- Just get a set of one length or single length irons? Not sure where to start or how to get used to them? Been using them but having trouble? This video is the perfect tip to nail down consistency and get proper ball flight and distance.

Good drill. Strangely enough, putting the ball dead center of my stance like a 7 iron for all of my irons was the easiest and most natural feeling part of going to the one lengths. Really improved control particularly in uneven or sloped lies

Switched back to single length about 4 months ago. Had tried single length for about 6 months 2 years ago and then bought new set of variable length irons. After a year or so I decided to get a fitted set of one length and have been playing them. The set up that works best for me is the set up I used for a 5 iron on my variable lengths set. This puts the ball in my stance about 1/2 of a ball or 1.5 inches forward of the center of my stance. I am now shooting consistently in the high 70s . My set has 5 hybrid, 6-PW matching Cobra. I had my wedges made custom with the same length and one degree flat from my other clubs. I use face forward wedges 52 and 56.
That’s great to hear! So glad they’re helping you get better. Everyone’s swing is a factor to where the optimal setup is, but once you find it, the game can be a lot easier! I wish you continued success.

I saw the new utility. I’d love to test it out, but we’re still in that “not sponsored” and “not enough for ad money” stages, so I’d have to buy it unless someone is a secret Cobra rep and can send me one to test. 😉 I love the look and tech in it from what I’ve read. Since I just got a ton of new gear for Christmas, I’ll have to hold off for now. I have a few potential local shops that may have demos, and if so, I’ll go that route.

Quick question if you don’t mind, I got a 6-PW cobra F9 one length graphite set a while ago. Initially I was able to hit them but now I can’t feel the shaft or club at all. In fact I swing my steel variable length wedges well, driver and 5W variable are fine.
Do you think perhaps my tempo has changed or graphite is too light for me now?
Later this month going in for a fitting and getting custom graphite irons made. I hit my 6 iron the best out of my standard set, so im going in thinking it maybe the best length to pick. But whatever length I get the most consistent sweet spot hit with my swing is what we may use. Looking to get a 2 hybrid and 3-pw all same length, but chipping is the strongest part of my game, so may get a standard length for the 54° and 60°.
Sounds like you’re on a great path. I’ve seen guys go the same route with the wedges, and at the end of the day, it’s personal preference. I went with single length wedges as well and my chipping really improved because I can get through taller rough easier and it’s easier out of the bunkers. There’s definitely an adjustment period with the short game, but in the end, I prefer the single length wedges. Keep it in mind. You may even want to get some the same length but game your standard wedges until you get comfortable. Just my 2 cents. But welcome to the club! Good luck on your journey.
I play a variation of the single length. I play the JPX900 Forged Mizuno irons 4 - gap wedge. I have the 6 thru gap wedge in 6 iron length, the 4 and 5 are left as is.
The lengthened “short” irons have a heavier swing weight than before, but it actually feels better and works better for me.
Minor back issues steer me away from the standard short iron lengths.
Shortened my driver to 43” and my fairway woods to 41”. More consistent contact now.

Forgot to add that I kept my 60° lob wedge standard length. For me, it is more consistent out of the green side bunkers and close chipping.

Hey SLS, looking to convert to one length irons this season. Golfed with variable length irons for 10 ish years (21 years old). Not the best golfer, but looking to move to one length irons before I get too consistent with regular clubs as the one lengths make sense. Generally no trouble with all my irons (3, 4, 5 long irons included). Woods and driver need some work.
With that said, how should I set up the PinHawks? Go for the 5-Wedges and straight to 3-5-7 woods. Perhaps go for 4-wedges and 3-5 wood? Maybe some hybrids? PinHawk has some recommendations as wood selection differ slightly from regular length clubs? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Keep of these vids, currently bingeing them to get a proper sense of one length clubs!

Great video Craig, have just gone back to the one length irons myself (f9's 4 & 5 hyb. 6-gw)after trying variable for a while, so much better for consistency. Having real trouble finding a one length sand wedge though, they're hard to find here in the UK so am stuck with my cleveland cbx 56 for now. What grips are you using BTW? Cheers. 👍
Mark L thanks! OL sand wedges are tough everywhere. Best bet is to order through cobra and get on the list, or eBay them. I’ve had better luck on eBay. The grips I have on are ChampKey oversized. Love them and half the price of the big names.

www.milfordgolf.com.au has SL wedges. The LW 60 degree has only 4 degree bounce which is ideal for bare hard lies in summer conditions, not so great for soft conditions though. I used CBX2 ( higher bounce angle) in winter and SL wedges in summer
@Your Average Golfer all my clubs except putter. Same grip so there’s no change in feeling from club to club
setting up hybrids in the same spot doesn't seem to work for me...going to work on it further, but what do you think about moving the ball up an inch or so for a longer (hence...less loft) club? I know the idea is to set up the same for each...but it just doesn't seem to be working for me. I noticed an article with DeChambeau giving some tips, and he mentioned not to hesitate moving the ball around a bit if you're having trouble lofting a club, etc. Curious your thoughts. Thanks.
Bob Ellis I’m absolutely in agreement with you and the article. The tips I’m going with will work for 90 or more % of the one length guys. There are guys that it won’t work for, and they have to adjust. In all honesty, I adjust as well, but more for trajectory reasons, not so much trouble issues. I’d slide it up, and make sure you stay down and through the shot.

What is a good set of irons to start with.
I changed over to one length last summer I had the best year yet with consistency. I want to change my wedges over to one length. How did it affect you out of the sand when you started with the wedges?
More than anything it was just getting comfortable...but I did find it easier to hit sand shots because the wedge is longer. There is some adjustment and comfort with the chipping aspect, too. But it can all be done and you will love the result.
what kinda 1 length cobra irons you recommend for beginners having issue hitting regular irons?
I commented on your comment on the other video as well, but I’d look into the F9 speedbacks or the newer Speedzones. They are a good place to start with one length, especially if you have iron trouble already

When would you recommend for a player to consider going with 8-iron length instead of 7?
Whenever. It more of a comfort level. If you’re more comfy with 8 iron length, then roll with it. You can always test out by gripping a little down on current clubs to see if you get more consistency.
I am having such a hard time swinging my irons indoor on turf. Any suggestions? Outdoor I can swing them crisp and take a divot, but indoor is another story
Indoor is tough...a lot of guys get what I call simulator syndrome, where you’re afraid to swing inside the right way. Especially if you take a divot, mentally your brain knows that your body going to take a shock rather than go through the ground. It’s honestly hard to overcome without blocking everything out. My lesson last night we got into it a little bit because his driver caught a curtain and he got scared. Just focus on ball first.

Just curious about your clubs being 8 iron length. Is it because of your height, or just the most comfortable club length in your bag?
Actually neither. I was originally at 7 iron length with the first 2 sets I had. I ended up choking down a little bit and found the center of the face a lot more often with the same distance. So I’ve been at 8 iron length ever since because I find the center of the face a lot more
If I went by height, I’d probably be at 6 iron length. I’m 6’3”.
@@SimplifyYourSwing thanks for the response. Sorry I didn’t see it earlier. I am not sure if mine being six iron length are too long. I usually hit the ball a little left. I think I’m not hitting it right on the face. I also could be turning my hands over too much and causing the shot to draw 20 yards.
you should look into the EDEL SINGLE LENGTH clubs, he built the clubs that Bryson DeChambeau started with through HIGH SCHOOL and collage before he went to COBRA...have a look at his clubs... he has the best shafts and club head... you can change the weight of the club head youself make them lighter or heaver with an ALLEN WRENCH....

Has anyone noticed improvements in adjusting lie angles? Getting custom fit for one length vs taking a standard set off the rack?
There will always be improvement with custom fit. No swing is the same, which means lie angles should not be standard for everyone. I understand why OEMs do it. But off the rack, your adjusting your swing to the club. Fitted, the clubs are adjust to your swing. That can give almost instant improvement because you just swing your swing.
Do all the clubs have to be the same length or just the irons?

@@manuelespinosa8781 correct. You can take driver and fairway woods a little shorter for better control, but you need the length difference to get the proper distances and flight
Are one lengths good for golfers with high handicaps?
Absolutely! It allows you to become a lot more consistent with all of your iron play. Because all of the irons are the same length, you keep the ball position and swing exactly the same. The clubs will adjust to get the distances. Essentially with a regular set, you have 14 different swings. With one lengths, you have 4 - driver, wood, irons and putter.
@@SimplifyYourSwing Thank you. I've been pulling/hooking the ball with standard irons lately, any suggestions to keep this from happening with single length? Just bought cobra f8s 8-LW from global golf and got the 7 iron from another site.
Pulling/hooking is actually much easier to fix than slicing. There’s a few things that are the most likely cause - a closed club face and ball position. If you want, you can send me a video of your swing and I can tell you for sure. Take one with the camera face on so I can see what the club is doing at impact. If you can’t do that, try moving the ball a little more forward in your stance and open the face slightly before you swing. It should take that pull/hook to a nice draw. Video would help me pinpoint the exact issue.
Since you’ve got one lengths on the way, I would highly recommend working on fixing that issue with your current 7. If you can fix it with that, your one lengths will all be the same setup and same swing.
P.S. before I switched to one lengths, I was nearly a 20 handicap. I got it to single digits with little to no swing change.

How tall are you? What was the reasoning for cutting yours to 8 iron length as opposed to 7?
Hi Robert. I’m 6’3”. I went to 8 iron length for 2 reasons. 1. My arms are a little longer than most and looking at some companies that do wrist to floor for guidance, I fell into the 8I length. 2. I wanted better control and that 1/4” made a difference for me. For some guys, 7I works better, but I’ve been playing them long enough and hit it far enough that I valued the added control over the extra couple yards I’d get with a slightly longer shaft.

Your distances using one-length clubs will likely be different from your current clubs. This is neither good nor bad. It is what it is. Accept it. Make note of what they are. And play accordingly. Some distances will be longer. Some will be shorter. Not a big deal. Your scores will start lowering. Be patient.
You must think people have very poor vision to not be able to tell which club they are holding :)
