Nearly every vet clinic I've ever taken my pets to looked like it was just a house converted into a vet clinic. Pretty normal around my area.
I feel obligated to share my vet horror story.
When my cat (now 2yo) was a few months old, she was playing at the top of the stairs with my dog when she slipped through the railing and onto the floor below, hitting my mom's desk on the way down. She broke her leg. Problem was, it was the middle of the night so I couldn't take her anywhere until the next morning. They got her in a cast and told me to check her toes regularly to make sure they didn't swell up, because that would mean the cast was too tight and could cut off circulation.
Her toes swelled up a couple days later. But it was the weekend, so the vet was closed and I had to rush her to the emergency clinic. It was 2020, so of course I had to wait outside for literal hours in the car with my mom before they brought her back out in a new cast.
Then we find out that the specific bone she broke could stunt her growth in that leg if it didn't heal properly. She would need expensive surgery. I was fully prepared to let the vet amputate her leg if need be to give her better quality of life.
By some miracle, when they changed her cast and took a look at her leg, it was healing so perfectly she wouldn't even need surgery. She'll have arthritis in that leg when she's older but otherwise she's a happy, healthy, playful little kitty.
I’m so glad it had a happy ending for your kitty! That must’ve been so scary :( my dog means so much to me that any time there’s any kind of problem, he’s straight to the vet. Luckily, he’s very healthy! Wishing you many more loving years with your furry friends ❤❤

One of my favorite builds I've ever done is a farmer vet clinic in Henford! Even though you cant bring your farm animals in to the vet, I love pretending that they care for all kinds of farm animals too :) I also have a GREAT vet story, so my parents have a Great Dane, his name is Philip, he is 2 years old and already like 140 pounds, and we take him to the vet to get fixed and get a couple of vaccines, and my stepmom sends us all a picture of this massive fucking dog fully curled up on my dad's lap while he is getting his shots, because he is literally just a giant baby.
My dañe also curled up in a ball when sleeping on my bed, only a double bed but she was less intrusive than the cats I own (who constantly try and sleep between your legs)

My favorite build is a little cottage spa for Henford! It's far and away my favorite world and I love making builds for it.
I've never heard of someone starting school that early in August😯. When I went to school (In Europe, Austria), it usually started in September and summer vacation/break lasted for 2 months (July and August). University, on the other hand, starts in October so you have 3 months of summer vacation (July, August, and September) which I'm so grateful for.
Never actually bought Cats and dogs, but it looks like so much fun playing with pets and being able to play as a vet.
The veterinary hospital I did volunteer work at had an entire separate kitchen/dining area for the employees since they were pretty understaffed and open 24/7. I had always thought it was weird that the Pawspital didn't come with one since the vet career in TS4 is pretty time-consuming!!
I'm taking my cat to the vet tomorrow, and last time he pooped in the cage, broke out of the cage, went into my lap while I was driving, and had a panic attack. so I can't sleep cause I'm worried, let's watch someone build a vet clinic instead.
edit: for anyone invested, I managed to get him to the vet, not the time after writing this, but eventually. His name is lillebjørn, which is norwegian for little bear
Talk to your vet they can give you some medication to help calm him down some. Then the whole thing will be easier and safer for you, him and even the vet staff.
There’s a natural anti-anxiety medicine for cats and dogs called Zylkene, I use it for my dog when there’s fireworks or thunder. She’ll still be scared but won’t go into a panic.
This won’t help for this visit, but I would recommend taking your cat on car rides to places that are not the vet! My old cat had terrible anxiety like this, so we started by just leaving her in her carrier at home for a few minutes, then hanging out in the car in the garage for a few minutes, then driving for a few minutes, and eventually driving the same amount of time it would take to get to the vet. She was eventually tolerant of the car rides (although she never liked them) and it made it easier to drive her around.

This build came at the right time. I'm playing a short lifespan legacy, and my gen 2 heir got the animal lover trait when they became a child, so I decided that they will run a vet clinic.
I would love to see a disability update in this game. Prosthetics, wheelchairs, blind sim and deaf sims who use sign language. Especially disability accessible lots with ramps and other accommodations. It would add so much realism and visibility to a game that, so far, is doing well to keep up with the modern world. Maybe even an update to the pets pack with service animals
I feel like wheelchairs would be impossible at this state. Because most lots in the game cannot be made wheelchair accessible.

It's like they're trying to be all inclusive by catering to the LGBTQ+ crowd and POC and different cultures (which is amazing), but if those are they only groups they're catering to then it's not really being all inclusive because there are many groups of people they're leaving out. Where are the sims with disabilities or mental illness? What about religious people? What about people from all the cultures and countries they haven't included in the game yet? There is not much, if anything, that is based around elders either.

I was literally just wondering how old Kayla’s siblings are because last I remembered, her sister was 13 and that was a long time ago and you know aging exists IRL lol. I can’t believe she’s like about to graduate next year. When I started watching Kayla, Kayla was in high school (the Susan days lol). Time flies buddies
Her brother is 18 and her sister is 17. Kayak is the oldest and she's 23.
Recently I found an odd raised "lump" on the back of my cat's neck. My mum and I drove her to the vet, the cat yowling desperately in the back, both of us very worried obviously hoping it wasn't cancer. The vet took her out of the carrier, took one look at the "lump" and told us it was just a huge deer tick. Took about ten seconds to pull out. Anyway, it gave us a good excuse to get Pepper her cat flu shots.
i’m a newish simmer (been playing less than 6 months) i built a vet clinic with very similar set up to the preexisting clinic in brindleton bay, but i added a cat room with a sunroof!! this was one of my first builds and i am very proud of it lol

When my dog was 7 I think he was bleeding from his “parts” too. I had to get a urine sample from him. Turned out he needed to be fixed because he had a build up of testosterone. Thank god for pet insurance! He’s going to be 9 in November and a very happy and good boy

Speaking of these jobs in ts4, I really do wish they'd add a lot type that's business/residence. Like imagine if you had a bakery or restaurant or vet clinic or if (and I wish they'd do this too) they made it so you could make small clinics separate from the hospital that you could run and then live at the same lot. Or if you could have a shop on the ground level and then apartments above, that'd be really cool.
I do like the clinic idea too bc gameplay wise it'd be more fun. You can go to the hospital for births or big things but like if you need medicine or just a check up you could go to a clinic. There's a lot of things I think they can do either with ts4 or eventually 5 too to integrate gameplay of the different packs better even if you don't have an open world.
If you can/do play with mods, littlemssam has a mod for live-in businesses. I know it's not the same as EA adding it in though

I played as a vet just recently. My NSB pink gen's dream was to own a vet clinic, loved it. My sims would live above the clinic from Monday to Friday and then move back into their home every Friday to spend the weekend at home. And school always starts on the 1st of September. It's called the day of smartness and we have a formal opening ceremony on that day.
I love playing with the vet clinic in the Sims, since I'm a vet student irl lol.
In my country school starts in February, so way different than Florida.
I actually built a vets not that long ago for Gen 3 of my legacy save (currently on gen 5)! I weirdly built something very similar, kinda loved playing with it tbh.
School for me always started the Tuesday after Labor day inSeptember. It was the same for my children. But now it is earlier, my grandchildren are starting on August 29. I love your clinic. I had 1 sim be a vet last spring. Now I would have them live upstairs or else have their house next door to the clinic. But I haven't done that yet. When I was a kid we moved cross country by car from Virginia to Seattle, Washington. Our cat screamed the first 4 days all day. She lost her voice the 5th day in Kansas. We were visiting moms family as we crossed the country so she could see them a last time. The entire trip took 2 weeks. This was before interstates were built, so roads were very slow. My worst time driving was 5 miles to the hospital with my daughter in hard labor. It was so hard to not cry but I had to see the road. LOL
There's a vet where I live that has an obstacle course for dogs. It's a combination of a vet clinic, pet training and doggy daycare. This is a cute vet clinic. I have probably played with the vet thing, maybe three times in all the years I've played Sims. lol
Im 24 now and when I was a kid school usually started second week of September although the last 2 years of high school it was closer to the start of September. It always sounds so weird to me when people are talking about school starting in August still since thats just not common here. I live in the province of Alberta in Canada. Also thanks for reminding me about the vet career! I definitely wanna make a sim now to try the content all over again!

In my area they started school in July this year! They only get 7 weeks of summer now. I'm 24 as well, when I was in school we usually started in early August. I think where I live it makes sense though, as summers are too hot for kids to do much outside so they benefit more from longer breaks during the year.
I’m Canadian too (Ontario), and I’m always surprised and alarmed to discover Americans go back to school before labour day. We always start the day after labour day for grade school.

Here in Namibia;Africa our school year starts around 10-15 of january and ends late november early december we have 3 quarters in the school year. After each quarter there is a "little" holiday some longer than others
Yes, Kayak. Animal kingdom is addicting. Very addicting. I’ve been playing it 24/7. I haven’t eaten or drank any water in 3 weeks. I played it while I was getting married, while my rabbits were giving birth, and at my uncle’s funeral. A very amusing game. The only reason I got to this video was because my phone set on fire 3 minutes ago. I’ve been having constant panic diarrhea. I hope it stops soon 😃

2) I’m not in school anymore but my mom’s district started back August 4th. When I was still in school our first day was usually the first or second week of August (in Georgia, US).
Rewatching this after 8 months and I can't believe Kayla said she struggles with community lots. Considering the absolutely amazing builds she has done on her channel, as well as the Rec Centre for Growing Together, I'm just amazed at what she does 🥰💅✨
A funny thing happened with the vet in my game last night actually. This was one of the first times I had ever placed down extra houses and filled them with some of my old sims to fill out the lots in my save a bit. Anyway, one household was an elder with three cats, one of them was called Pickles and I loved him. About forty minutes later I get a few notifs in game saying Pickles and the other cats have been adopted by another household so I was like 'Aw, the old lady died :('. When the sim I'm playing with ages up I move her out to her own house and decide to get a cat because her spouse had the animal lover aspiration, I called the cat Nougat and she's very cute. Nougat gets sick so I have to take her to the vet, during the loading screen I start talking to myself about how cute Pickles was and it would be funny if he was at the vet too. I load in and there's Pickles, who was at the vet because he turned blue. It made me laugh a lot because I was just thinking about Pickles and all of a sudden there he is haha

I live in NY and my area starts the day after Labor Day - September 6 this year. What they do in one of the local districts is have 6th and 9th grade (first year middle, first year high school) start on the "first day" and then everyone else comes in the day after. In my current district (I teach middle school), everyone starts on the same day. In terms of the vet clinic Sim stuff, I didn't do a whole lot of gameplay with it. I remember messing with the existing lot, then trying to build my own and playing in it, but after that I moved on. It happens every time there's a new pack: I'll take some time to play it and explore the new content, then quickly move on to what I was doing before. lol

In terms of when is "back to school season" in Canada; it varies by province/territories so in the first two weeks of September.
My dog’s first vet IRL was a weird residence/business place! Once you parked in the parking lot, the vet was on like a split deck so if you went to the right, it was the vet office and if you went to the left, it was their house. It was a little weird to me but also seemed convenient

I live in Georgia and our schools nearby go back on August 5th. The southern states go back beginning of August because we are the more "farmland" focused states and August is the end of harvest season. Back when families had a bunch of kids (because having a big family was cheaper than hiring farm help) the school started after the kids had done their part on the farms.
My daughter started school on August 8th here in Denmark! School seems to start earlier here than in the US.
Also, the last time I ran a vet clinic was a few months ago because I've been going through and playing with the careers I haven't ever played with or I haven't played with in years (like the vet).

school for me always started around or on my birthday (august 18th) my very first day of school was on my 5th birthday. what a gift.
In Russia we start school on September 1st. Everytime and everywhere. September 1 - Knowledge Day, school starts on this day, university, even kindergarten (since summer is holidays). Some universities start their studies on the Monday of the week of September 1st. Schools often do not hold classes on September 1st.

This reminds me a little of my current vet. Very cozy and homey. It is actually a large home where they converted the bottom floor into their vet clinic. They still live upstairs. I LOVE going there! Such a warm atmosphere! Well done @lilsimsie!
We have one cat who is almost claustrophobic and hates his carrier. We moved two hours away with him and our other kitty who was previously a very quiet boy. We had kitty sounds of their people all ride long, howls and all, and by the end of the drive the other cat had picked up the cue to yell for help when in distress.
Now he meows all sad any time he wants doors open. 😅

taiwan starts school in september where i’m born, but i’m based in singapore now and we start school in january (weird). singapore doesn’t experience seasons like a base game sims 4 so it makes slightly more sense but still it doesn’t.
In Washington, our school starts about Sep. 7 and it's always after Labor Day. I don't have cats and dogs yet, but super excited to play with it and your vet clinic once it goes on sale again. :)

I work at a veterinary clinic and the madnip made me laugh a little bit, thinking of fractious/caution patients. There's a one at my clinic that's possibly the angriest cat I've ever seen (And I've seen a lot of angry cats.) The warning on his chart was *"Caution. He is not your friend."*
As for urine collection: there's a few different ways to get it. For owners collecting urine samples at home.. soup ladles.
Question answers - Last time I went to school was almost 10 years ago, So I don't remember when it started & I have only played the vet career twice in the sims. Once when it released to see if it was at all accurate and once when playing the Delgato family.
I played a teen vet before watching this video and I started building a clinik yesterday. It was in 1970 I went to school for the first time.
Teens who have graduated early are perfect vets.
It is not lukrative to work as a vet, so it's more like a something I like to do a little, from time to time.
Here in Italy we start school mid September! Our school infrastructure is very hold and in 96% of cases cannot have AC installed and when it’s 100º F outside it’s impossible to stay in class, so we get mid June till mid September off, but no spring break and only a couple days around Christmas
southern states go to school early because of how hot it gets during the summer.. theyre probably predicting an early summer at the end of the school year. In PA school typically starts after labor day.

In Spain Kayla, we start school at 7of September this year. But usually we started by the 12th of September. I quite a big difference from the US. I'm a highschool teacher and we start the 1st of September.

Here in Brazil, schools start in February or March in some schools, there is a 2-week break in July and the school year ends between November and December depending on the school.
At my school, the school year usually started on February 14th and ended on December 22nd.

I’m taking three of my buns to the vets tomorrow for their dental check ups. Vets are such incredible people but man it’s so anxiety filled going there!
It is the middle of term three here in Western Australia. School begins in late Jan/early Feb, usually as close to Feb 1 as possible. It ends in December, usually between the 16th and 19th. There are three breaks through the year, of two weeks each. So usually April, July and sept/oct with each school term being 10 weeks.
schools start in february here in Brazil. if they’re late they’ll start in march but it is uncommon. most schools will wait for the Carnaval holiday to pass so they can start, so it’s like mid february

Our county fair is the last weekend of August, always. It is a big event in our community because of large agriculture. Therefore, our schools start the first Monday (or in the case of Labor Day, Tuesday) of September. Our daughter goes back to school on Tuesday, September 6.
I play quite often with the vet clinic when I play and not just build. I love the career and also have not that many packs, so its easier to choose. I live in Lower Austria and here school starts in September.

I’m glad the pets are doing ok. I had to take my lab to the vet last month she jumped out of our small work truck when we were doing yard work and broke her paw. Scared us so bad and I couldn’t even drive her to the vet I was hysterical. Good news is she’s doing much better but I think our cat is making fun of her cone.
For my cat who also hats cars. When I take him to the vet my family bought one of the cat/small dog backpacks. While he's in the car it's easier because I can leave the top open to pet him to calm him down. Also my vet thinks it's hilarious when I walk in or they collect him from my car and I have him strapped to my back or chest in the backpack

I work at a vet so I use vet clinics and the cats and dogs pack all the time in my gameplay! Also, please always be nice to your vet staff! COVID was terrible for the vet industry, I should know, I worked at an emergency vet doing curbside during it. Plus a ton of people adopted during COVID bc they had a year off of work to do nothing else, so now it can be super hard to be seen at your local vet's office. Please be kind! People can be atrocious about their pets. I have 5 of my own, I get it, but I would never speak to anyone the way I have been by pet owners the past couple of years. I promise, anywhere you go, true emergencies are ALWAYS prioritized. Everyone is doing the best they can, especially considering how many people left the industry during COVID due to the abuse from clients. Everywhere is overbooked and short staffed. BE KIND!
My school started in September but in Germany it actually depends on the "state". Summer holidays is 6 weeks and they shift it so that not all states have free at the same time. I moved once in high school and ended up with 11 weeks, as I moved from an "early" state to a "late" state.

I graduated high school a few months ago, but I still know when it’s starts xdd… Here, in Bulgaria, school starts on 15th September and it’s a whole thing on its own… it’s almost an official holiday. There is celebrations, music, the principal does a speech, three greeting the first graders… or it’s like that in my school at least

2) im from czech republic and here school starts around 1st september every year (depends on which day of the week it falls onto of course) and finishes around 30th june for everyone (meaning elementary, middle a high school, unis have it a bit different). so every kid has summer vacation at the same time - whole july and august. so yeah we have very long summer break and then some short breaks during the year (fall break is 3-5 days depending on schools (usually 3), christmas break around week or two? depending on when christmas is, spring break is one week and when you have it depends on which ?district? your school is in? so its always in feb/march but when exactly changes every year; and then easter break is like 5 days including weekend (thu-mon)). another fun fact about czech schools, we have 9 years of primary education that you start at 6/7yo, and then 4 years of hs, so most people go to uni at 19 or 20yo!
Here in Mexico school usually starts at August 20 something but only for elementary and junior high students. Most highschools and universities start school as soon as August comes, I myself started school since August 1st

I'm an art teacher in Indiana and we started back at the end of July. I'm also working on a masters, and those classes started at the beginning of August. Indiana started having the school year begin early 10-15 years ago. Most K-12 goes from July to May.
I have 1 cat now who is very loud if he has to go to the vet. But I had a cat many years ago who would throw up and poop himself if he had to go, and often before we even left our street so we could enjoy the aroma the entire way.
I actually play as a vet a decent amount, im surprised alot of people dont! i find that aspect of it really fun and a little bonus is its a great way to get more aquaintences who probably dont even know my sims name so i can invite them to my wedding so it doesnt look empty >:3

That story of her dog bleeding reminded me of this time my dog knocked over the garbage can found some chicken and ate all of it even the bones and afterwards she was pooping blood for like a week
This is a really cute build! Schools start up at the start of September around here, usually about 4th-9th in my experience - though when I started university we didn't start until October, which was really weird to me
