That little banshee of a vocalist is called Mayu. She was around a few years before Nemophila but apparently she’d had some thoughts… She’s described Nemophila as the “loose and fluffy band with a sound from hell”, and if you watch more of their stuff, it will become very apparent why.
When they came along three years ago I was sold by their first single “Oiran” and found out soon after they were doing online live shows during the pandemic. I nearly missed the first one so I started a Facebook group so I wouldn’t miss any. That worked out. 😊
Another emerging darling of the genre is Hanabie. They are Harajukucore. They are 🔥🔥🔥🔥

@@Killermcknight After listening to Raitei again, I wouldn’t say it’s exactly a breakdown, more them just getting really heavy. They aren’t really into breakdowns, they are more known for their twin guitar solos. Both guitarists, Saki and Hazuki, are extremely talented, recognized guitarists. The entire band is made up of elite artists from other groups.

I agree Mayu’s English is fairly easy to understand. What really impresses me is she doesn’t speak it, aside from compulsory Junior/High School classes! Saki is the only member with a good understanding of the language due to her parents speaking it around the house (work related). That is why Saki does most of the English speaking for the group in interviews.

Mayu, vocals, formed the band to help create some demos for her to get another gig. Her band Lipstick broke up. She got highly talented and skilled musicians from a number other bands. Saki and Hazuki on guitar, Haraguchi on bass and Tamu Murata on drums. They enjoyed playing together and they meshed musically, so they decide to make the band permanent.
On July 1 they performed at the sold-out Whisky a Go Go for their first overseas gig.
There are 200+ Rock/Metal bands in Japan right now, and most of them are female or has a female(s) as a key member. You need to pick up the pace with your Japanese band reactions. You are falling behind.
Next - Lovebites, Unlucky Morpheus, Babymetal, Aldious, Bridear, and Scandal just for a start. Oh, just for fun Hanabie "We Love Sweets"!!

new to your channel and specially as a NEMOPHILA fan
Fun fact : 10/10 times peeps first listen to them and start with that very song, the face at the moment of the scream... that's always the best part of the video 😂
If I really really had to choose only 10 songs from them that I would listen over and over, that would be my top 10 of theirs
    1 - Dissention / 2 - Life / 3 - Monsters / 4 - Game Over / 5 - Ray of Light / 6 - Style / 7 - Hypnosis / 8 - Hōzuki / 9 - Revive / 10 - Seize the Fate
Now apart from NEMOPHILA, if you are up for an other Japanese metal band you seem to not have checked yet : Unlucky Morpheous
That's my second preferate Japanese metal band, and here again, like in all japanese metal bands, you will simply find insanely talented musicians at all their positions, but here there are mainly 3 positions you may find interesting, while ofc the 2 guitarists and the bass player are no slouch (very far from it), but from "worse" to "best" Fuki's voice is something, Fumyia's drumming is insane, and Jill's.... oh well I'll let you find about Jill...
"M" Anthem MV a quite recent song ua-cam.com/video/WoUzaVI0paY/v-deo.html
And if yoou want to witness "how bad they are" (sarcasm ofc) live, you can check that one, Black Pentagram ua-cam.com/video/RUiRlUGMTwY/v-deo.html
Anyway, fun to see one more on that Japanese metal journey... deep rabbit hole, and one you can actually go visit yourself, as sometimes there are gems that are well lesser known, but far away from having to be diss... In that vein, Asterism, the creepy voices and visuals of NECRONOMIDOL, the quieter Bridear, the older Aldious, the old punky rock from Anna Tsuchiya, the trio of Trident, etc... that journey can be a long one, with a lot of flavors so different from western metal / hard rock.

What's funny is that the vocalist, the currently-pregnant Mayu, was in a band called Lipstick where I don't think she ever did harsh vocals (and was known as Sindy). The guitarists are Saki and Hazuki. Saki was in Mary's Blood, a group that more or less split up earlier this year, and has a solo album out there. Hazuki was in Disqualia and the Li-Sa-X Band, two groups that didn't last too long. The bass guitarist, Haraguchi-san, is a friend of Mayu's from high school - I can't remember if she was in any previous groups - and Tamu Murata was a well-known studio drummer. They all got together because Mayu wanted to do a solo show after leaving Lipstick, but they felt that they were too good to have that show be all they did.
As for my top five, it's tough to narrow it down to five, but here's my list in no particular order.

You pronounced it correctly, except the last two letters - which are LA and pronounced "luh" . . . I have no idea how you got "lee-uh" out of that.
No offense, but I've dealt with this all my life. The last two letters of my last name are "no", and it's pounced, well, . . NO. For some inexplicable reason, people always say the end of my name as "lee". For the life of me, I can't figure out how people get 'lee" out of "no".

I hadn't heard of them before but that was great! Loved the drummer especially. There is another JRock/Deathcore/Death metal band named Deviloof. They are so damned good! I have to drop a link to the song i'm suggesting bc I have no clue how to translate the title. You will not regret this! I promise. ua-cam.com/video/LWDENni6Pbc/v-deo.html

In my opinion, however, the two bands are not comparable.
Nemophila is not a death metal band. Dissension might be their hardest song.

@@Killermcknight most of these Japanese singers like saiki and miku from BAND-MAID have extraordinary skills, because they have coaches they train with several times a week and really practice hard. So the answer is "I don't know" but the guy from Linkin Park did it too. Saiki's skills and versatility are outrageous, she doesn't roar because it wouldn't go with her image.
I've seen miku on tiktok doing one of these hyper fast vocal challenges and totally ace it with 100% accuracy.

@@Killermcknight one thing that is really obvious once you listen to her roar here is that her throat is totally open and relaxed - whatever she's doing it's not like the tense untrained noise most guys do and she's also not trying to "roar as well as a guy" like most female metal artists. All these Japanese women are totally relaxed at simply being way better and it doesn't go to their heads, partly because their friends are similar and also they know they've really put in the hours.

You should definitely check out Maximum The Hormone. Their drummer Nao has been a huge inspiration to many of the great japanese female musicians you are enjoying now. Including Band Maid and Nemophilla. I would recommend you start with the track Yoshu Fukushu to ease yourself into them as they have no qualms about mashing genres together often in the same song. Nemophilla also does covers of the M.T.H. songs Shimi and Zetsubou Billy.
