I spooled it with 8 LB test mono for lighter lures, gave it some practice casts and found that it did cast well ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e , except that the anti-backlash setting had to be turned up almost all of the way to keep the "overcasts' ' down. I disassembled it, and found that if I potted some "shim washers" behind that anti-backlash magnet assembly, it got the magnets closer to the spool without rubbing, and I could get better control with about a 6 to 7 out out 10-Max setting. I also noticed that the handle shaft had some internal end play, maybe only 2 or 3 thousands of an inch, but it's still noticeable. If the anti-backlash and shaft tolerances were "tightened up" this would be a fantastic value. I've only used it for 4 days of fishing in a month's time, but I plan on keeping it.
Love watching this kinda of fishing small basic boat fishing, that’s how I fish on my small boat so easy to relate !! Thank you! God bless you and your family
1rod That would be so dope if you made a fishing tackle video of going through your bag and showing us how you organize your tackle boxes please think about it!
Great vid! I do believe there is a way to lip pickerel. If you close their mouth and hold it from the outside you can find a little divit where you can grip them!

Este lugar es increíble, tiene peces grandes.👍🎣😊 Enhorabuena, tienes un equipo de pesca fantástico. Me encantó el video. Abrazos desde Brasil.
That stick fish made me laugh, I thought 1rod had a giant. Reminds me of when I was fishing the rivers of Argentina and just kept hooking rocks fishing a bottom swim bait. Tight lines.
Using a net or reaching down into the water to grab the fish is always advisable. Don't want you to break your line or catch a hook in the face holding a squirming fish out of the water letting gravity help it break free.
You killed me when you said, hooked into a nice tree pounder while bringing the stick in. That was a good one. God bless you and your family Mike, I enjoy the vids!!
The fact you were going to lip that Pickerel had me on the edge of my seat! - you have to grab them by the gills or obviously behind the head. Love ya bud keep casting!
If you tire pickerel out more instead of just landing them straight away, they would be easier to handle. That's pretty much key for any tricky to handle species. I do that for gar, Bowfin, and catfish.
I have been watching your videos for 4 or 5 years now and they keep getting better and better i would enter your competition but im on the other side if the us but im glad to see your channel grow every day keep it up.
Let’s go 1 rod I started watching you atleast 6 years ago i never fully stopped watching but I been slacking starting now I’m gonna like all your new video’s
Loch Raven is very tricky this time of year! I prefer natural presentations like Shad colored swimbaits on jigheads or finesse worms on shaky heads. Also the weightless rigged lunker log (senko style) bait works great too! Lots of people skunk at loch Raven, but once you figure the place out it’s an amazing place to fish!! 🎣👊
@@1Rod1ReelFishing Thanks so much man! Next time I’ll be sure to use these tips next time. I was using a wacky rigged senko at first today and then switched to a craw and lastly to a chartreuse and white chatter bait but had no luck. Hopefully next time it’ll be better using those suggestions though! 🎣 ❤️
I'm like you 1Rod. I have a kayak and enjoy it but grinding on the bank is what makes me happy. I picked up a Deeper as well and it's pretty awesome what's its done for my knowledge of the ponds/lakes I fish from the bank or kayak. Don't get me wrong I love rolling on a boat on the water and getting to spots quick but landing a 6lb from the bank is a great feeling. Long time viewer man keep it rolling man!
The Raven. I caught a 41 and 1/2 in Northern in 2002 (Tied with the current State Record length), Pops caught a 19 in crappie (state record 1979). Too bad the Pickerel have taken over. Great Vid!
I use a textured runner glove to get a good grip on the Snot Rocket. It is a great game fish but is hard to unhook without the right glove and needlenose pliers or such. If you catch and eat fish they are one of the best if you filet them right (see UA-camr videos). The meat is white and flaky like Halibut.
Bro ive been hooked by them toothy little slime darts! With a mini klutch! Theyre mean I got hooked while the treble was also still in his mouth and the other treble hooked my jeans, while sitting on a kayak! If my boy wasnt there, i would have been screwed! My hand was pinned to the fish and my jeans and I almost passed out lol
@1Rod1ReelFishing oh dude, by far my sketchiest fishing moment ever! I'm from NY, so we don't deal with gators or anything, but I did have a beaver come straight for my kayak but dove into the water and disappeared like 10 feet from me, lol crazy times on the water! But can't beat the fun of it!
62-66 degrees ny man!..your bass are up doing their spawning thing or have just completed it.Your throwing moving baits getting active feeding fish (pickerel)when you should be SLOWING down throwing in back of pockets , spawning flats or nearest structure close to those areas with a texas rig, drop shot or wacky rig.C'mon One Rod,your experienced,Its not summertime where you fish fast on deeper points yet lol
Awesome vid mike hope you have a great rest of your Sunday I hope maybe in the future I run into you or get a chance to fish with you keep up the amazing videos
Damn bro I fish the loch everyday after work, wish I knew u were gonna be there. They're getting ready to spawn. It's been tough lately, they're stalking shad that are feeding on the rocks at the bank
You probably wont read this but if you do just curious if you have ever fished triadelphia reservoir? I know you've fished cattail creek country club ponds which is close but don't think I've ever heard you mention triadelphia. Country club on one side of my house and tridelphia on the other side lol. Little cattail creek runs behind my house heading toward triadelphia. Nobody fishes it and it is loaded with small bass. Buddy and i have fun catching the little guys once in a while.
Jr Scouts have been my favorite since they came out, I just recently Broke mine off and haven’t been financially able to replace it, just waiting until I am able to (:
For pickerel, pike, and musky you can hold the fish under it gill plate. If you hold the bottom one it is safe for the fish and you are safe from the sharp teeth
Great video! im actually going fishing later today gonna try to catch some bluegills, and maybe a bass edit:Caught some bluegills and crappies got a 9 in crappie and a 7 inch bluegill
i tried an i tried telling people this you don't need to break the bank . buying the most top of the line reels pole's fishing boats . just do go fishing . most i ever spent on a bait caster was 80$ i don;t need a 200$ 300$ reel 300$ rod 50$ bait to catch a fish. if fishing tournaments allow me to use my 5 hp johnson with my 8 ft 2 man plastic boat . best beleave if im not working i will be fishing . i would love to win a nice truck an a boat . lol sell the boat an get some more fishing gear . pay some bills off lol . but i do not think they would allow some one with a small boat to fish the big ones
@@1Rod1ReelFishing 😂 I knew it did the first 5 minutes using it. It kept telling me there's fish in a foot of water. I could see there was no fish but rocks.

These are the videos I miss. Feels like the good ol days that I could rewatch over and over. Loch Raven videos always deliver!
It’s cool that they have boats available to you!! I wish my lakes did that!
I’ll stay in the kayak for now 💪🏽
They are rentals

Thats why its good to wear some sort of eye protection a hook you can pull out of your hand ..
I broke my hand so I can’t do anything, So I watch 1ROD all day!😅
I wish you a speedy recovery, i recently broke my ankle and have been binge watching 1 rod as well 😅
I just broke a finger on purpose so I can stay home all week and wach one rod
You can go for a run

That scared me to for you on that fish that came off. Work on landing them without a hook flying towards your hand.

Because of you 1rod I caught my largemouth pb of 21 inches and 6.5 pounds yesterday and it was a very exciting moment 🎉🎉
Spent the last about 12 hours in the er today for my back this is much needed
Dang bro sorry to hear that :( hope everything is okay now…
Mike -- for the pike, slide up under their gills/gill plate. You hold up into the mouth a little from the gill plate.
can’t wait for more videos in the summer
Same bro 🎣👊
The fact you were going to lip that Pickerel had me on the edge of my seat! - you have to grab them by the gills or obviously behind the head. Love ya bud keep casting!
I like the way you attach the deeper to the rig....... I always do it in a conventional way.
idea? Googan + Shimano reels???
Well said 1rod. Fishing doesn’t need to be complicated or any more expensive than it already is. Bank fishing is just fine I totally agree
This is my home lake let’s fish Mike!

Love when you fish this lake!!

We all have caught the stick fish, all of us, and the weed mat monster, when cat fishing 🎣 😀..
I love your videos they inspired me to be fisherman like you.❤❤
I don’t catch pickerels often, so I gotta make a trip out there just for them.🤣
You’ll catch 10 for every 1 bass 😂😂
@@1Rod1ReelFishing You may not like that ratio, but I LOVE IT.🤣🤣🤣

How long does a battery last in a deeper?

Ibobber is trash I’ve used it, deeper battery lasts 8-12 hours on a charge and actually functions as an accurate sonar device 👍
