Thank you Denis Happy days We went on the Black 5 during the miners strike before I had my video camcorder Really wish I had been able to record those days. I did take photos back then and it was class 27's that ran to Fort William then.

Ahh. Memories of the days of the Freedom of Scotland rail card and the old Breakfast run. Morning train (very early morning 05:55 Q Street if I remember) to Tyndrum Upper, walk down the hill to the Little Chef (Long gone) for breakfast then down to Lower to catch the morning Oban to Glasgow back. And I think you caught the long lamented Clansman an all day epic service from Euston to Inverness via Birmingham New Street. One service I regret never managed to catch from end to end. Always intended to but never got round to it. Feel old now! Lol!

Fantastic memories We went on holidays in Scotland for years by car, but I used to get there by train and my Dad would pick me up so I never got the Freedom of Scotland tickets which were great value. We used to stop off at Tyndrum there was a visitor centre there which had good meals. One holiday we stayed in a B&B at Slochd Summit just a few feet from the track. I did not have a camera then but got some audio recordings, one train was I think that Euston to Inverness which passed each morning class 40 hauled with about 20 coaches passenger, sleeping cars and parcel vans working flat out making 20mph, if that, what a sound. In the night class 20's were passing on long trains of pipes for North sea oil rigs they could be heard around 10 mins in the still of the night.

It brings back happy memories to me too. I remember my parents went in town shopping so got time to see the 37 arrive and depart The 37 I almost missed I knew something was due but it was running late and I had gone back to the car to see if my Dad would wait any longer Got back to the track side just as it came Still a bit annoyed I did not get it from a distance. LOL. I don't know if I got any video at Perth I have photos there when the 26's were running. No worries about seeing these archives, they will be there when you get time to watch.

Now that was a unique loco. Almost sounded like a Cat dozer. Was that a cat 🐈 on the side? Very interesting show my friend. 👍❤️😊

Thanks Dave These are one of our most liked locomotives Out of over 300 built in the 1960's only a few remain in regular use and they too will soon be withdrawn. The emblem some carried is a Scottie dog or to give it it's proper name a West Highland Terrier. The shed foreman at the place these were allocated to had a pet one and decided to have some adhesive vinyl's made for his fleet of locos They became very popular and although unofficial British Rail did not demand they were removed and as locos were repainted even put new bigger ones on like the one seen here. There are a few nicknames for these locos Tractor being one of them because of their sound which as you say is rather like a Cat Dozer

I'm guessing that freight, such as the Corpach - Mossend Speedlink, would've come into the station as well, so the loco could run round?

It was so long ago I do not remember any other details now. I guess I must of seen it from a distance by chance and had time to get it on video I certainly did not have a way of knowing it was running at that time unlike today when you can use Railcam UK to find any train and track is progress

I used a Panasonic full size VHS Camcorder with high grade tapes so it was easy to edit full size to full size tapes. There are taken directly off the master tape to DVD
