Not a kayaker but I stumbled across this video just out of curiosity the man’s kayak appeared to be a lot smaller than the lady with the green kayak. Is it easier to roll in a smaller kayak than it is a large one?
Yes, lower volume boats can be easier to roll. Apples to apples, though, her boat has less volume than his. His is longer by a foot, and has many more gallons of air in it.
First roll right hand way way to high. No real sweep just a push almost straight down. Paddle dived way under. In real waves this roll would fail. To say Nice is NOT helping him. Say hey good you made it up BUT do this differently. On the slow mo one the sweep and paddle position much better BUT at then end his head still doesn't stay down long enough. He SITS UP he should slide onto back deck with head. He sits up with kayak still way leaned over still . So I strongly disagree with what you say. The blade should sweep forward after he is up not just held out at side. Big water demands perfection in what your doing. You said he is experienced roller. Doesn't look so to me. I see people come up in a pool every time with poor technique yet fail in real water waves.
Yeah he’s quite experienced. When I say “nice” I’m actually commenting on getting him on video. 😅 He’s not a Greenland roller, so that’s not his stick, and that’s not his boat either. But I’ll make sure he sees your comments. Feedback is always useful, every time.
