Because they’re largely fetishised I sort of got this from Reddit so it may not necessarily be true. I’m large chested too and I can’t even wear a skinny stripped top without glares. It’s the same with people with bigger butts. Smaller chests simply aren’t viewed as something sexual to put it realistically and simply hence why models don’t have them as they’re deemed distracting and take away from the fashion. Applying that kind of perspective to school, well wearing the clothes we see in the video with a larger chest it draws a lot of attention in a “sexy” “seductive” sense even many of those who don’t have a large chest I see typically saying they want to be deemed more sexually attractive through having bigger boobs which pretty much proves my point because it’s a fetish even if teenage boys may not gaf. It is what it is ig it won’t be changing any time soon. But this is just my perspective :).

    • @joshnatherainbow582
      @joshnatherainbow582 9 місяців тому +11

No they aren’t I will pull out my essay about how they are not good. Imagine this your running late to school because your uniforms are in the dryer so you can’t go to school if you show up to school without your uniforms you’ll get suspended but if you go to school late you’ll get a tardy so what should you do or imagine that you have your uniforms but there to uncomfortable or if they are to thin and it’s too cold outside these are some of the reasons. Schools shouldn’t make students wear uniforms. Brit ann ica says that “School uniforms restrict students' freedom of expression. School uniforms promote conformity over individuality. School uniforms do not stop bullying and may increase violent attacks.”
Many students don’t like uniforms and most of the time schools use uniforms as a way of making the students listen or obey the rules but a lot of times if a person doesn’t like something they will resist it this causes the school to add more rules which again the students most likely will not like it’s a cycle. Clothes are a very popular way to express yourself and if you wear the same thing it will make you feel like you have to do what everyone is doing and only that.
A lot of people think that uniforms make lower bullying because everyone has the same clothes on so the bullies will stop bullying at least about their clothes but what about when you go outside of the school like on Field trips? A lot of people get bullied by other schools or they don’t but sometimes they whisper and if you see that it can be very hurtful. And a lot of people stereotype people who wear uniforms thinking they're snobby rich kids.
Uniforms make it hard for poor families because they have to buy the uniforms only in some cases the schools provide uniforms but that’s very rare. Uniforms cost about $150 or less and you have to get multiple pairs because you can’t wear them over and over because they will smell and you can’t wash them every day because they’ll get ripped that leads us to our next problem you have to have multiple pairs of uniforms and your normal clothes like shirts, pants all of those clothes and then you have your uniforms and if you have a lot of clothes you will need to get a bigger closet and closets cost a lot of money.
Studies have shown that uniforms don’t make students feel they belong in their school as much as people think, Studyfinds says, “…kids wearing a uniform actually reported feeling lower levels of school belonging than students who attended schools with no uniform requirements.” Schools shouldn’t make students wear uniforms because they are too expensive, they take up too much closet space, and many other reasons. Schools shouldn’t make students wear uniforms because they create more problems than they solve.

Would you wear white gown to a wedding?
A T-shirt and jeans to prom or graduation?
A bikini to work on a 105 F day? (If you don’t work at the beach)
There’s a difference between party clothes, casual, and professional attire.
If you don’t have the creativity to come up with cute appropriate attire within the realm of what’s allowed, that’s a you problem, not a problem with the system.

And it wouldn't actually do anything to stop abuse; if anything, it makes it easier, by teaching kids to hide their bodies, to be ashamed, and feeding the insecurities which predators exploit to abuse their victims.
By contrast, proper sex ed - starting before kids even hit puberty - actually prevents abuse, by informing the students to recognise the signs of grooming, why it is bad, and encouraging them to speak out.

So whether you’re imparting feeling of disgust or lust on others, the socially accepted consensus is to cover up. Most people are just trying to get through the day without being distracted by either and your dress choices should not affect hundreds of people’s days.

Victim shaming at its finest...I don't care what people wear, no one is "asking for it." I was wearing the baggiest clothes ever when I was assaulted the first time. I literally was dressing like Billie Eilish in shirts and pants. And I wore a hoodie every single day to school. No matter how hot it got, almost actually passing out as a result of it a few times.
There are literally videos on UA-cam and museum displays of what people were wearing when they were assaulted and some of the outfits cover them head-to-toe. In one of the most recent ones I saw one of the outfits was a literal head-to-toe ski suit!
Saying you're a girl so you can say that is disgusting...I don't care how much skin you are or aren't showing. That doesn't give anyone consent for anything. No one is asking for it no matter the circumstance!!

@casiylyn2cute Saying someone is asking for it because of how they dress is victim shaming. No matter how you try to spin it in your favor. Claiming that isn't what you are talking about. When you said, “wearing lingerie means you're asking for it.” What did you mean by asking for it then?
Even if you're at a nude beach and completely naked, you aren't asking for anything to happen to you. In no circumstance are people asking to be targeted because of how their bodies look.
Some people skip school altogether so would you rather they skipped it completely. Or actually showed up to it wearing something they feel confident in. Obviously, schools can put limitations but she's covered. And the point of these is literally to purposefully push school dress codes which nothing pushes it far like lingerie. Which didn't even get her dress-coded anyway because it could easily pass as a normal top.
A lot of lingerie looks the same as someone wearing a bathing suit, the only difference a lot of time is lingerie usually has lace. Yet bathing suits can be worn in public. The last time I went to an adult shop a lot of the items they had literally looked like normal clothes. They were just in the shop because a brand that usually makes lingerie made it. I actually got several really cute tops from the same shop that my friends were getting other items from.
The point of my comment is that whether people are wearing very little clothes or a ton of clothes, it will happen regardless. Woman's clothes will usually be deemed distracting and inappropriate even though what should happen is teaching people that no matter what people wear, clothing shouldn't make them a target. Rules should be less strict and lenient for different weather circumstances. Instead, of telling girls I'd rather have you pass out in a turtle neck and jacket because others may be distracted that you biologically have a chest. That men are allowed to show freely but heaven forbid you have extra fat in that area, then it has to be covered in all circumstances.
Telling people they need to "grow up" is a clear sign that you are immature. It's the childish equivalent of using the comeback, "I know you are but what am I?"
If you read a lot of the comments from people saying their school actually doesn't have a dress-code. They literally are saying their school has had no issues that they've witnessed. Maybe if we realized that they are children growing up and they need to learn somehow they can learn what is appropriate themselves. Teach them respect, boundaries, consent, and what they will be expected to wear once they enter the work force. Then they can “get it out of their system.” Wearing clothing that might seem inappropriate while they are still in a school setting.

That is so depressing.... You're in the biggest stage of your life where you develop your personal style and find out which person you want to be, and you're restricted by a misogynistic system that has only been put in place so creepy old male teachers don't get distracted by teenage girls. You're forced to spend 90% of your days stripped from your personality, to be nothing more but a number. Usually people that are forced to wear uniforms as a teenager tend to dress inappropriately for work later, since they have no sense for style and when which style is appropriate. If you're just developing your personal style by the age of 20, by the time you're starting a job you won't know what style is appropriate for the work place and what is appropriate for private matters. And the saddest part is you're thinking the school is doing you a favour :( I pity you, poor innocent soul, and I hope you'll be able to find your way later in life ❤️ chin up little soldier

@@Mina-rf3nw I’m pretty sure most of that isn’t true. Uniforms were created to bring equality in schools. Just because we wear uniforms at school, does not mean we are “restricted” or have “no sense of style”. We actually have a lot of time out of uniform, where we can wear our own clothes. Uniforms aren’t some depressing, sad idea that was intended to hurt, it was actually so everyone felt equal and happier at school. As much as my uniform can be annoying, i would much prefer it any day over being picked on over my outfit choice. Schools honestly are doing us a favour.

I freaking feel that, I have bigger assets as well so normal things don't cover me as much and appear shorter. I have a big chest and a big butt so everything instantly becomes higher on me. I wore a dress to work one day and I already tested it, it does reach fingertip length but I wore an extra long cardigan over it so absolutely nothing would show. Unfortunately, the longer I wear the dress the more it shifts around. So sometimes I have to readjust and pull it up to cover the girls more, and other times I pull it down to make sure it's long enough.
And of course, I was called in to talk about my outfit. I explained my issues and they let it slide because my cardigan was long enough to ensure no issues would happen. I basically just held it closed as much as possible for the rest of the shift because getting talked to made me feel even more self-conscious than I already usually am.
Most things come in 1 length and 1 size which is created on a tiny mannequin so most ladies clothes doesn't work well on women with more curves. It took me most of my life covering myself on purpose. Finally wearing dresses was a huge milestone for me and my mental health. And it's just frustrating to say the least.

It's not about self expression, it's about professionalism. You go to school so you can learn the skills needed to succeed in your future career and be a functioning member of society. Outside of work and school, you have the entire rest of your life to express yourself however you want, but school is for learning and the idea that it's unreasonable for them to restrict you from wearing unprofessional clothing, when the entire point of school is to prepare you for a profession, is frankly stupid.

If you said they tend to start working, you'd be right, since that's what school prepares you to do. You are right that schools can teach you about self expression, but you need to consider that they primarily teach you about when and where is the right place to express yourself. In a semi-professional environment where your performance depends on how you present yourself, like in schools, it is important for students to understand that self expression in the wrong place will be harmful to their progression through life. You can express yourself as much as you want, but you need to understand that if you choose to do that in environments like schools or workplaces you might have to deal with the issues that that can cause.

Its not because its distracting to the teacher and the teacher is rendered incapable of doing her job if they hear a childs voice. Its to teach them the appropriate way to behave. If someone is talking, dont just start a new conversation with your neighbor. If youre going to a place to learn something, dont show up in lingerie. Thats not an accurate comparison at all. Clothes are optional and mostly a form of self-expression. Talking is a action that can take many forms that can and cant be acceptable.
A more accurate comparison would be if backpacks were coded and you could only have certain amount of keychains, accessories or even brands on the backpacks because its “too distracting”. Or if a certain brand of nail polish wasnt allowed because it was “too flashy” or “distracted the boys too much”. See how stupid this argument takes. Imagine taking this argument and reframing it around other issues. “Some work places only allow a certain brand of backpack”, “Schools are a place for learning which is why the backpack regulation is important”, “Wearing too small(or too little) of a backpack is not professional”.
Albeit to play devil’s advocate there is a clear difference between clothes that are put on historically sexualized bodies and backpacks which have a much more neutral treatment, no one bothers to think that dress codes are inherently sexist, statistically targets poc and minorities, and the reasoning for said policy has shaky ground at best and pedophilic vibes at worst

I’m a 25 year old woman who used to think in a similar way to you when I was younger. When I turned 12 all I cared about was boys liking me and being attractive to them (as that’s what happens to most girls at that age). So I really wanted to dress sexually/hot to appeal to boys. I came up with all of these “feminist” excuses as to why there shouldn’t be a dress code at my school like “why are these adults sexualizing my shoulders or legs”. When in reality I just wanted to sexualize myself. I am not trying to be mean but your outfits are very sexual and inappropriate. The older that I get the more of a “prude” I become. I don’t want random men to be able to get any pleasure from my body. As soon as I found my now husband, I stopped dressing in a revealing way, subconsciously. I think it’s just bc I had no need to “attract” a man anymore bc I found mine. Dressing more modestly makes me feel so much more comfortable, feminine, beautiful and safe. Anyways, I used to be 100% against dress codes, uniforms and makeup bans at school, but now I’m all for them if I ever had kids. In high school I would literally spend 2 hours every morning on my hair and makeup. When I really should’ve been doing the homework that I had neglected the day before. Rules, responsibilities and duties are a good thing. And we have them for a reason. Maturation is learning to respect the rules, boundaries and traditions that came before you ☺️

Inherently I disagree. As stated some of her outfits were purposely extreme just as a challenge but most looked cool and it’s mostly what people in university wear. Not to the same extreme but I enjoy loud extra fashion and makeup. A lot of what I wear is seen as “revealing” or sexy due to my body shape. I have no desire to seek the attention of others and I find most sexual things very uncomfortable. Having an extreme style preference doesn’t have to be for other people like it was for you. If you enjoy a more modest appearance that’s great. But I think having dress codes, makeup bans etc are unnecessary. All the attributes associated with teenagers don’t go away just cause there’s a rule or a ban. Teenagers will still be obsessed with there appearance, find each other sexually attractive, be irresponsible, and unprofessional. A dress code can’t change the fundamentals of how many people in there teen years act. Rules, boundaries and traditions can be a useful thing or be incredibly pointless or even harmful. All of those things are not sacred and can be changed. Personally I think the insistence of schools today about having a dress code is still rooted in the Purity Christian beliefs that the older generations still hold but who knows.

Dressing more modestly didn't make me feel safer when I was assaulted, regardless. I literally dressed like Billie Eilish and wore a hoodie every single day to school, no matter how hot it got. I almost passed out because I was making myself overheat, trying to cover myself up. The issue isn't the clothes itself, dress codes are mostly for controlling how the girls dress.
At the schools I went to the guys could wear whatever they wanted, their only rule was no hats in school. While the girls have a long laundry list of specifications or what to wear and not wear. And as I said what we wear doesn't stop predators and creeps from preying on us. The whole point is that we need slightly less strict restrictions, especially when there are external conditions such as weather.
In a different video, similar to this one, a girl in the comments said she was dress-coded for wearing a tank top but she wore it because the heat was over 100 degrees. Because heaven forbid she has her shoulders showing when she could literally pass out from heat exhaustion being forced to cover up more.
Dress codes need to be more lenient and equivalent for all students, not just girls. And people need to be taught about consent and appropriate behavior way more than they are. Just banning things outright shouldn't be the go-to solution to solving everything.
Instead, they should be educated on the consequences their decisions will cause. Educate them on what is appropriate to do and not do in varying relationships, go over a variety of scenarios based on what others are wearing, how they are acting, situational awareness, etc. Sometimes laying out options for them and letting them understand consequences is the best way to let them learn. Hold mock interviews where they dress in what they would wear to one. And constructively critique and encourage appropriate attire. Have themed days of what to wear on a vacation, a work trip, a college lecture, a grocery shopping trip, etc. There are ways to teach them how to dress that can be fun instead of strictly forcing them to conform to wearing specific things.
The emphasis should be on educating that clothes don't determine consent, the person does.
When kids are younger they are experimenting and learning about themselves, their style preferences, how to be appropriate, etc. Children learn best from experience sometimes.
