- My brand new straight razor and concave lapping plate arrived today and as luck would have it, I needed a shave very badly. The link to the razor and lapping plate are listed below. This was one of the most comfortable straight razor shaves I've ever had and I've never had a razor glide across my skin that easily before.

Hi Stephen- Great straight razor shave; thank you! This definitely seemed like a nice, smooth shave. Have a great weekend and and best regards, as always.
@mikeh9701 thanks Mike.
Hi Stephen. Glad you enjoyed the shave.
@@borbelyhaz321 thank you.
Always nice to have a satisfying shave🪒🪒🪒Cheers Stephen🍻🍻🍻
@HopperRox_Shaves thanks Gary and cheers my friend.
Congrats on the new gear acquisitions. Some of my faves.
Best wishes to you with this stuff.
@billm.2677 thanks so much. I'm already looking forward to honing my next razor. Lapping is definitely going to be interesting. I've got 3 level 5 jnats here.

I would recommend against putting a curve on a JNat. I shaped one side of an ILR and found an inclusion beneath the surface I did not like. Nothing wrong with experimenting with your JNat naguras on another curved base stone though.
If you do your 20k, you will certainly invest some time.
Not too long ago I got a Naniwa Aotoishi to shape up. I did each side in the different orientation to the plate. It was easy to shape with dry sandpaper and has a soft forgiving feel in use. I think abrasive grit is around 2k which is fine for initial work. The downside is it does require more maintenance because it is soft.
I started with a series of Naniwa Super Stones and have done many other since, but due to the cost of a JNat, and that you just never know what is underneath, I would never shape one.
I thought I saw you with some of the magnetic bench mount stropping gear from CKTG. I can recommend that you get a piece or 2 of the balsa and shape in the long direction finishing with 320 or 400 grit sandpaper. Then try ‘light’ coating them with a mild abrasive, I think you had cBN which I like, but I use CrOX, and FeOx too.
Have fun!
Great new razor buddy, that is a great sharp razor. I’m sure it will serve you well for many years. Hope you have a great weekend

Thanks Paul. Yes I've been told that these razorslast a long time.
I find that long strokes usually don't take as much whiskers off but that concave bevel was destroying those whiskers off your face!
The against the grain pass was no problem buttery smooth, i'm glad you're enjoying it my friend! Looking goooooooood.
Thanks Sean. Yes this razor was nothing short of phenomenal and as you saw, the glide was every bit 10 times better. The scary part is that the mid range was done on a Les Lat Coticule and then finished on a surgical black arkansas stone. I can't wait to see what a concave Suehiro 20K and or a concave jnat bevel is like.💈💈💈🍻🍻🍻
Great shave Stephen. I have the same razor, also honed my Jarrod. It’s definitely one of my favorites. Again, great content and good luck in your super curve journey. I have enjoyed it thus far.
@@BigEShaves thanks so much. I'm already loving the concave bevel.
@@knightmare1015 it will be crazy keen and comfortable! I think you will enjoy your own honing even more
