Anne Boleyn isn't really a villain tho. The writers do express regret for writing her that way, since historical Anne Boleyn was very smart, opinionated and involved in politics and religious reform. It's very likely that she didn't initially want to be with King Henry (whether she wanted to or not, she wouldn't have a choice since he wanted her) The reason for her beheading was Henry wanting to be with Jane Seymour and wanting to get rid off Anne (mostly due to the lack of a male heir), so they accused her of adultery, incest and conspiracy to commit treason and since no one would go against the word of the King, she was killed. (She totally spoke about how bad Henry was in bed tho lol)
Oh also another place where you're technically wrong is the writers had no intention of villifying Anne or any other Queen This shows more at the end but the whole point of Six is that all of the Queen's struggles were valid and that none of them are really to blame, as they were all victims of a patriarchal society that barely held any value towards woman's lives, and that it is inherently wrong to try and compare them depending on who was treated the "worst" or to paint any of them as "evil" as they have always been painted in dark lights throughout history.
I love Anne in SIX but now I really wanna see how they would've handled her.
I think she had two other sisters but I don't remember their names or what they were like
@@yaramigdaliasantiagonegron5139 Anne had two siblings George and Mary Boleyn
Yes Anne should not have been blamed for anything, she was indeed very smart and sort of different to the rest of the wife's, it is sad to think Anne probably didn't flirt with a guy or three.
Fun fact: Anne Boleyn and Kathrine Howard were cousins.
@@ArmedMissunderstanding yea i heard her was also with Seymour and aragon(idk cousin firts degrees) idk if that's true with aragon but I guess so (sorry for my grammar it's not my first language)
I love how Christine thinks they made Boleyn an unlikeable character when its quite the opposite.
exactly she's the most favored queen in the fandom. she's my favorite queen as well
Cleo Miller same!! she’s my favorite queen
K Howard is best queen in mY opinion
@@theatheat6368 yeah K Howard is my second favorite queen but they're both great
She is my favourite queen .
Don’t lose ur head is pretty historically inaccurate. Anne had a man she loved and Henry was like “hey” and Anne was like “no” but her dad was like “yes” so yes it was. Anne was smart and fiery, and that’s why she lost her head. However, she birthed Elizabeth. So the first verse and first chorus, she had no choice. The second verse and second chorus, she was also being pressured by her family and the FREACKING KING. She had three miscarriages. And there is some evidence that she didn’t flirt and Henry just wanted to get rid of her. Sorry for the block of text, really liked the video!
I dont think it's not historically inaccurate. I just think they mist lots of stuff if it makes Sence. Sorry for the bad writting. English Is not my first language.
PS. No offence with your comment. I see where your coming from. Love the video as well.
itz_sofi's sushi You’re fine, have a nice day!
Well, she did participate in courtly love, however that was taken out of context to frame her as a cheater, and pretty much everyone did it at the time. But I would argue that Anne is the most open to interpretation of the queens, depending on how you play her. There are many queens that have played her that I love, but the one that I think is the most historically accurate is probably the current West End Boleyn, Courtney Bowman. She's got the intelligent edge and all the sass of the real life Boleyn! Personally, though the girl on the album is a good singer, I don't think her acting is all that similar to the real queen. Sorry for the long block of text as well! I'm just super passionate about this musical!
But you can't deny its pretty catchy
That kinda gives the line "What aas I meant to do?" a different meaning.
Historically speaking though, she really didn't do anything wrong. She was forced to be with the king, even if she thought he was probably gonna cheat after they got together, *the king* wanted her and her father wed her away. The writers did write her wrong, I completely agree with you. I wish they wrote her differently, because she was a really cool person.
Captain Blue I think they said they regretting writing her that way, since she was actually very smart.
And Henry killed her cause she didn't have a son
I remembering watching a vid saying that she actually wanted to be the queen, tho
@@rafaelaveralugo7626 really? if you can remember what it was, would you mind linking it?
@@Jay-fv3ij It's an oversimplified vid, now that I think about it
So basically Henry got Anne Boleyn executed because she gave him a daughter(Elizabeth) and not a son,but he blamed her for adultery
She wasn’t executed due to giving birth to Elizabeth (I mean it contributed but it’s not the main factor) and yeah she was blamed for both adultery and incest with his brother
Which are both facts that can’t be proven, therefore we don’t know if Anne actually committed any of the things she was blamed for
She was also blamed for incest
He is the most idiotic person I've ever heard like you cant choose the babies gender
Let's also keep in mind he was already courting Jane Seymour (at least I'm pretty sure) at the time that Anne was beheaded. It hasn't been proven that she ever committed adultery or anything. So I'm thinking there was some exaggeration involved with the accusations against her just so they had a reason to get rid of her so Henry could marry Jane.
But of course this is all theory. Do correct me if I said anything incorrect.
“They didn’t make Boleyn a likeable character”
Me: Boleyn’s my favourite queen Is that bad?
Also, this song makes Boleyn seem as if she was beheaded for flirting and calling the king a female dog.
Most likely; she was beheaded, because she couldn’t give Henry a male heir. Henry executed her for flirting, though it was a fake accusation to get rid of her.
She was also pushed into that relationship by her father. The line “and soon my daddy said ‘you should try and get ahead’ “ is a reflection of this.
(No hate)
Have you seen the show, though? In the scene between this song and Heart of Stone, Anne mentions more than once that "I had a daughter and he literally chopped my head off for it."
Jamie Hood
I haven’t seen the show. It didn’t get to my area before lockdown.
The song, makes it seem that way, but I didn’t know it was said in the musical. That was my bad, I’m sorry. The song just makes it seem that way. Thankyou for telling me
@@goodnight-moon564 Don't worry, it's all cool! I think the writers gradually made Boleyn a more likable character over the course of the creative process, because if you listen to the original cast, she seems more haughty, dumb and sex-obsessed, which is not at all what she was like. Also, not sure if there are any animatics of the next scene, but it's pretty funny. Seymour starts recounting how she loved Henry, and he wasn't as bad as he seems. Then Boleyn says "Oh, yeah, now I remember this really sweet time when I had a daughter and he literally chopped my head off for it." Oh, and Heart of Stone is just heart shattering live. Henry broke Seymour's heart, and it's really emotional.
Jamie Hood
Heart of Stone is so sad! It makes me want to go back in time and punch Henry in the face.
Also, that scene sounds hilarious! I won’t need my head chopped off, because I’ll laugh it off!
Also, it does seem like that with the Boleyns. I’ve only heard a few of them, like Millie, Maddie, Christina, Kala and Andrea. But it does seem like that. In an interview, Millie said that Toby and Lucy’s writing, made Boleyn so she was still intelligent, but she wasn’t as clued up as everyone thinks. Her choices weren’t calculated, or for a bigger goal, but Boleyn herself wasn’t dumb or away with the fairies.
From what I’ve heard, I agree.
I thought the original cast Boleyn was supposed to sound sarcastic.
Also, to her being pressured you could add 'What was I meant to do?'
Anne Boleyn had like 3 miscarriages, and only gave birth to a daughter
Who became Queen of England. And Henry offered to either divorce Anne and disinherit Elizabeth (Anne's daughter) or to execute Anne and make Elizabeth the heir.
@@ieatbabies4446 Funny that Elizabeth was still regarded as illegitimate until she was the only option after her siblings died.
I think that they taught me that she was executed because she didn't give birth to a male heir, she instead gave birth to a daughter (Elizabeth I), and also she got charged with adultery and treason, but mainly because she gave birth do a girl and not a boy.
I read somewhere that she got a choice. She can live and her daughter won't be heir to the throne or she die and Elizabeth can be queen.
@@smootie0472 yup that's why she died because she wanted her daughter to have the throne
She was pregnant but had a miscarriage after Henry got injured during a jousting accident. Also the next thing is wearing yellow to a funeral but its so short so after that is heart of stone

Pretty sure I messed up something
Edit : I recommend Bogan shill for heart of stone
Good reference in the end.

Bruh for some reason I jusT CAN’T wAIT TILL SHE LISTENS TO ALL U WANNA DO
Hey! Did you know someone did Cleves' intro???
the writers (lucy moss and toby marlow) wrote all the queens to be likeable. the whole shows point is for the queen's story to be redeemed because they've been put into a mold of ,as katherine howard says, a stupid rhyme. i get not liking anne but saying she's a villain is far from the truth. toby and lucy have talked about how they look back on writing dont lose ur head and regret on how they portrayed anne. all the queens are wonderful individuals and this musical showcases that. anne didn't want to be with henry but she was pressured to do so by her father. she didn't want to be a side chick but that's just what history portrays her as. anne is an incredibly smart women who's fall wasn't all her fault.
unfortunately Anne Boleyn's song is the only one i think failed to really convey that she was "likeable". which is a shame since it's not really historically accurate either.
It’s pretty weird seeing someone dislike Anne, she is the most loved character in the show.
It’s interesting to see how you took her as an unlikeable character, because I thought she was painted as childish and just didn’t think through her actions in the song. Also, with the line “somebody hang you” that was the only way to get out of a marriage at that point, cause divorce wasn’t allowed by the church
She was childish and acting like she did nothjng wrong
Anne was mostly pressured by her family to get with the king, She did have a child which was Elizabeth |, She had the choice to live but her daughter would have the fore fit but,If she would choose death Elizabeth would take the thrown, so she chose death and no I don’t agree with that she was written to be unlikeable more like a neutral character who was pressured and abused by others, she was political pon, She did wrong things but like anyone else she was not a perfect person neither were the other queens they were all written to be sympathized with. Anne had to Leave the love of her life to get with the King. Do I believe that Anne had the choice to not be a bish? Yes but do I feel bad for her? Also yes but anyways Great vid!❤️
The one that "lied" about being pregnent was Mary I,she was having simptoms of pregnancy and after 10/11 months of "being pregnant" she didn't give birth(also some advisors wanted to get in her good graces and told her that Boys needed more time in the womb),and after that she burned a bunch of people.
꧁Marigold ꧂ I heard that she likely had a uterine tumor and experienced psychosomatic symptoms. Honestly, history is pretty complicated. It seems like everyone has a different idea of what actually happened.
Avalasia Love
True. I think it’s mostly due to the fact that new information about the past is being found every year, and theories come out about things as well. Some people believe the new info, or others might argue with some errors theories have. But that goes for information on anything.
She had a daughter but had 3 miscarriages.
Corn nuts
Heather stole your red scrunchie
I’ll tell her to get out of your stuff

@@artisticbacon1852 O.o
I feel like the animatic made her seem more “evil” than she actually is, even the musical...
I agree! It's a good animatic, but really demonized her.
Anne’s basically a cat in this animatic
Yeah, AyChristene says after the song's over that writers can make the "villains" however they want to and depict them in different ways, but that applies to the people who create animatics too
Lily of The Ocean I totally agree. My favorite creator is Tudor von Arts. The people who run that channel do an excellent job at depicting what the lyrics indicate while including extra storytelling elements. My heart broke when I first saw her being dragged away from Elizabeth near the end!
Oof they also made her feel like she gave up in the end when in the play she was still sarcastic and witty. They didn't do that part justice since after this she has lines about having a daughter and getting executed for it.
I mean she never cheated, and never did exactly have a choice. Her father pressured her into being with Henry, Henry was interested in her and he’s the king so she couldn’t exactly say no forever. Henry only accused her of cheating cause he wanted to be with Jane Seymour and Anne had only given birth to a girl, Elizabeth. She went through a bunch of stuff cause of men wanting to use her for power and all that just like all the queens. Sorry I know so many people have said it, but I just had to.
Sad thing is her only choice was the one that had her executed. Henry gave Anne a choice, he would either divorce her and disinherit Elizabeth or execute her and ake Elizabeth queen.
i’m loving this series tbh-
anyways, anne b. did have a miscarriage (maybe more than one, but at least one for sure) - but she *did* have a child!! a girl - Elizabeth
She had three miscarriages and her having Elizabeth was part of the reason that she got beheaded because she hadn’t given a male heir to King Henry and he just overall wanted to get rid of her because he found one of the other queens and accused her of adultery. I can’t quite remember which queen it was. Hope this helped!
wearing yellow to a funeral is next. Again, it's not an official song. But it's hilarious and I think you should check it out
CATHRINE WAS A MASSIVE...😂😂😂
@@deborahpotter4785 😂😂😂
She had a daughter who would later become Elizabeth I
YES
Anne Boleyn's queenspirations are Lilly Allen and Avril Lavigne, and her color is green because of the Tudor song Greensleeves which was rumored to be written about her. This song is super popular on Tiktok! As you know, because Anne only had a daughter, her participation in courtly love was taken out of context to frame her as a cheater and have her beheaded. I would argue that Queen Boleyn is the most open to interpretation of the queens, and she can be played in many versatile ways. The most popular portrayal, however, is by Millie O'Connell, who plays her, as playful, witty and dorky. The next song is Heart of Stone, which is sung by Jane Seymour, the third wife! It's an emotional one, so be ready!
YES LOVE THIS!!! next is heart of stone and you should totally do the one by Definicious
YASSSSSS
So the next “song” is Wearing Yellow to a Funeral, and I recommend Defenicious because that one has subtitles made for it (by someone, not google), and the audio on that one isn’t of much quality at all in my opinion.
Also: Anne B. Had 3 miscarriages and a daughter. (Elizabeth the First)
excuse me Philip I thought you were dead
Catherine was a MASSIVE...😂😂😂
The thing you have to remember is that in Ex-Wives they say "Welcome to the show, to the histo-remix", which probably is a way of them saying that these songs are not 100% historically accurate, but a turn on the source material.
is anyone excited to see how she reacts to All U Wanna Do or is it just me?
😂 She would flip-
I cant wait to see her reaction, shes not gonna like the "arrogance" in her character at the start, but once she hears "13 going on 30" shes gonna feel BAD
oh look a comment that's why im so excited i love seeing peoples reaction to stuff XD
YeS
I hope she does definicious' animatic :)
Yeah anne actually had three miscarriages
Never seen this animatic for don't loose your head and wow, in the show Anne is pretty upbeat but in this we really see Anne get emotional about things
I understand your viewpoint on Anne. I too wasn’t a huge fan of her at first. I didn’t like her cruelty towards Catherine or her incredibly high opinion of herself. However, I soon saw a different side to her after seeing what some of the fans had to say.
The way I see it, the song might be implying that Anne eventually decided to hook up with Henry after her father pressured her into it (hence the line “and soon my daddy said you should try and get ahead.”). Henry may have also groomed her and made her believe that he truly cherished her and cared for her as a lot of domestic abusers are known to do. This song may also be trying to demonstrate that she’s truly genuine at heart but can be impulsive at times and has trouble controlling her temper. My guess as to why she’s presented so drastically different is because the writers didn’t want her character to be too similar to Anne of Cleaves.
Avalasia Love Not to mention Henry wanted her. Anne couldn’t exactly say no forever. If the king wanted you, you were his.
Here's the order of songs - and the **parts in between** after this one!
**Wearing yellow to a funeral** - I recommend Definicious' version again
*Heart of stone* - Once again, I recommend Definicious' version
*Haus of Holbein* - Lookie here again, Definicious' version is what i recommend.
*Get down* - I recommend Ayegee art's version
**Katherine Howard roast** - If you watch scraped kneez's version of all you wanna do, they've included it.
*All you wanna do* - I recommend scraped kneez
**Six fight** - I recommend Damia's version
*I don't need your love* - Once again, I recommend Definicious' version
*Six* - I recommend kaitcake1289's version
**Megasix** - I recommend kaitcake1289's version
Like how in one moment, Anne's ruining the perfectly set dinner table, and Henry's reading a newspaper
Every body all happy and dancing till we all remember what song is next....
Anne is the *most* like able queen
*she is my absolute favorite*
she had a miscarrige and it would have been a boy but thank goodness she had elizabeth
I'm happy you picked this video it's one of the best animatics I've seen in a long time
Today’s actually the anniversary of when Catherine of Aragon was officially “divorced” (the marriage was annulled), for all my fellow history nerds
I would recommend definicious for Wearing Yellow to a Funeral, I would recommend definicious for Heart of Stone as well but make sure to bring tissues for that one gurl
Is she comparing Thanos to Anne? 😂 Anyways, Anne is not the villain at all. She was a little bit snobby to the other queens, but they were all being rude and arguing with each other. She also isn't written to not be likable. She was just being sassy and trying to prove that she had it worst with Henry. (She and Katherine Howard are actually the two most popular queens) Ik that that isn't the way she was exactly in history, I'm just talking about how she was in the musical.
This is actually one of my favorite songs, and the animatic you chose has an incredible art style. It does a good job of showing the age difference between Aragon and Boleyn.
cool! i believe next one is wearing yellow to a funeral!
Yesss she watched my favorite animation for it! I always thought it was unique af
Something I think needs to be understood is that Six isn't just about these queens as people, it's also about how people think about them. Anne is portrayed the way she is in the show, because it is very common for people to cast her as the villain in Catherine's story. Popular media and actual historians have spent centuries painting Anne as nothing but a promiscuous homewrecker who is solely to blame for the dissolution of Catherine and Henry's marriage; as if Henry wasn't completely ready to throw his wife of 24 years under the bus because he was tired of her and hadn't gotten what he wanted out of their marriage(i.e. a male heir). The repetitions of "What was I meant to do?" and "Sorry, not sorry" are her pushing back against that; they're meant to underline the fact that she didn't have very many actual choices and is dealing with situations that she didn't want to be a part of as best she can and is rightly sick of carrying the blame for things that were out of her control. Modern historians generally agree that the adultery charges thrown at her were almost certainly fabricated by people at court who wanted to get rid of her and Henry wasn't too concerned with proving her innocence. Like Catherine before her, he was tired of Anne, he hadn't gotten what he wanted out of their marriage(a male heir), and he already had someone in mind to replace her. Henry proposed to Jane Seymour literally the day after Anne's execution. Don't forget, Henry is the only villain in this story.
At any rate, the next song is Heart of Stone. It's actually one of my favorite songs in the show. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of finished animatics for it. Of the ones that are around, I would highly recommend the one by definicious.
Henry is a king I don't even think no one can disobey Henry and Anne is just like an impulsive teen while I see her point of view she was also kinda stupid bec why did she say the b part Henry is not ganna stop cheating even if someone tells bad about Henry
The art work was lovely and horrifying at the same time LOVED IT😍
This animatic is cute and it’s kinda paints Anne as a cat. I’m a bit disappointed tho cuz this Animatic paints Anne as like the villain of the story but in AYEGEE art animatic, Anne is like a regular person cuz u pity her at the end.
I mean this animatic is good but I’m kinda sad u didn’t check out AYEGEE art versions of DLUH cuz that was really good
omg I forgot about this channel, I watched it so much a few years ago, im happy I found it again
The next song is heart of stone! and i honestly haven't watched any animatics of it since i only really look at the all you wanna do animatics😂
I wish she reacted to the one by AYEGEE art since it showed more on how she regretted her actions and was forced to do it
When you get to all you wanna do watch the one that was at the end of your video at the very top left corner it’s really good.
When you get to Get Down (anna of cleves' song) you should watch bogan hill's vid bc their animation is amazing and when you get to All you wanna do (katherine howard's song) who should watch tudor von arts again bc they go into a lot of depth and there is voice acting. Hope u see this!!
She not there yet
I dropped my phone when I saw this
Awesome reaction! I love this animator and animatic, though I'm a bit sad you chose this instead of one that painted Anne in less of a b**chy light. But hey, that's just my opinion. I still loved this nonetheless ❤️❤️❤️
Agreed
Yes i have been. Waiting for this!😁
"Yellow to a funeral" is next. you are amazing!!
"I mean... I guess he must've.. really. Liked my head. ,';) ... SORRY NOT SORRY-"
Favourite part honestly
PLEASE DO MORE!!!!
Yay!!!!!! Another six video!!!!!
Yay!
When you get to All You Wanna Do, I'd 100% watch the animatic by Definicious or by Kiru uwu, simply because of the way they portray Katherine throughout the song and the way everything is displayed, it really gets a reaction out of you. I also love the symbolism in the one by Kiru uwu with how everyone else was portrayed.
Anne did have one child named Elizabeth, who ended up being one of the best English Monarchs
(I think I'm American and don't really know a lot about British History, so if there is anyone that is British you can correct me) Also, Anne might not have actually done anything wrong. Henry just said that because she gave birth to a girl, and not a male heir, and to get rid of her and get with Jane Seymour
Everything you wrote is true
Finally, I was waiting just for this
Before you wacht "heart of stone" jane's song, you sould check up "wearing yellow to a funeral" from definicious
Please do more!
Fun fact Anne was great with politics but she hated it so she said "not my thing"
next up is heart of stone
5:08 I think you were thinking of Mary, Catherine of Aragon's daughter
Anne Boleyn was one of my favorite characters and her song is a bop so it’s sad to see how historically inaccurate her part of the musical was. She was actually very, very smart. From what my research seemed to say she didn’t really want to be with Henry but did it because her family said she could get a‘head’ . Another thing is that Henry might have only accuses her of cheating and there isn’t much proof to say she actually did.
Next is Wearing Yellow to a Funeral! Love ur vids!❤️❤️
The next two songs are "Wearing Yellow to a Funeral" and "Heart of Stone". "Wearing Yellow to a Funeral" is less than a minute long so I would recommend watching both of defincious's animatics in the same reaction!
This is my favourite character!
Anne at the time was not really the bad guy, she was really young at the time. This is why she says she didn’t really mean anything she was just trying to have fun. And she was being controlled by her father because he wanted the money and royalty from the king.
The next Song is Heart of Stone and i would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend checking out definicious’s animatic for it!
this song is amazing!
During Henry and Anne's marriage, her first pregnancy with Elizabeth was successful, but her next 2 pregnancied would end in miscarriages - likely due to the stress of Henry's declining health after a jousting accident. Then Anne's 3rd pregnancy wasn't even a pregnancy, it was called a phantom pregnancy, where the female is so desperate for a child that the body will trick its slef into thinking it is pregnant.
The same thing happened with to Katherine of Aragon and Mary I. It was surprisingly common due to the pressure put on women to produce children, and it still happens today.
You are gonna get the feels from All You Wanna Do, I think that’s two more songs away though.
She got pregnent but to a baby girl (Elizabeth 1) but king henry wanted a boy to continue the line but she gave birth to a girl so he thought made a rumor about anne for him to behead her so the king chose the greatest swordsman so The death was quick and painless cause he convicted an innocent woman to die... The king made the rumors and the court believed them
You need to watch definicious's animatic for Heart of Stone. She did an AMAZING job!
AAAHHH I love Krystalia
I just got into watching animatics these musical animatics well this exact one I forgot the name but that’s so crazy lol
I'm pretty sure she was Elizabeth the firsts mother, she agreed to get her head cut off in exchange for Elizabeth gaurenteed her place
Thank you for making this video because the original creator just got hacked and deleted and I gotta find a way to find them somehow
She’s definitely my fav character along with K. Howard
You should watch definicious' wearing yellow to a funeral and heart of stone animatics, since they're both by the same person
Definitely need to check out Horrible Histories after you finish Six : The Musical
It was Mary I (Bloody Mary) who had struggles with pregnancy. She had lots of miscarriages and never had children. Her stomach had swollen up making her believe she was pregnant but it was a type of cancer or cyst so she died not long after.
Honestly this song is tied as my favorite with the next song (Heart of Stone) just fun and such a bop
Why do I keep seeing comments about how everyone thinks Anne is a villain when she is literally the fandom’s favorite queen. And I am not saying this biased towards her or anything, but Anne’s song is the most popular and every time I check the comments under a SIX video everyone praises her
"but rumors spiral" that phrase means that almost everything that happened to her is because they made rumors about her, she also had 3 miscarriages
As beautiful as this animatic is (it's my favourite of the song), it's not the best for an initial introduction to Anne. It portrays her most negatively out go all of them imo
I feel like this animatic made Anne seem more like the traditional bad guy, other animatics of don't lose ur head make Anne look more sympathetic. In the actual musical, Anne isn't much of a bad guy, she's more portrayed as a childish person that just wanna have fun.
What you're thinking of when Anne was pregnant with a son but Henry got hurt during a joust and was almost killed. Which lead to him gaining a ton of weight.
This shock caused her to misscarriage the son and gave Henry more reason to want her beheadedm
The next song is Heart if Stone. I love the animatics done by Misako and Definicious. I highly recommend reacting to either one of them.
She had 3 miscariges (correct my spelling) and the gave birth one of Englands greatest monarchs, Queen Elizabeth I.
“They made her like not a like able characters”
*her being one of my fav characters* ...
Sigh- I can never forget how much I love this song.
It's like when I watch shows or movies and I'm drawn to a character for some reason (looks, style, personality, ect.) and they end up the most hated or the one with the most "points of intererest" or something of the like, Technically falling or swooning for the bad boy or the geek or the prep guy (sigh). Basically falling for the least liked or the most beloved character (sometimes not all the times falling for the guy who dies early on in the series or movie, *sighs* J)
I read somewhere that Anne had a daughter instead of a son, and Henry was mad about that so he made up things about her. Correct my if I'm wrong, I read that in the comments of the song. (While listening to it, I read the comments before every song so I could learn the history of the person singing before I misinterpreted something.)
Anne was actually a really nice person and in the tudors I cried so much with her and Elizabeth and she loved her so much and I love the song but the way they portrayed her was not right she didn’t deserve to die and she didn’t even do the things she was accused of. But good old Henry needed a son and this was the perfect opertunity to get rid of her. :(
I really have to agree with you -- one of my biggest hang-ups with Six the Musical, a show I really enjoy, is the interpretation of Anne Boleyn through this song.
I love the thought of depicting Anne as more impulsive, immature, and petty compared to the other queens, especially Catherine of Aragon (who sort of serves as her foil) -- I mean, after all, Catherine was at least 27 years older than Anne, and half of Anne's appeal for Henry was her youth and spunk. This is a woman who was actually rather involved in the new Protestant movement sweeping England at the time and was able to persuade Henry into entertaining its ideas too when it was still considered heresy. (And the pettiness fits with how badly Anne treated Catherine's daughter, Mary, in contrast to her own daughter Elizabeth.) But Anne was *also* a woman who refused to simply be one of Henry's many mistresses. Anne's sister Mary Boleyn (who was one of Henry's mistresses) had been very lucky to find and fall in love with a man who married her anyway, but future royal wife Katherine Howard's situation (being basically slut-shamed for having sex out of wedlock, at least if you were a woman) was much more common. And since Anne's father had been very firm in Anne marrying someone of very high status so as to "help the family get ahead," Henry no doubt seemed like the best option, especially since he was so interested in Anne and (at the time) he had actually been more of a "catch," both personality-wise and physically. But not too long before the end of Anne's reign as queen, Henry VIII was in a serious horse-riding accident that badly injured his head, and according to reports, his temperament changed dramatically. I sincerely believe that Henry's new, aggressive mood swings (added to his resentment of Anne not bearing the male heir he craved and his lust for Anne's lovely new handmaiden, Jane Seymour) is what led to Henry's advisors conjuring up accusations of adultery against Anne (one of which with her own brother, might I add) and Henry using them as an excuse to execute her and cast Elizabeth out as a bastard child, just as he had to his first daughter by Catherine, Mary. (Fortunately Elizabeth was reestablished to the line of succession later. Mary was too -- though, in retrospect, not so fortunately.)
I will say that the dialogue in the actual production of Six does soften the blow of this song, depicting Anne as more just fiery and fueled by her passions and impulses rather than anything vindictive, and I have seen some other animatics (like Alyza's) try to depict Anne more innocently and show a sincerity in Anne's feelings to contrast the light, flighty bubblegum song she's singing. But at the same time, this song doesn't make as sympathetic or accurate of a first impression for Anne Boleyn as the other songs in the soundtrack do for their respective queens, even though it is a serious bop.
To shift gears, I have absolutely *adored* your reactions for Six so far!! Heart of Stone being next, I admit a soft spot for Misako's animatic, but definicious and bogan shill have both made lovely ones too. What I will say, though, is that once you're done with Heart of Stone and the following song Haus of Holbein, you have have *HAVE* to go with bogan shill's for Get Down. It is easily one of the most entertaining and smoothest Six animatics ever created, to the extent it's pretty much a full animation, chock-full of meta references and drawn in an awesome, adorable art style to boot.
Hope your day is magical!! Keep up the amazing work!! xoxo
I believe in the musical they were arguing about probably whose life was worse, she said she had three miscarriages and another queen said she had five miscarriages
I can't wait for get down, all you want to do (my favorite), and I don't need your love
