I think special summoning a monster directly from the deck is one of the strongest effects in the game, and this card does it with only a few drawbacks. - Ігри

such a wasted card considering how good of an effect it has. I thought that Insect Barrier may see more play if insects got more powerful monsters at the time.
Reptiles have Snake Rain which limits design space even more.
What do you guys mean by limiting design space

Reptile monsters usually have no Graveyard effect. For the cost of 2 cards, Snake Rain lets you get 4 effects. And if the card you discard has a GY effect too, you get another one.
Foolish Burial is limited for a reason. Snake Rain has no hard once per turn clause like Dragon Shrine and other modern cards that fill the GY.
@@williamw.2610 It means that as long as Snake Rain exists as it currently does, any future Reptiles that Konami makes have to be designed with Snake Rain in mind. Since Snake Rain has the potential to become incredibly abusable. Foolish Burial is Limited and it only sends one monster to the GY. Snake Rain sends 4 Reptiles.

@@LuigisLegend I don't think it's fair to say Konami ignores it. We can't say for sure because we only see the cards they release, not the ones they decide not to. Plus, I'm pretty sure Verte is being used exactly how Konami intended to.

Does this card (in mtg terms) act like an artifact like blood pod where its repeatable or is it a one time sorcery like neoform?
@@idksomething8484 if a yugioh card has an infinity symbol it acts like an artifact / enchantment that lingers on the field. Otherwise it acts as a sorcery

@@tiszach I imagine the same way a lot of cards teched into Lair decks: use the effect of Lair to once per turn tribute an opponent's monster instead of one of your own.
So you activate this card, tribute an opponent's monster, and special summon a monster from your deck.
It saw tons of play in inzektors... ladybug turns into dragonfly
The problem is that it can ONLY summon from the deck. Draw that 1 insect tech card and you have not 1 but 2 dead cards in the hand and deck.
Used to run this as an extender/consistency enabler in inzektor. Turn a lady bug into a dragonfly, take a negated dragonfly and go into hopper so you can still use hornet. Not an insane card but fun and has some potential depending on what lines are avaliable to an insect deck.
Play this card in lair of darkness deck, tribute opponent monster and summon scary moth or metamorphose insect queen for meme

Ah, so close to Birthing Pod. I was playing this in my Progression Series playgroup when I was on Inzektors. Almost every time it activated was full combo for Inzektors

How I've never seen a deck focused on turboing out Earthbound Immortal Uru with this and trying to OTK the opponent is beyond me. I see worse ideas all the time, especially now that youtubers are chasing Master Duel clout.
I guess this could be a neat tech card in True Kings, since they can play Level 9s and have Diagram
Funny enough i plan on using exactly this in the n r festival in master duel. It is not an otk but still a tech to bring him out easier.
@@Tuetenbratwurst I think these new wacky decks are good for the game even if it is just chasing views. The meta decks are pretty stale at this point with known formulas for success. These weird new decks haven't been fully optimized and leave room for exploration.
I usually netdeck a new archetype at first, but then I try to optimize it based on my experiences with it. These new silly decks are great for that.
Casual reminder that Earthbound Immortals need a field card to stay on the field so keep that in mind.
Ah, Earthbound Immortals, the archetype that requires so much set-up only to die to an MST.
Phantom Knights featuring Cockroach Knight?
A lot of people forget that this is a 20-year-old card. Made back when players actually tribute summoned blue-eyes with two monsters. Had a fun insect deck that used this along with howling insect, pinch hopper, multiplication of ants and the Ultimate Insect cards along with Anteatereatingant and doom dozer.
Raigeki and monster reborn is also 20 years old and they are so good it's played very often ever since their release. Meanwhile this card has potential but just like snake rain and rekindling, Konami does not attempt to make good target so future card design are very limited around this.

It’s ok, if it gets negated, esp by something like Ash it’s a -2 if the tribute doesn’t float
I play this in my Insect deck typically to cheat out Ultimate Insect LV5 along with insect neglect to help keep it on the field so it evolves.
I could imagine cheesing out a really high level monster like a Gimmick Puppet or Night Express Knight and then use this to get an even more high level insect monster that doesn't have many repercussions. I don't know enough insect monsters to use for this however, and they're probably going to be lower than level 10.
you should do the card Transmission gear
ALSO it says 'it had on the field'
Meaning you could have a monster with a temporary level(like that one level 4 galaxy card that boosts its level up to 8 for a xyz summon) and go into a high-powered insect. Unsure of good targets tho
The good targets depend on what you'd want to bring out

This is basically the snake rain conundrum all over again. It makes a whole monster type underpowered because they really had consider how new reptiles support interact with the GY, and in turn limit their design around snake rain.

So you go -1 in card advantage from this, and I don't think insects justify that or have a good way to recover from it
Special summoning from the deck is incredibly broken, so I see potential with this. But on the other hand, some archetypes can just do this with their own monster effects, and they don't even need a spell card.
I doubt Konami is thinking that hard about this card, if design space is being limited. They make poorly balanced cards all the time and don't seem to take it all that seriously

@@findout2655 you want to use it as early in your combo as possible though or you're going -1 which is way less consistency than the deck slimming you get by running 3 draw 1 cards
This means you need to summon your very first monster in defense to get use out of it. And if you can't then the card bricks you
I have a couple cards I think someone should take a look at. I play a deck called gimmick puppets and noticed some interesting things about a couple of their cards Condolence puppet and perform puppet. They do have some limitation of requiring to use gimmick puppets but since when did that stop a deck. Between gamma, terrortop, and garnet, cards have been used many times outside of their archetype running bricks in the process. But the thing with both cards, is it doesn't lock anyone from anything and rather use the puppets as a small engine. And have a second effect that doesn't need to be a puppet to even work.
It's mandatory it Battlewasps. You also run resonance insect.
I had a really funny inzektor match where I was losing. I normal summoned Maxx c to turn it into dragonfly to make a comeback.
I use this card for a wonderful insect priority deck

I think gravediggers trap hole is a great card in the current Hand trap and gy effect meta and i have no idea why its not used in decks
In my Beetrooper deck I use to sacrifice a level 1 to summon silence Insect, its good if I play vs Endlich

This is a damn good cube card.
The very first text of this card allowed the monster to be special summoned face down defense position, so you could special set flip effect insect monsters like Man Eater Bug or Needle Worm, too bad they changed that, in my view it limited a lot the potential of this card
I think it's overlooked cuz it's a -1. But, that doesn't make it bad 😏
I was reading some bulk cards and memory crush king could become a cool tech card if synchro spam came back it can deal 17k damage from one card
You HAVE TO read small world. It's one of the weirdest tutors of any game ever, allowing you to jump from any card A to card C provided you have a bridge card B in your deck

I use to run this card as a 1 one of in my beetrooper deck. It's alright but not really worth running over other better insect cards.
Cards pretty cool, sadly tributing is a cost and eating that ash is pretty shit. Neg 2 in the worst case so ya there is a reason that even transmodify isnt played

I mean I guess it's just better Transmodify for Insects. If you would run transmodify for insects then you run this instead.
The interesting thing with it is that you don't need to tribute an insect for it to work, just to summon one. so you could put this in non-insect decks with some specific interaction in mind

Super limited, clunky to use and a neg. 1. Maybe one day if there ever is a truly broken insect main deck monster
Do you actually consider any cards your opponent might play? Sure In a *vacuum* it can be good, but if it EVER gets ashed your just dead. Tributing is also cost, so you always have to do it. Card is garbo.
