    Fun fact: The opening "Specialz" was written from the viewpoint of a cursed spirit. We know that a cursed spirit would find all this death and chaos pleasurable. So Yuji breaking down and crying while they put the opening song is an allegory for Sukuna to mock him and taunt him while he's literally at the lowest point of his life right now

      This is good, and I love the parallels, except Sukuna isn't a curse spirit, he's a curse user, a sorcerer who uses their cursed techniques for malicious purposes. After he was killed, his body was turned into 20 special grade cursed objects by (Spoilers)

    We love seeing the appreciation y’all have for this show! Sukuna has the AURA. And you got to see Megumi finally summon the ace shadow, Mahoraga. As you guys said, free the Mappa team from their working conditions as they have worked incredibly hard and their CEO is just led by greed. I didn’t expect for you guys to love this as much as you did considering the lukewarm reaction to Season 1, but I suppose that’s the power of the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death and Shibuya Incident arcs. When I read this in the manga for the first time recently it was an insane ride and it’s still not over yet.

    We saw multiple times in S1 that Megumi was about to unleash something powerful and throw his life away. But it's so funny that when it FINALLY gets used, it's against Haruta of all people. Mahoraga. Sukuna shows up and has fun for a bit but unlike with Jogo, he realizes that having fun won't be enough for this thing. If it adapts to all of his moves, there won't be a path to victory. So he has to take it out in one blow. Then he demolishes most of the city, annihilates SO MANY PEOPLE(including Haruta who's luck had ran out) and then makes Yuji see and experience it all so he can laugh at his misery. Once again, Sukuna is not Yuji's friend. He is not on his side at all. Yuji's suffering and despair brings Sukuna entertainment. Just like how he laughed with Mahito when Junpei was killed in front of Yuji. He is diabolical. And now, Nanami is back. Nearly burnt to a crisp but still walking. Where does his path lead to, I wonder?

    "Mahoraga" is actually the "mistranslation", you can clearly hear in the episode "Makora", but mahoraga is kinda correct too. it's some complicated japanese language thing.

    • @edgeelric4245
      @edgeelric4245 10 місяців тому +17

      To elaborate "Mahoraga" is a Buddhist/Hindu race of deity like things. If we translate it from the original Sanskrit we get Mahoraga.
      However if we translate it from Sanskrit to Japanese, then the english Phonetic translation is Makora.

    • @znaz8114
      @znaz8114 10 місяців тому +28

    This episode, megumi and the narrator both said makora instead of mahoraga which proved that the English translators all this time lead us astray with the original name in sanskrit instead of how it's pronounced/called in Japanese. Malevolent shrine, cleave and dismantle were mistranslated tho. Crunchyroll really came up with weak sauce like fillet and disect lol Malevolent kitchen isn't exactly a wrong translation as it means both shrine and kitchen but we all prefer shrine xD

      WELL I DONT PREFER SHRINE!
      Really tho, I like kitchen much better, also Fillet and Dissect cause it communicates the cooking theme of Sukuna way better, which is important cause they didnt show the cooking knifes in the anime, so that tidbit is left out the puzzle for anime onlys.

    Just some context from a translators perspective: Makora, Malevolent Kitchen, Fillet, and Dissect aren't mistranslations. They're very literal translations.
    Makora specifically is an actual mythical being in Buddhism, it's just that it's English name is Mahoraga. And again, Sukuna's attacks are translated very literally. The 'spelling' for Kitchen and Shrine are the same so Cleave being 'Fillet' and Dismantle being 'Dissect' check out when you look at it from that angle. Unfortunately Japanese is a language where a lot of it is just interpretations and for some reason the translator for this week didn't check the already established naming convention.
    Things happen. Happy ya'll enjoyed the spectacle of an episode.

    • @lisamarieschnee
      @lisamarieschnee 10 місяців тому +4

      Yeah there are always several translations for every kanji but there is only one that fits the context and kitchen or fillet ain't it lol. The kanji 足 for example can mean foot or sufficient which are obviously very diferent words that have no immediate relation to eachother. Both are correct translations but a translator who actually knows his craft would choose the one that fits the situation.

    • @Mukatutu
      @Mukatutu 10 місяців тому +6

      I don't know why, but Malevolent Shrine sounds much more suitable and divine for someone deemed to be an ancient 'king of curses'. It might be a literal translation, but Malevolent Kitchen took the kick out of it. It sounds so....lame. Just my opinion though, others seem to enjoy it with the "let him cook" memes.
