dreamcatcher \:D/ odd eye is actually one of their more 'poppy' title tracks. dreamcatcher is known for combining rock/metal instrumentation with all types of genres. they also rarely revisit a genre/sub-genre twice so almost no two of their songs sound alike. while definitely not metal, their instrumentation is something rock/metal fans can more easily digest compared to their kpop peers. their title tracks also have a narrative but that's not as important if you are just in it for the music. their current 'apocalypse' trilogy started with 'maison' and followed by 'vision'. the last part will come out early next month so if you plan to checking it out, you can get caught up with the first two ;)

They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip out your spine when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉 Odd Eye is part 3 of the Dystopia trilogy, which is about cyber-bullying, hateful comments and people losing themselves in the (fake) online world. People can get lost in the world of the Internet and social media and their online personas can take over their life. Dreamcatcher want us to use our odd eye to see through the lies (on Facebook and others) and don't be fooled by the "lies masked in sweetness". I can only recommend to keep reacting to them, they are always interesting and entertaining! And the song is a banger!

this is actually one of more poppy songs from dreamcatcher. they often change up their sound, while keeping rock as their signature, which is really cool, and it also means you'll rarely hear the same type of sound twice from them. they have a huge range of genres in their discography, so there's something in there for everyone. as a metalhead myself, their earlier stuff was what sucked me into the world of kpop, back in 2017. one of my personal favourites is goodnight, which is part of their nightmare series. it's composed of chase me, goodnight, you and i, fligh high, what and piri (and breaking out, a japanese single that's an alternative ending to the nightmare series). these are their more rocky songs, and they mixed a lot of horror elements into their mvs. the sound in those is essentially a mix of rock, jrock and more typical kpop elements. their more metal heavy title is probably endless night, which is a japanese release, and the drums on that one are insane. they also have their special albums, which aren't part of a specific story line, but are amazing nonetheless. out of these, you have deja vu, which is a their version of a power ballad and manages to deliver an emotional vibe while being fairly heavy, and has a more fantasy elements in the mv. there's also because, a summer special album with a horror movie concept. it's a callback to their earlier music, while still changing up their sound. the mv is very much carnaval horror and the song has this creepy cute vibe to it. it's their first title track that's a love song and it's possibly one of their creepiest, which makes it one of my personal favourites. another song that's seperate from the series, but not a comeback is rose blue, a single collab with a video game, and it has similar vibes, sonically, to deja vu. odd eye is the last installment of their dystopia series, which is scream, boca and odd eye. it's when they started using more edm elements in their music, and it's inspired by the saying "hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil", hence the names. the whole trilogy is about online hate and the way people can become completely different once they're behind a screen. they've also released three songs for their fans, full moon, over the sky, and more recently reason, to commemorate them all resigning their contracts after 6 years, something that's a rarity in kpop. reason is my personal favourite out of the three. their vocals and rap are so sick in that one and the instrumental is so hype and so classically dreamcatcher that it left the fans in shock when it was dropped. the mv and the lyrics are also so sweet. lastly, you have their latest songs, which are about climate change. the mvs are a little dodgy, mostly because they wanted to make them using mostly greenscreens to avoid waste. it's a trilogy, with maison, vision, both of which have a very apocalyptic/superhero vibe to them, and the third one being released next month. the girls have already said that the third one is gonna mix up their sound a little, once again, so i'm really looking forward to it. they're also known for their incredible live stages, both vocally and performance wise. i find that a dreamcatcher comeback isn't complete without checking out their live stages, since they're just incredible performers. their concert fancams are also something else, and they manage to completely hype up the crowd. they performed on primavera sound last year, and managed to go from just the front rows, who went there for them, to the whole crowd vibing and jumping. it was so cool to see. i'm happy to see another person reacting to them, so i hope this comment was helpful, and, most of all, i hope you enjoy the ride. there's no kpop group in the industry like them, and they've inspired many more recent groups, like purple kiss and pixy, both of which i think you'd enjoy as well.

JiU said it was her favorite album they've made, but I'm also kinda worried about the sound change because LEEZ signed an exclusive contract with a different company :( Ollounder is still there though, so I hope it'll still be authentically "Dreamcatcher."
Nice job finding the only group in K-pop that consistently represents the rock and metal sound - it's been Dreamcatcher's musical fingerprint since they debuted six years ago, and they do it both amazingly well and in a bunch of different styles since they expanded into rock fusion like Odd Eye in early 2020. You have no idea how deep this musical rabbit hole goes when you include all their B-sides, which are some of the best in the industry. You won't regret discovering them.
I’ve been listening to kpop casually since like 2008 but dreamcatcher are hands down my favorite. I don’t think there’s actually a song in their discography that I dislike. And the members themselves are a little unhinged and absolutely hilarious. I saw them in concert in Chicago last summer and had the time of my life. Hopefully you’ll enjoy their music. If you do end up wanting to find other groups that would fit your taste, Ateez is kind of a male counterpart to dreamcatcher. Different company, but they have some of the same producers, kinda similar themes, and at one point the same choreographer-not sure if that’s still accurate. I would recommend Guerilla to start with if you want to look at them.

Actually, a lot of Dreamcatcher fans are not fans of rock or metal. So they probably get confused on which songs should be recommended for metalheads, which in turn gives poor first impresssion to their music. "Scream" for example, is predominantly heavy EDM but it gets recommended often by non-metalhead Dreamcatcher fans

I'm also quite new to Dreamcatcher but they did what I thought was impossible they now dominate the playlist I listen to when driving, displacing Babymetal which had been the most frequently listened to tracks for a long time. What I like about Dreamcatcher is not just their music and videos but everything they put online. There are so many hours of vlogs, self made MVs and other stuff I really didn't expect to see from a group for such a long period. Their self made MVs for Sahara, Break the Wall and Poison Love really sold me on just how creative and talented they are. I loved their other stuff but those blew me away, I certainly wasn't expecting what I watched. I save in another comment that they have a song in the Dark hole K-Drama. I didn't know about Dreamcatcher when I watched that so it's an added bonus that I now have an excuse to watch that again to listen for the music. They already got me watching Kingdom for a second time thanks to their K-Zombies edition of Boca. My daughter and I went to see Dreamcatcher a few weeks ago. Even now I don't think there has been a day when either my daughter or I haven't been caught humming Dreamcatcher tunes at home. I would like to add Pink Fantasy. They are in the same style but they hit harder and darker theme on most songs. They come from a smaller company so they aren't as popular. I would recommend Poison: Alice in Wonderland version.

I would recommend Endless Night (in japanese) then go back to the beginning. They are the only Kpop I listen to with the exception of Mamamoo which is also a special case.

I also liked that you kept an open mind to all the things that are not necessarily metal, and appreciate them even (like the pop, or the rap).
Don't worry too much about the comparisons. Everybody is influenced by somebody, and Dreamcatcher has been compared with Evanescence, Paramour, Within Temptation, or Nightwish multiple times before.

I would like to add Pink Fantasy. They are in the same style but they hit harder and darker theme on most songs. They come from a smaller company so they aren't as popular. I would recommend Poison: Alice in Wonderland version.

I’m happy to see you react to Dreamcatcher, the cool production and visuals is called JiU, she’s a wonderful woman, she’s absolutely gorgeous and will make your head explode if you begin to know her. I would recommend Endless Night (in japanese) then go back to the beginning. They are the only Kpop I listen to with the exception of Mamamoo which is also a special case.

Can't believe this is your first time ever reacting to Dreamcatcher, AMP 😅. If you follow Band-Maid, Babymetal etc, you will notice that Dreamcatcher's name will pop up here and there in some of the MVs. Anyway, i'll be waiting for more Dreamcatcher reactions soon.
