How to Make a Planter with Corrugated Metal

- This is a great DIY project to add some growing space to your yard. Using pre-treated wood and corrugated galvanized steel roof panels, the planter will last and you’ll be able to maintain that classy look for years to come.
The construction of the planter is made by using pocket holes. The Kreg Jig is a fantastic tool for a DIYer to quickly knock out all kinds of projects, especially outdoor builds like these.

My wife was just taking about wanting planters. She wanted to buy some.... I'm like I got this give me a few hours. Boom! Thanks for sharing. *Chris*
Exactly! Make it dude!
Wow. Great video. My son doesn't know it yet, but he's gonna build some of these for his Momma!! 😉❤️❤️❤️ Thank you.
Vikki, I thought the same thing as I was watching 👀😅❤️
Very Cool.. I don't have all the fancy tools, air gun, mitre saw, but looks like something I can try to do.
These are fantastic!!! Your helper is a rock star! Do you have measurements for this?
Very good video. Well done. Thanks
You're such a show off! 😉 Great job!
Thanks for sharing
Thank you for the video!
Awesome work! 👍🏼
Appreciate it!
Really like this build. Any way you can add wheels to it? Would it support all that weight of the soil and tree
Good job👍👍
Thank you!
I really like the look and style of these planters, well done! Can you advise, as they are metal, do your plant box soil containers dry out quicker? as metal heats up quicker than wood. Many put the corrugated sheets horizontal, but I prefer your version as they look much better!
What is the rough cost per planter here?
I like you planters. Simple yet very stylish. I think I’ll surprise my wife with a few of them.
What size treated wood for the sides and too did you use 1x6?
Thanks! Can’t quite recall. Went with the treated decking boards at Home Depot. Think they were around 1x4s but the thicker 1 1/4”thickness. Wish I could remember.
Does the corrugated metal not bulge? Seems like it wouldn't be strong enough to keep the soil from bulging out the metal?
I am building two 3' x 6' planters. Trying to determine if I should use 2x4s and 4x4 posts instead because of the length. Thoughts?
looks good but I would put a piece of trim in the corners or seal them, dirt and water is going to leak around the corrugated metal making it look like crap over time.
What do you sell those brick cutting boards for?
Thank you for the gtrest video. I love it. What is the name of your pretreated wood? I only see green pretreated wood at Menards. Thank you.
Thanks! These were in the decking section at Home Depot and are labeled as cherry tone.
Menards has Cedartone lumber. It’s treated southern yellow pine. Brown finish-not green. Take a look at it. Good stuff.
Thanks for the helpful video. Did you drill drain-holes in the base? If not how does water drain out?
I did drill some holes. However there are plenty of gaps between the slats on the bottom.
@@SixEightWoodworks Thank you for the reply. I'm considering using a similar design as a balcony flower box.
how come you didn't do the base metal as well?
Nicely done. Question on the Brads, are they galvanised?
Thanks. Yes, galvanized nails. Sometimes I use stainless for outdoor builds too.
so what were the dimentions of your your plante?. how many of each thanks?
It came in at about a 2’x2’x2’ cube. I let the width of the corrugated metal dictate how wide each side would be, to limit the cuts. I made just the two planters.
what gauge corrugated metal? thx
I think it was 31 gauge. Whatever Home Depot had in stock. Was pretty thin, but has held up.
Can you post the measurements
About 30”x30” and 24” tall
No fancy shmancy tools
Oh except 4ft clamps lol
The clamps really aren’t too fancy. You can get 3/4” pipe clamps for ~$19 a clamp from Home Depot along with 10’ of 3/4” black iron pipe or 3/4” galvanized steel pipe for ~$23 to $26. After you have Home Depot cut and thread the pipe you can have two 5’ pipes for ~$70 after tax
Lowe's not Home Depot.
That is a really nice looking box. I just built 10 raised beds using a similar design. I subscribed. If you get a chance, check out our small family farm channel and consider subscribung.
Appreciate it. I’ll check it out!
@@SixEightWoodworks thank you- i appreciate it!
You don’t need fancy smacy tools but it makes what I said about this video being easy with basic tools irrelevant.
