There is actually some evidence for this. Some believe the first few kills were the original zodiac killer, and after paul stine it was a copycat.
If you read the book you’ll find that the event was exaggerated for the movie. In real life Graysmith still visited Vaughn but the basement scene didn’t happen and they actually just sat upstairs discussing the evidence. What happened was that Graysmith was tipped off about Vaughn’s affiliation with Rick Marshall and how he was storing film canisters for Marshall that showed the murders recorded on film without knowledge of the contents. So Graysmith went to talk with Vaughn about leads on the case but it is actually true that he felt quite unsafe about how much Vaughn knew as he explains in the book.
I think that the scene was showing that Graysmith had grown so paranoid and obsessed over the case that he started to think that anyone with just the smallest of connections was the Zodiac. For Vaughan, it was the fact he had a basement (which is a callback to Zodiac saying he had a basement and the police recognizing that few houses in California did) and he made the poster that supposedly had some slight similarities to the Zodiac handwriting. I think the creepy moment where it sounds like someone is walking upstairs is just the creaking of an old house. Graysmith was just at a heightened point of paranoia. Unfortunately, the film balked a little bit in the end by making it seem like ALA was almost unquestionably the Zodiac, which just isn't the case. I wish they stayed with it being unclear whether ALA, Marshall, a suspect that wasn't even mentioned in the movie (Kane, Gaikowski) or someone not even under anyone's radar was the Zodiac.
The clip for “POLICE DID NOT QUESTION THE COUPLE WHO SOLVED THE FIRST ZODIAC CIPHER” doesn’t relate to that. This scene is Inspector Toschi asking the father to interview the eyewitnesses who saw the suspect fleeing the Stine murder scene.
Yeah and also the claim that it was wrong anyway is false. The movie just refrained from detailing further investigation because that would be irrelevant in the grand scheme.
There's a lot of things that weren't included one thing I know I don't believe Gostkowski is the zodiac but he followed Darlene Ferrin first to New York and then back to California. And worked in the same building although with a different paper as Darlene's first husband. @@jenniferacker It is not that guy ...trust me. I am not sure if that is your personal belief as you said they. The evidence on him is not convincing and words that got from using his name are an incorrect cipher method. I have seen multiple stuff on it and there is basically no tangible evidence. I am saying it is far from being solved still and is almost certainly not that guy. I have other reasons why it is impossible for it to be him but will not elaborate. There is almost nothing tying him to the crimes. I am just saying I think the Gary Poste theory is unreasonable but anybody is free to think whatever they want but if you look into you will find there is literally nothing tying him to Zodiac tangibly besides a couple social media posts that were questionable but maybe not even made by him (trolls or set-ups).
He did, the movie had that part correct. He said he had a 8/10 degree of certainty. The problem is that this isn't as strong evidence as you'd hope for a few reasons. 1) Eyewitness accounts can be inaccurate. 2) I believe he identified him around 20 years after, memory can fade over time. 3) Mageau's account changed several times. He initially said he didn't get a good look at the shooter IIRC. Also the flashlight was in his eyes and it happened quite fast. I still find Allen to be the most compelling suspect but unfortunately the hard evidence was never there (fingerprint in Paul Stines cab didn't match, DNA didn't match). I guess we'll never know.

7:10 According to Graysmith..That sentance alone concidering how much he has lied about bunch of things should raise suspicion. Can we believe anything he says?
I thought the movie was pretty good but they should have had more time go by between the crimes/crime scenes to build up suspense they just had all the crimes committed right at the beginning and I thought that ruined the suspense of the movie.
The point of the active/passive writing split in the movie is to show how the zodiac investigation started vs. how it continued/ ended. It was a great way to show how hard it was for the police to investigate. The action of the investigation died down, and so did it in the movie.
Bryan Hartnell and Celia Sheppard not a couple? I’m not so sure about that, I know that Fellow Survivor Michael Mageau wasn’t dating Darlene Ferrin they were just friends but I’ve never heard of Bryan and Celia not being a couple… hmm

There is a tape of him complaining to his FBI handler and the handler is consoling him saying it wasn't his fault... lots of cockroaches under the black operations carpet...
I don't know if I believe the story that they're just old friends because as shown in the movie which may or may not been accurate she was resting with her head on his chest. And he offered himself up first because he said he couldn't bear to see her harmed.

It's crazy to me that Zodiac ended up being some random guy no one even was suspect of
He was.
@@kathykline7202 when?
Poste has not been confirmed as the Zodiac, he's just another in a long line of suspects. Police have not agreed with the group that 'cracked' the Zodiac case on Poste being conclusively the Zodiac. Unfortunately we'll probably never know who he was for sure.
This movie is one of Hollywood peaks
That fucking basement scene scared the shit out of me 😂
Melvin Belli (Bell-Eye)
Did Graysmith actually meet Darlene's sister? And did Darlene's sister know about Arthur Leigh Allen?
this and gone girl are the best thriller movies in the last 10-15 years
Right or Wrong the movie is fantastic!
The balding dude that's the main suspect sounds ALOT like the dude with mask on that killed the couple by the pond
Hartnell and Shepard were just being friendly? They previously dated. How naive can you get?
I don't think they actually caught the zodiac they had a suspect Arthur Lee Allen but he died before trial
Love this movie
It's pronounced Melvin "Bell-Eye" - not Belly !!!!
Lots of love from Bangladesh 😍💖😍🥳🥳💖💖💖💖💖💖 Please reveal about Disney's dark mystery!!!
Jack the Ripper also sent letters (at least one with a victim's kidney) to the authorites.
Don't they think they found out who he is?
Hi, they are thinking it was a guy named Gary F Poste.
@@jenniferacker yes, I had not reached the part of the video where they mentioned it when I commented. I seen it on infographics yesterday.
@@zachgraber2496 what about Leigh?
Didn't mageau identified Leigh to be the zodiac?
@@thelunaticfringe9511 He was the favourite suspect of Dave toschi . I also did a deep research and I also think that it was allen . Why would he write a typewritten apology ?
No zodiac letter was sent untill he was in prison . As soons as he got out , a new zodiac letter was received.
@@thedarkside2139 Yeah with Allen it all seems to line up perfectly, makes it all the more mysterious that they were never able to get anything concrete on him.
@@thelunaticfringe9511 You wanna discuss the whole case ?
@@thedarkside2139 Sure. What are your thoughts?
Wasn't there a copycat on in NY years later, in the 80's/90's?
Melvin Belly? This narrator obviously does not know her history. One of America’s most infamous and flamboyant lawyers. Melvin’s last name is pronounced, Bell-eye.
easily one if not the best movie based on a serial killer, still getting haunted by the ending
Better than Silence of the Lambs?
@@wellnesspathforme6236 i said one of the best, also, silence of the lamb which is a masterpiece of a movie, is not based on a true story
@@NicolasSilvaVasault They are both great. What do you think of Mindhunter the series?
@@wellnesspathforme6236 fucking awesome, it was the reason i subscribed to netflix, too bad is highly possible that we will never see season 3
@@NicolasSilvaVasault You like analyzing and trying to solve crimes, right? So do I. I like the data processing and discernment aspect of it. THEN I figured out the fraud of debt-based money and realized who the REAL CRIMINALS were... let me know if you are interested in learning more -- it is fascinating. A teaser -- the debt-based money system is zero-sum, which means one person's net monetary wealth is another's inextinguishable debt, by definition... debt-based money creates poverty!
OK, let's get more direct -- those who control the money system have been experimenting on humans and have manipulated the food and medicine supply to drive pathological OCD behavior based upon Fe-ar triggered inside the cell. And they LOVE to mock us in the media, too! If you know what to look for, it is all over! ;-)
Oohs 🥰 Jake Gyllenhaal Is One Of My Valentine Crushes.
Well we knew that wasn't true. Zodiac said they having motorcycle races lmao
The scene of the couple getting stabbed by the lake while tied up was pretty disturbing you cant do anything. Cant fight back cant even defend yourself or block all you can do is just take the pain
Paul Avery died the exact day I was born.
Why did they fictionalize it so much?
Zodiac’s Facebook buddy might have more details.
it's melvin bell-i. not melvin belly...
So why did his mother not remember anything? How did she meet the cop & marry him? How come they can’t find out if he was in fact in that psycho in sanquinton
1:54 I guess Brian Cox likes saying "Ominous" in movies. He said the same in Bourne Supremacy.
7:10 According to Graysmith..That sentance alone concidering how much he has lied about bunch of things should raise suspicion. Can we believe anything he says?
A masterpiece movie
School Bryan/Cecelia attended is Pacific Union College (PUC) located in ANGWIN, CA... NOT SAN FRANCISCO. Do your effin homework, MOJO 🤪
Impresionante
Who has a picnic with just a friend? I call bull on #6 and neither #7 nor #2 can be wrong if they don't exist in the movie 🤪
Maybe he was gay.
Or friend-zoned...
I can't believe Ted Cruz incriminate an innocent
I thought the movie was pretty good but they should have had more time go by between the crimes/crime scenes to build up suspense they just had all the crimes committed right at the beginning and I thought that ruined the suspense of the movie.
The point of the active/passive writing split in the movie is to show how the zodiac investigation started vs. how it continued/ ended. It was a great way to show how hard it was for the police to investigate. The action of the investigation died down, and so did it in the movie.
@@aislynnbarry8136 I disagree but okay.
Bryan Hartnell and Celia Sheppard not a couple? I’m not so sure about that, I know that Fellow Survivor Michael Mageau wasn’t dating Darlene Ferrin they were just friends but I’ve never heard of Bryan and Celia not being a couple… hmm
Yeah. I don’t know about that either, but who knows?
I would like to know why it's thankfully he didn't remain a suspect for long because he is still a suspect and as a matter of fact he has no alibi
Those aren’t goddamn scars lol
Universe strongest gems excluding the diamonds
#1 - James Earl Jones.
The amount of marvel characters in this film :o
NO ONE CARES. It was a good movie.
I watched this video without thinking about the MCU at all
And the real cipher says "that was not me on that TV show " lmao
good video watch mojo is a good channnel
When ironman and hulk need help mysterio to find a serial killer instead fight thanos and his henchman
Him: "I'm not the Zodiac"
Me: "No that's John Wayne Gacy" (because AHS)
I use to think it was Ted Kaczynski the Unabomber
FYI, Ted was part of MK Ultra-like mind control experiments. The OKC bombing guy was also tied to some black operations in the government. The FBI literally provided the bomb making materials for the 1993 WTC truck bomb -- their informant was so mad he quit informing and got an attorney!!! There is a tape of him complaining to his FBI handler and the handler is consoling him saying it wasn't his fault... lots of cockroaches under the black operations carpet...
ALA was zodiac.
I don't know if I believe the story that they're just old friends because as shown in the movie which may or may not been accurate she was resting with her head on his chest. And he offered himself up first because he said he couldn't bear to see her harmed.
And when is this future?
Why on earth would you wanna be the zodiac?
