    It's so hard to understand what she is saying... She is going around in circles not really saying anything. I hate confusing and vague "academic" speech, just fucking say what you mean.

    But she's never had a real subjective experience of being black or mixed black or whatever so she's just making all this up within the context of having gathered second hand knowledge of such experiences from of other peoples real struggle - faking human connection, empathy and understanding😐. With so much book knowledge on 'blackness' I wonder what benefits she knew she'd be gaining from playing this 'mixed black woman' role besides money and job security.

    Love how it opens with her stating she was unaware this would be filmed. Her face looks a little grayer than normal, so you can tell she was due for another spray tan in the next day or two to touch up.

  • @kayprophet
    @kayprophet 9 років тому +11

    She said "whether it be your hair, or whether your gonna use your ebt card..." -__- I am so over her... As an actual black woman, who can't wash out the texturizer, or stay away from the tanning spot in order to halt my blackness. Or one who faces actual prejudice and socioeconomic hardships because of my ancestry. I am immensely offended by her deceitful actions and totally superficial jargon. Sounds like she's reciting a Black Studies Dissertation, as opposed to genuinely identifying with our struggle and proudly fighting the fight with us.. And I don't want to hear how "regardless of color, she's done so much for Blacks" because the one thing she didn't do and couldn't do, was be more genuine, honest, open and transparent than White Oppressors have been for Generations.. In retrospect. That fact alone shows how much in common she has with the race she swore off along with the family she did the same too.
    Sad..... I'll pray for you Rachel because the way you living, is foul.

    She hasn't lived the life of an average black woman. Even in blackface she's She used cunning since college to gain a high position as a "black woman". People don't just accidentally fall into positions like Leader of the NAACP. Point is she has been lying for years. What she did was for her own egotistical gain. The good she's done for black people is only a side effect to her self inflicted need to be victimized and also praised for overcoming it. This is literally a narcissistic form of histrionic personal disorder.

      Cha Anebe I get the feeling that at this time in 2014, the interviewer didn't know for SURE she was black, BUT had some reservations and that's why she chose her. Rachel seemed to be getting antsy in the beginning especially when she asked her, "where are you from?!...do I have an [accent]" She wanted to check to make sure the interviewer wasn't on to her.

    To be judged by the color of your skin and not your character, to be told you're smart and not like most black people, that you speak like you're white, to be trusted with hate comments because they feel you're different and they speak freely around you, to be followed around while shopping like you might steal something, to listen in as you are denied an apt because you're black and they didn't realize you were listening.
    Now tell me what is your experience Rachel these are just a few of mine as a black teen and woman and I'm not mad these things don't define me.

      They had to do it this way... because the credentials and intelligence it to obtain this high level position.....
      They could not get a educated black person to turn out their people....
      So they boldly put their own in there...

    Interviewer needs to tone down the "likes", like, you know?

  • @pocu321
    @pocu321 9 років тому +4

    I could only stand 'like' a minute of it, 'like'.....I was totally sick. In all seriousness, I used to be part of this subculture from about the age of 16 to 20. One day I realized, people would like me a lot more if I just decided to act.....like myself. I stopped the fake slang and became as country-bumpkin-as-I-wanna-be, and I not only did other people like me better, I liked myself better. I think outside of a trained psychologist, the best analysis would probably come from someone who at least walked a quarter mile in the same shoes. This lady gained credentials under a different identity. She loves the power and 'likes' the person she assumes when she wakes up in the morning. In my military days, putting on the stripes in the morning brings an alternate sense of superiority to all 'underlings' so to speak. I wasn't a jerk with the stripes, but I do remember how it felt compared to 'no' stripes. It's the same with this chick. Her alter-ego has a lot of status, clout, degrees, and parking spaces as to where 'white' Rachel has nothing. If she actually stopped to 'be' white Rachel for a month, she would realize, once again, that 80% of the very people she defends would treat her much differently, value her less, and never accept her as an equal. So it's no wonder she likes her false identity much better. Her real self hasn't accepted the fact that most would view her as the enemy and the one 'holding them down' from the get-go, whether she deserves it or not. I guess she'll learn it the hard way now. You better learn to love yourself Rachel dear. People who depend on a lucrative hustle don't like for people to crowd in on their gain. You will never fit the mold and you will never merit waving that flag.

  • @patsybob
    @patsybob 9 років тому +4

    This looks like a half-title of a thesis, like the interviewer forgot to formulate the second part of what she was actually investigating, as in "What is normal as it relates to black women? Discussing the issue of "X". A vague title is generally not a good thing when writing a thesis, in fact it should send alarm bells ringing that there would be too many topics to cover both at an interview stage and actually writing up the thesis itself.
    Also why does she narrow her thesis aim to only woman? It would have been interesting to compare differences and similarities between gender (and how it intersects with race), in fact a narrower thesis title could have easily facilitated a discussion about the differing identity or social expectations or effects of stereotypes (perhaps even the combination of all three) on African/Black men and women in society.

    I am extremely disturbed by the amount of BP who are too happy that she's imitating a BW and thrived on light-skinned privilege. This isn't flattering. She's a sick, arrogant, deviant sociopath. She could have done some work as a WW. BM are saying that they wish more BW were like her when BW are doing the most out here - protests, supporting families and trying to love and except ourselves in the face of adversity even from our own pp. They're giving a sick sociopath more credit than ppl/real BP doing real work? She faked treats. Any wonder how she got so far for so many years? THAT'S why I'm sick to my stomach.

    I'm a biracial woman. I do not see how she could be mistaken for black. Biracial maybe but not black. She keeps talking about hair and nails and her appearance as a "black woman". Wtf? Is this fashion television? Seems like she's only able to talk about looking good or the way you look. She may have some knowledge of black culture etc.. i mean the Internet is a great place to find ways to do your hair, research the struggle of black people by real black people's stories. She was also married to a black man for a time and watching his fam and dealing with black children she had a front row seat. But she will never ever know how it truly feels to be ridiculed.Never know how it feels to be called a beautiful black woman .She will never know the good and bad. She might hear it. But there will always be a little voice saying " bitch your as white as the driven snow!" "Your a fraud a fake, you can't ever really feel what it's like".

    What I learned from this interview: It't not really possible to give an explanation on what normal is for a black woman if you have never experienced being a black woman. She would be honest if she just spoke about her experience of what is normal to be the mother of a black child. The unfortunate thing besides my 15 minutes just being wasted on my curiosity.. is that there is a black woman who was not interviewed because she took the interview.. and none of us heard (and many don't care) about that lady's actual experiences.

    My question is, did nobody from school or her childhood ever call her out? And if they did, how long before they said anything? And why did her parents let her go so long before calling her out? She really didn't think she'd get caught being in the public eye?

    As a black woman, im flattered and offended all at the same time. Flattered because my people are the best. Everyone wants to steal black culture without being black but this woman actually tried to embody a black woman. Im offended because she will never know my struggle. To be honest, alot of mixed/light skinned people won't ever know the "black" struggle. So for this WHITE woman to "identify" with being BLACK, isn't the issue, everyone steals from the black culture. The problem is, she tired to steal a struggle which is absolutely psychotic.

      YaniBrooks Not everyone wants to steal black culture, when it's on tv, on the radio, in the clubs, next to white artists, then it is something one grows up with.

    I am interested in hearing Ms Campbell's thoughts, if she is willing to verbalize them. Interviewing someone and then finding out they are lying has to hurt on some level.

    "Acting"... "experience acting as a "black woman". Credibility is lost when you lie and none of your family have your back. Hope she gets her back on track but gotta come clean first.

    The NAACP has no requirements for the race of their faculty, she could have been a leader black or not....I am confused as to why she went to this extent! I am also confused as to why it took so long to come out? Did her family (husband and children) know who she was? What did her parents and siblings think she was doing with her life this whole time?

  • @adrianlindsaylohan

    She's talking so vaguely because the question is so vague. It should not have taken that long to figure out what to ask. What kind of interviewer just springs that on people? You always warm up the interviewee.

    This statement makes me realize that this woman will never understand what it is like to be a minority or a female minority: "whether you use your EBT card or not..." I am no Black/African-American, but I am a Mexican-American woman and to make a blanket statement such as this is racist, overly broad, and insensitive. How can Rachel state that she identifies herself as a "black woman" or even a "black" individual in American when she makes these racist comments?!

    Keeping it real and being honest is the easiest thing in the world to do , it's easier than cleaning your own ass and it doesn't require a 15 minute dialogue to be stated or conveyed.

    Technically, she told the truth, because the origin of all humans began on the continent of Africa. She should have just stuck to that fact.
    Black people (women specifically) seemed far more fascinated with her, accepting of her, and eager to be seen in photos with her when they thought she was a "black" woman that looked white. GO FIGURE!
    WHAT'S MORE? I find it strange that people are more accepting and supportive of a man who says he identifies as a woman, dresses up as a woman, wears women's make-up, unfairly competes in women's sports, and wants to use the women's public restroom, but people are outraged by a white woman who identifies as a black woman and looks a hell of a lot better as a white woman with tan skin and braided hair than both your average white and black woman.
