  • Today's video will be about something that a lot of people asked about! A setup tour, office tour, studio tour, etc. in 2017 of DIY sound treatment material. I often see comments about how to soundproof a room, how to block noisy neighbors, improve sound quality. The simple answer is to sound treat your home, sound treat your apartment, sound treat your office, etc. To soundproof a room, to soundproof an office, to get better sleep, to block loud neighbors, its all about keeping your sound in and keeping the bad sound out.
The foams that I am putting on the wall will not keep sound in or sound out. The acoustic foam that I have on the wall will make sound recordings better by reducing echo. This makes watching movies more enjoyable, speaking sound clearer and audio generally better. The trick to having better audio isnt always having better gear. The secret to more sleep, better sounds, less noise is all about treatment. Good luck.

Man I can’t believe you did this by yourself. It’s so inspiring. And that honestly looks amazing. Better then a plain wall. I’ll definitely look into getting something like it!!

Hey thanks for another video! That sound proofing does look pretty good, I also liked the fun facts you included! Also that was a nice song from Axhello. One question tho. How can I do this on concrete walls? I can't even puncture my concrete wall in my room with a t- pin. Thanks for reading

Here's a protip that may get its own video in the future.
Step 1) Buy a cheap, lightweight board (thin wood, thick cardboard sheet, foamcore, etc).
Step 2) Buy your adhesive of choice (t-pins, sticky spray, thumbtacks, etc)
Step 3) Mount your acoustic foam to that board using your adhesive.
Step 4) Mount that board to your wall using another adhesive ( sticky tape, nails, etc.)
This keeps your walls hole free, makes clean up a breeze and allows you to move your foam if need be. In your case, since you have concrete, I'd recommend some sort of sticky mounting tape like 3m tape.

Those look like those cheap amazon/ebay knock off. Helps with sound dampening / sound treatment but nothing on sound proofing. So man youtube list it as sound proofing but you can never sound proof without installing a new wall or cutting your dry wall out.

Looks great man but thats sound deadening not proofing, it eliminates reverb and room noise. Doesnt stop soung from going through the wall. Any way not here to hate, great video and looks awesome.

I have a question. I am studying opera music and I really want to do something like this instead of renting a small studio all the time when I need to practice singing. How do you KNOW that this works. I don't want to put all this stuff up only to find out that my neighbors still can hear me sing. And also I don't want to disturb my neighbors either.

How thick do you think the foam should be? . Many thanks!
