    My MODX sounds great with ear phones but once you take it to a live setting they do not have enough OUT PUT power for the sounds. There is a reason why they are cheaper than a Montage , for live setting one must be ready to spend for the Montage or Roland high ends. I wish I had know it I could have purchase a Montage instead.

    It would be great if this was exported in stereo, instead of mono…😉

    I was looking at both the Montage8 and the modx to upgrade from the S90XS, but the first thing that comes to mind is: Why are Yamaha synths so large? I thought the S90XS was large, but the montage 8 tops it again. It would be difficult to fit it in the average car, and it weights close to 30kg! .. 7kg heavier than the S90XS. If Yamaha only intended these keyboards to be in permanent installs such as churches or studios then IMHO they have severely limited their full sales potential. The modx is not suitable for me as it relies too much on the touch screen for live performance. As an older keyboard player trying to use glasses to rapidly focus on the screen is way too much. Too many buttons removed on the modx. The problem is, I can't find anything out there that comes close to the features of the Yamaha montage or modx.

      Of course the MODX 8 is large, it has the full complement of 88 keys! If you want something more portable look at the MODX 7 and 6.

      But the MODX is made to where you can set up your own patches for Live Performances and literally just flow from one song to another
      Our church just picked one up this past Friday, and HoLY Goodness, what an upgrade!

    They haven’t upgraded or increased dampening on the keybeds for the 6 and 7 which from a quality stand point are still “broken” …the keys are loud and cheap toy feeling..how can Casio make a cheap but silent keybed but Yamaha can’t or won’t?..c’mon..keybed felt isn’t that expensive!😡

    I have a Geno's how does the montage and Geno's compare

    • @Aison0
      @Aison0 Рік тому

      I have both here. But they are hardly comparable. But if we focus on some sets of voices, like Brass, Strings, Guitars, Woodwind and Guitars, I think the Genos sounds more natural, I guess because of all these super articulation stuff. On the other hand, the Genos is not nearly as flexible as the Montage in modifying the sounds (it's not a synth).

      Maybe some sounds are old, but it doesn’t sound cheap at all. I have a Modx8 and play it next to my Nord Stage and it can easily compete with it.

      @@1970piano This is not the point at all, a manufacturer who made unique things in the 80s and 90s, and today knows nothing but marketing, does not deserve any respect.

      @@js-sound As I've said on other threads, the MODX series are for gigging musicians who are playing weddings, corporate events and in bars. This is a budget synth and those expecting an evolutionary jump in synthesis are going to be disappointed. This isn't that, and was never going to be that for this price range. This is a lightweight synth for the gigging musician - no more, no less, and those musician's are mostly playing covers from the 70's, 80's and 90's in their sets, so this is a great board for it. If you want synth power, you're better off with a plugin these days. I see people whine on every synth that Roland, Yamaha and Korg put out. They want it to do everything, but want it to be cheap. If you waiting for that, you're never gonna be happy. Get an Omnisphere license and a decent controller and be happy.

      @@terrygray7465 Then the Yamaha PSR model is more suitable for these people. Or am I wrong? :-) They are much cheaper and better suited for covers.

      How does the polyphony hold up? I see multiple reviews claiming of note cutoffs on the regular modx's. What's your personal opinion? Hoping to get one soon.

    Most of these upgrades are not needed for an average keyboard player.

    There is nothing worse than Yamaha synthesizers these days! The next will be another Modx Plus, but in white. I don't expect anything else from Yamaha. This synthesizer is another Yamaha duck.
