@JML0726 He's Canadian. He currently performs in England. He doesn't have an English accent that he's trying to suppress. Instead, he has likely picked up little speech conventions of London, if anything.
I love this version for what it is (a beautiful acoustic version), and would happily listen to it on its own, but I agree that it doesn't fit with the tone of the musical.
