- Travel back in time with some classic nineties nostalgia: it's the opening titles of Dream On!
From Dream On: Martin Tupper (Brian Benben) is a book editor in Manhattan, recently divorced from Judith, a psychologist. Martin's life is filled with fantasies and sexual thoughts, many times coming in the form of black-and-white shots from old TV shows and movies. Charlton Heston, Bette Davis and Joan Crawford were a few who showed their faces in Martin's fantasies. Saucy secretary Toby constantly puts him down while his pal, Eddie, gives him poor advice on women. Trying to raise a child while dealing with the '90s dating scene make this a racy comedy. Starring Wendie Malick.

This was most underrated sitcoms of the 1990s . The lead character Martin is like combination of Ross from friends and Larry from curb your enthusiasm .
The same creators of this show went on to do Friends
I absolutely loved this show, wish HBO made this accessible to watch 🤷♀️

Yeah I don't know why it's not available via some streaming app.
Could not agree more! Great characters & creative writing!
That's a relief😂.....Now I know I wasn't the only one who was raised like this.
I totally love that theme! Takes me back to the 90s.
I grew up with this show and it was indeed a popular one in the early but 90's.
In 1999 when I was 22 I worked at a sporting goods store and would whistle this theme song and it would piss my co worker off big time he was probably 70 yrs old lol
Very UNDERRATED Sitcom!!! I LOVED THIS SHOW ON SUNDAY nights ON HBO!!!!MEMORIES!!!
What a GREAT theme by Michael Skloff. This made the show for me. Thanks for posting this.
I love this. It’s the correct intro unlike the last video that was posted where Aerosmith’s Dream On played instead.
Before Sex and The City... There was Dream On
Sex and the City aint got nothing on Dream On
Made me tear up.
I miss my childhood ❤😢
Why did you have to add the crunching sounds before the theme was over?!
HBO still shows their logo with static before shows as a nod to this opening.
that was interesting to know... thanks!
I remember this show. I don’t remember sitting through a full episode, but I loved the intro. I also remember that Dream On aired on HBO and it came on right before Tales From The Crypt.
I watched it with my Mom and Stepdad once back in '91. I had to "Turn my Head" several times.
One time, I watched it with my Chum in the Living Room. It was the first time I saw full frontal nudity. We both realized it borderlined on porn.
This gave me nostalgic goosebumps
Thank you for uploading this.
I used to watch this with my grandma lol!💕
I love the fact that the 3 little boys in the opening credits all bear a strong resemblance to the grown up Martin.
Super killer theme song!
I used to love this show
I was like 7 years old. Why was I watching this at that age? And why sis my parents let me ???
You had no business watching such a classy mature ADULT show as a child. The nudity was CLASSY and always portrayed in a context of mature, consensual safe sex brought to you by Trojan.
Same here! Same question I had I was about nine years old at the time. Baby boomer parents were a little bit different than they are today I think? I watched too much crap I should have never watched before reaching double-digit age.
I loved this show as a kid. Wish it was available somewhere to watch now
@metop33 we were literally the kid in the credits. Nobody cared what we were watching. As long as we were sitting in front of the TV we weren't somewhere getting into trouble.
@@SixActStructure There's episodes on Dailymotion.
When I was real little this used to scare me. I have no idea why Lol
Loved all the soft core porn parts to wack off to in the 90s record on my vhs 😆
I didn't realize David Crane was one of the producers.
He was also a producer for Friends.
And Michael Skloff wrote both theme tunes.
I used to laugh loads with this sitcom
0:45 You are now entering Sax City
I remember watching this when I was 11, but it was on basic network tv not HBO or Comedy Central. Anyway me and my siblings would watch this and our parents would be reading the newspaper or asleep. I vividly remember the sex scene with Mimi rogers as that shit was very borderline for network tv. They could get away with showing a butt cheek or bare breast every now and then😂. I also believe that this is where Seth McFarlane gets his “flashback” scenes in family guy.
EVERYTIME this show was on, My Mom and Stepfather would go at it.
I used to watch this, I think it had funny flashbacks
This is a show for ADULTS. Real adults who deal with the real world. Not children living on some nonsense fantasy planet. Just plain, simple ADULTS trying to make it in their marketing careers while dealing with their bosses and climbing that ladder. MATURE ADULTS playing the dating game, practicing SAFE sex, and unwinding in the evenings by putting classy, mature ADULT music on the HiFi. Proper music like Michael Bolton and Kenny G. THIS SHOW IS FOR ADULTS.
Brian Benben married Madelaine Stowe and hasn't been seen or heard from since.
To be fair, she's one hell of a reason to disappear
why wont HBO have this on MAX with all the other old series ?
This is my life now n I’m 48
I watched this show in the UK in the 1990s and I was shocked when I saw that in some episodes there was nudity.
It was an HBO show. HBO is an American cable subscription channel not subject to American terrestrial TV network censorship regulations. The various ITV regions showed 'Dream on" late at night during the early 90s for a time. It always seemed more suited to Channel 4 but itv ended up with it for whatever reason.
Pre- Cable Guy
If I ever wrote a sitcom about my life, it would probably just be a pale imitation of "Dream On."
A show you've never seen starring a bunch of people you've never heard of.
David Bowie was on it lol. this was actually pretty big in the 90s and without this show being a hit, Friends never gets made tbh
Wendie Mallack..... she's been in a lot of films
This is the show that began HBO's transformation from being purely a distributor to being a creator. It may be little remembered today but it's an important footnote in TV history.
She and the whole cast were so good in Just Shoot Me!.
Speak for yourself.
