Stuck in the elevator

Got stuck on the elevator at the Greensboro, NC DoubleTree. I didn't feel alone though. How could I with the creepy voice over the intercom providing me with these updates. I did take time to confirm that the inspection report was up to date. Hotel staff was great and saved the day.

For some reason the elevator's controller lost power briefly and rebooted itself. For some reason these run through all of the voice recording files as part of their startup routine. It's strange

@@JackRFallBreak It mostly happens on power outages, and other similar situations. But not all the time.

It is a way of checking for problems with the ROMs or other stored data before the elevator goes back into service. It is a common thing with mission critical equipment that it checks all data stored on them to see if there is any possible flaw that could cause major issues in operation. I think the reason why it does the voice vocabulary is just a aural way for a tech to see if it has performed these checks, as well as to test and check the presence of any custom vocabulary that might be installed.

The reason why you were stuck was because for some reason the power was switched off for the elevator and then turned back on and then went through the voice vocabulary

The "-- --" means that the elevator has lost position of that floor, or it doesn't know what floor it's on. This may even happen in other scenarios via its indicator glitching; etc.
