE 1ST TIME IN JUNE THIS YEAR. WE WILL BE ON THE CARNIVAL LUMINOSA. CAN'T WAIT.

@@stacyeadams2892 also from SF??
@@marivega3294 yep!
Thanks, was wondering what to expect - so looking forward to it!!
So excited going on this cruise..same ship 7/21
Sailing on the Spirit in July. Thanks for these great videos!
What a fun video, we sail next week on the spirit. We did book two Interior rooms instead of one balcony for our family of four….BIG regret.
Give us ski country, you can keep the Caribbean, lol. Aren't we blessed to have these choices and see more of our great country?
Will be cruising in Sept, ready to layer and enjoy the view. Thanks for sharing
Hi Beth! Yes, it is very relaxing and it is beautiful. I (Jason) miss it! Hope you have a super cruise!
So true! We saw so many amazing pictures from people that went on the excursion. We were so jealous! Lol
We are going back to Alaska for a 3rd time next year. The on
Y excursion we booked so far is the Tracy Arm Fjord explorer. Glacier Bay is amazing if you get the chance as well.
@@roger25375 Agreed! I always tell friends if Alaska is a once-in-a-lifetime cruise for them, to choose one with Glacier Bay. Phenomenal!
Before blue iguana…hubby loved the pico on the main buffet for his eggs….he misses it, but tends to do blue iguana for breakfast
Those burritos are so good!
Great filming and explainations
We have done the Alaska cruise once, and we loved it. We chose a cruise that did Glacier Bay, and the ship gets much closer to the large glacier. It was amazing, and we would love to go again if we are ever able to schedule one.
Thank you for the wonderful video! I’m planning to go in June! This is really helpful!
Can't wait going this summer
Looking forward to our cruise on the Carnival Spirit in a few weeks! I love this ship. Thank you so much for sharing.
Really is a great ship! Enjoy your cruise!
Looking forward to Alaska cruise next week
How was ur cruise!? Are u back? Any tips ? How’s was the weather? I will be heading over there this coming Tuesday.
@@dsweetness19 had a great time. Several days of fog, Glacier day was foggy and we didn't get very close to Glacier. Enjoyed it very much
Be sure and have rain gear, and be prepared for lots of walking,
Thanks for all your videos
Hi Mary! Thank you so much for your kind words!
Thank you for posting this video. Going on my 1st Alaska Cruise next summer over 4th of July. Hoping the weather will be a little warmer.
Thanks for this! We are taking the same ship to Alaska in July 2023.
Oh and how I cannot wait to see your pictures of Alaska!!!
We didn’t book it when we went but definitely will be on our next trip to Alaska. I think you need to be closer to the glacier to see it in all its glory.
I always wanted to go to Alaska hope to go next year loved your videos of Alaska
Going to Alaska June 2023!
Amazing job on this video, it's really detailed and super helpful! Balcony:✔
I hope to one day as well. It's so nice to go with family and make memories that last. Happy cruising! I hope y'all enjoy it. God bless.
I live in Canada not far from Banff, so we appreciate the beauty, Alaska is one of our favourite places to travel to
I would like to do it once. That would be enough for me. Not just weather. I like cooler weather. I can stand winter better than summer.
We did the Tracy Arm Fjord on the Carnival Legend in 2019 and absolutely loved it!
*Edit: It was 105* F back home, so we were glad to be cold!
Thanks you guys !! Heading there in August !! Can't wait !!
Yay! Have a wonderful time and hoping for beautiful weather for you!
@@TheTravelScouts Hoping for the good weather for sure !!
Us too, the 24th!
@@l.lambert5534 let's cross our fingers & toes...lol
You remind me of Howard from Better Call Saul. Thanks for the video guys.
#bam
That good hot chocolate on Carnival, I do half coffee/ half hot chocolate 👍🏾👍🏾
Is the hot chocolate included?
@@l.lambert5534 Yes. Usually available in several locations.
I do that too. Enjoy mochas.
WOW. i will have to get to Tracy Arm on my next Alaska cruise
