Outer Banks/Custom Hydraulic Elevator At The Beach House I stayed at in Nags Head, NC

- This is the Interesting Elevator at the Beach House I Stayed at when visiting the Beautiful Outer Banks in North Carolina, in particular, Nags Head. This elevator was pretty interesting, and it was cool I had my own personal elevator the week I was here!!! I also demonstrate a bunch of cool feature this thing has, including the safety feature where the elevator stops moving when you open the door and when you shut it, it restarts. (DO NOT TRY THING WITH ANY OTHER ELEVATORS AS THEY MAY GET STUCK, KEEP MOVING OR INJURE OR KILL YOU, AND IF IT HAS AN ACTUAL INTERLOCK, IT CAN BE TAMPERING) This is a problem that home elevators have had, that this one doesn't. Also, I did a twilight ride and multiples POVs in this video, and this video also feature a look at the MACHINE ROOM!!!! I showed all of the parts of the elevator, but didn't touch anything. NEVER TOUCH ANYTHING IN A MACHINE ROOM, AS IT COULD INJURE OR KILL YOU!!! And I looked inside, as this was a house my family rented and stayed at, DO NOT ENTER A MACHINE ROOM IN A PUBLIC/PRIVATE COMMERCIAL BUILDING, AS YOU COULD CHARGED FOR TRESSPASSING!!! Anyways, this elevator has a nice curtain style gate, and has Dewhurst US90 Fixtures (not US81 Like I said in the video, my bad..). The elevator was installed by Outer Banks Elevator Company, but the motor was manufactured by Custom Elevator Corporation. Anyways, with that being said, enjoy a ride, on my VERY FIRST RESIDENTIAL ELEVATOR!!!!!

This has to be a dream come true for a lot of us in the elevator community to have such thing inside a house! I'm sure it was a lot of fun to have your own elevator while you were staying there! Great find!
Very Nice! I had been riding one of those since I was 7-8 years old in a house that we rented in Captiva FL, It was called White Pelican and it is a 3-story house and i have been riding it many many times.

Very cool that you were able to stay in a place with a residential elevator! Was it just the three of you in that giant place? You could each get your own floor, haha. Cool you were able to look at the pump. I'm surprised its a hydraulic and not traction.

I rode an elevator at Six Flags Magic Mountain on the Riddler's Revenge ride. The elevator was bouncing and stopped and I opened the door and I almost got stuck, but not quite because after several attempts, the elevator finally made it leveled to the 1st floor.

Hey that was right down the street from the house I rented in OBX! I was in Kill Devil Hills and my friend and I rode the elevator and we got stuck for like 20 seconds and the light went off. We thought the power went out but I got it going. I turned off the elevator and turned it back on. It started moving again.
I stayed in a beach house nearby called Turtle Nesting (i think to the best of my knowlege) It was a lovely 3 story beachside home with a ThyssenKrupp LEV home elevator. It was a very nice place

Did the realtors give you any information for what to do if the elevator broke or got stuck? I'd want to know how they would handle it if someone staying in the house got stuck.

No, the gate (and hoistway door) has to be closed for the elevator to work.

There's a lock, it won't let you open the outside doors until the elevator is on whatever floor ur trying to enter from.

I'm on their side, honestly. They just wanted to know how much it was to rent the house. They probably want to get an idea for a budget if they plan to vacation there.
Yeah, Top Hound has a point. I remember once we asked people who were staying at different hotels about their stays when we had to leave our house for a week during renovations. It's good to get information from people besides the landlord to get a view on what exactly the stay is like from an unbiased perspective.

Top Hound LOL. Yeah. Dewhurst doesn't bother me in the US, cause of how rare it is. But soon, I'm actually going to Canada where Dewhurst is like everywhere!!!
Theres a lot of Dewhurst in California thanks to a local company.
As far as I know, most of the ERM buttons (at least the common ones) were made before Dewhurst bought ERM, and are not based on Dewhurst designs, so I don't consider them Dewhurst buttons. On the other hand, they do appear to sell US91BB buttons under the ERM name, though those seem to be rare, I have only seen those once. Not sure if those buttons have ERM, or Dewhurst internals. I think the Dewhurst buttons I found while I visited Canada in 2012 felt higher quality than ERM buttons.
Floridian Elevators 99% of the elevators in Canada have the “gross” type of Dewhurst.
