Nigeria tends to produce better lyrics ✒️🗒, and South Africa tends to be more creative with the sound 👂🏿🎶.
Both genres offer beautiful harmonies.
The log drum is one of the one of the best things to happen to modern Afro-Pop.
The beauty happens when when you merge the two to create Afro-Piano. When that log drum hits right at the beginning of "Unavailable" by Davido, it makes your body move. And the intricacies in the sequence by which it is played, creates an electric and contagious "vibe" which will make man, woman, child, dog, cat, pig horse move.
Great job by producer Magic Sticks

Bro u r biased n I will give u 3 biased points I noticed from ur comparison.
1) IG… when u did Nigeria vs Ghana, u did highest IG followers but when it came to S.A. U did recent followers of which u know Tyla is gaining followers rapidly as we speak. U think u slick abi 😂
2) Spotify… when u did Nigeria vs Ghana u did most monthly streams overall but when it comes to S.A. u did 3 months streams becus u know Tyla is recently getting mad streams. U r disingenuous bro..
3) Ur 10th category… U calculated all S.A data, grammys won n revenues to beat Nigeria but how come u didn’t do d same on d categories dat Tyla was d only one on Top n Nigerian artists r like 10 to 20 below? How can u pick 1 person to win a category when there r 20 Nigerian artists below her? I thut u r using data to determine ur outcome. If there r more Nigerians in a category d winner should be Nigeria not Tyla. Dis is Nigeria vs Tyla not Nigeria vs S.A.
😂😂😂😂😂
Exactly and I recently became a fan
But this shows he is biased
I understand represent your country but don't twist your data so you can have a chance
Give the crown to Nigeria that gave Africa global recognition and still standing strong, you cant use a current single trending song as a criteria let her be consistent first let her atleast release more songs like her current one for a year. We know Tyla is you guys hero, But you know the truth. South Africa is good but a tie is an insult😂
Facts! My man be capping
This is exactly what I said at the end that in my opinion Nigeria takes it by the volume of artists in the Top 25. Nigeria takes that comfortably
Lies
Nigeria has a large population and numbers is a given but you can't deny that South Africa with its small population is very resiliant, look at those Grammy nominations and awards.
Look at the revenues
@@normantshokotshela5290 Jamaica isn't up to 6 million but they made impact, the earlier you start accepting the fact that Nigerians got this, it will be better for you, because you people are still shocked how Nigerians did it, you never believed it before, but yet you are still capping, truth can't be hidden know this and know peace
You did a great job with the Ghana one but i disagree with this one. In my view there other elephant-in-the room categories you could have used. The fact that The western world created afrobeats categories for Billboard, VMAs, removed Reggae and Dancehall categories etc is a big deal that i think you didn't highlight. the fact that MC Ebro said studios are now looking for afrobeats artists over hiphop aritists are things we wouldn't have ever heard without this afrobeats wave.
Also regarding the Grammys - Seal (Batman sound track fame) is a nigerian and he has 4 Grammy wins
and many more nominations,
Percussionist Lekan Babalola has also won a grammy.
More Nigerian winners include:
Hakeem Seriki,
Babatunde Olatunji,
Kevin Olusola( 3 wins),
Cynthia Erivo ( 1 win),
Jenn Nkiru ( 1 win),
Chamillionnaire the rapper is also a Grammy winner and he's nigerian as well.
Niniola has even got a Grammy certificate for her ollaboration on Beyonce's Black is King, even Bankulli has grammy nomination{s).
Made Kuti and Femi Kuti also have grammy award nominations, same as Seun Kuti.
I got all this with barely 10minutes of googling.
Also why review last three months for streaming? why not the past 1year, to me this is more logical and more balanced. What about Arenas and international performances? That's another category you can use. You could even limit everything to within the past 1 year or so years.
What about international collaborations? Why is this not a factor?
Sold out tours or tours? (Naij for sure)
cultural impact?
you can even add rap music ( S.A can take this to secure some points )
Tbh i feel you chose these metrics to save SA which is fine and S.A has come a long way carrying the African continent for much of the 90s and early 2000s on the international scene along with other African countries like Ivory Coast and Angola, Nigeria's success on the global stage was almost non-existent then and has mostly been over the past 10years or so. (We're just building our own media machine which S.A has had on a choke-hold for years), not counting the 80s, 90s impact of Fela and co. Honestly bro, there's no need to minimize one country in order to make the other appear on par tbh.
Bro you really need to re-do this abeg!

As a content idea i think you need to discuss why S.A Amapiano is popular but the artists behind the music are not. A point to consider, Amapaino eclipses S.A hiphop now and yet Nasty C is probably more popular than all amapiano artists combined outside S.A. Nobody who's not from there knows them. How come??? This is a masive issue. Imagine if everybody knew the song 'essence' or 'calm down' but you never associated these songs with Wizkid, Tems and Rema. That's almost as bad as the music not traveling at all. In the year 2020, amapiano music literally took over nigerian clubs and yet S.A people chose not to expand on the popularity of this, at least to my knowledge. It was a bunch of guys from Mozambique that managed to get Burna Boy on a track - Yaba Buluku which became insanely popular.
When Mafikizolo was popping and they did Kona, it was a banger and their music was everywhere in Nigeria. Guess what? they capitalised on it and we were able to connect the music to a name, to a group of S.A faces and till this day I've not forgotten. Why? they did the follow-up ground work. They toured Nigeria, did collaborative tracks with Davido, May D.
This is a far cry from what the current crop of S.A artists are doing now.
Bongo Flava is not popular at all in Naij but i'm positive more people probably know Diamond Platnumz than any S.A amapiano artist. This is a very big issue the current S.A artists need to fix. Its actually quite sad.
This is such a great comment and awesome idea for the upcoming videos!!! I have a theory already and I'll bring up your comment when I do it. 💛
Nigerian don’t do amapiano,it called Fuji and juju,it kinda sound like amapiano because of the long drum
@@therealsavage31 you just desparate at this point
You are confused and your music couldn't reach anywhere without economic migrants who crated large diaspora communities in western countries that are liberal and it took internet and social media while other African nations like SA had their music international earlier on without those. Trying too hard to put yourselves up. and Nigerian artists copy SA sound, that says it all
@@lozi4163 My dear don’t live in SA and think SA is the only country doing great before now.
Do you know what is called promotion of music? I don’t think you know .
here is another SA thinkinh SA was the only country doing better before others.
Firstly, you are different saying out of my point.
You are guys were just fight for yourselves then not Africa, meanwhile we were trying to hard to bring Africa out to the world.
Don’t hate we are not the cause of you guys pro.
Nigeria needs get stole any sound from SA
Have you forgetting Nigeria had up to 500 languages with different culture and each culture has different traditions tools to produce beats, you can say Nigeria got an inspiration from SA to make sound you guys thinks is amapiano. Social media hate is the cause of all this .
Taking about international do you know psquare ? When Nigerians were doing songs with American artists we know nothing about SA except the female booty. Wizkid was the one who first introduce SA artists to us in 2018 and we never think to vibe SA song until 2021 when davido futured focalistic.
We were only vibing songs from West Africa then.
We are not doing amapiano
There are may version of Afrobeat
This stay you know today is the sound lucky to boost African.
Don’t comment what you don’t know
Very ignorant you are
Why compare something that's so obvious. Nigeria music create waves all over the world, selling out concert, winning awards. People should stop comparing and let us move forward. We are getting no where comparing among ourselves..team up and work together and dominate. We shouldn't forget that Nigerian music helps SA amapiano to be popular because it's blend into some of the popular Nigerian tracks. Beat alone can not just make money for you.. Amapiano artists need to be creative. Amapiano is just like UK drum and bass underground music in my opinion.
I get what you are trying to get at but comparison is for healthy debate to help us all understand multiple sides, celebrate our achievements and see how we move forward together to win even more. It's not done to divide. Thanks for your comment BTW
Thats coz you have larger diaspora communities your music was nowhere before migration while SA music was without a need for migration. Nigerian artist copy SA music, so is not about international validation, is about good sound and who do it better. when you do it better, others will copy you and Nigerians are the case of copying SA sound
@lozi4163 This is just trash. Which of your musicians can fill up a stadium anywhere outside South Africa? You guys like to make an unnecessary noise. We help promote some of those you call music done by the South Africans, and we do not make any noise about it. My people often say that you have it before means nothing if you do not have it now. Nigeria has no competition in music at the moment in Africa, and that's the plain truth. All these unnecessary comparisons are a waste of time and purely for entertainment to attract internet traffic.
Copy? Don't be silly we only helped to make amapiano popular u should be grateful, we've been topping charts before we dabbled with amapiano Dont be silly

SA has more grammys than Nigeria because quality beats quantity any day. Your sound always sounds like a copy of other sound and thats the problem, at some point it sounded like hip hop and reggae, today it just sounds like Amapiano because Amapiano dominated what you call your sound

So based on the data used in this video to determine the country with the better music industry, it seems that without Tyla (just one artiste) South Africa wouldn't be in the reckoning !
I have seen Tyla but I am yet to listen to her music, but she more or less is carrying South Africa on her back in this "battle"!
Also, while counting the Grammy Awards winners for each country, he left out Henry Olusegun Adeola Samuel ...better known as Seal , Grammy winner 1996.
Of course, as we all know, trends and fads can come and go!
However, " in this dispensation of time", there are by far more Nigerian artistes being more impactful on the global stage AT THIS TIME!

Is Seal not a British citizen born in Paddington? He's fathered by a Brazilian man and mothered by a Nigerian... Although no African country can contend with Nigeria. I don't know if we should count Seal in the list. I mean, do we divide his Grammies between Brazil, the UK and Nigeria? Is that how this works? If his father is Brazilian, is he not Brazilian?
@@t_rxley No Seal is entirely Nigerian, sadly that was the story he himself put about early in his younger life !
Growing up in London, he must have been exposed to the bullying and teasing as an African child and might have felt the need to " doctor" his heritage or origin!
His name is Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel!
Nothing remotely Brazilian about his name!
In fact, his multiple Yoruba names tells you his real allegiance lies! ( it is a trend that continues through to his biracial children)!
The "Brazilian" in his storyline was to bring some exoticness to his persona !
Although in truth, going back a few hundred years some freed black slaves from Brazil did return to Lagos .
They resettled in Lagos island next to returnees from Cuba and Sierra Leone!
It is possible that is his story on his father's side, though the truth is, they didn't come back as passport holders of Brazilian, Cuban or West Indian nationals!
They were freed and emancipated African slaves from these foreign countries, who took advantages of the passage to return to West Africa!
They did bring their new names in many cases and some types of recipes!
But All were acculturated and absorbed into Yoruba culture and lifestyle within one generation!
Seal is Nigerian!
👊🏾🇳🇬👊🏾🇳🇬!
@@aframaco9491 well, my wife's last name is Ndebele (her mother's last name) but she's still Portuguese by descent because her father is a Mozambican Portuguese man. Also, isn't Samuel Seal's last name? After his Brazilian father "Francis Samuel?"

I'm wondering why you didn't make use of the last 12 months instead of using the last 3months? We all know 2023 didn't start in the last 3 months. So?
I respect the fact that you actually asked this question. This purely depends on the metric at hand. Doing only 12-month or lifetime metrics skews the data to favour the artist with the longer career. This won't show the impact of contribution based on right now, or recently per se. So it makes sense to do 3-month windows on SOME metrics to get a more accurate picture in that regard. The more comparisons I do, the more this gets tweaked until I have a template that makes sense for all.

It's obvious where your bias lies. When you did the naija vs Ghana comparison the metrics you used changed when it came to that with naija vs SA. Instagram and Tik tok category, you choose to limit to 3 months or 1 month just to accommodate where your bias is. You look at most streaming platforms and have majority of Nigerian artists on it and you choose to use report from unknown institutions as your guide. South Africa is not even close when it comes to Entertainment.
In my opinion Nigeria takes it by the volume of artists in the Top 25. Nigeria takes that comfortably
Nigerian artists copy SA sound not the other way around, is we go by streams it wont be fair, you have large community in diaspora that pushed your culture there, we turn to live in our country for most part and we not economic migrants so that played a role but you can see quality sound and those who can event sound hence Nigerians copy SA sound. Amapiano has changed how your sound sounds because it dominated your sound, 5 years ago, your sound sounded different but since amapiano, your artists just copy and paste our sound
@lozi4163 I checked the Grammy, and it now has the Afrobeat category, same with AMA, BET, and so on . I didn't see Amanpiano there. We copied your sound, and we're bigger with it. That's creativity. @@alegbekehinde8753 Amapiano is a genre that went out 4 years ago and how old is your so cold Afrobeats which is not an actual genre but a copy of another sound from other blacks? How many Grammy's you have? You have a large community of your people in UK and the USA who fled Nigeria in search of economic migration and those whose countries are known for being inclusive. In the UK, Caribbeans played a role in putting your sound there and in the USA is black Americans and other artists hence the biggest song by Nigerians is Rema on UA-cam with Selena yet for us is Master Kg who did not need a USA artist to make a hit. Same with Wizkid, his biggest Feature is with Drake, you'll kiss ass to be known, you had to do lots of features with American artists and have a large community of your people there, your sound is not impactful on its own while we have created legends and sound that travel without getting help from American artists or a large community of diaspora. Nigerians even copy our sound.
@@alegbekehinde8753 You not bigger with our sound, you copied it because we are better than you and you look up to us hence you copy our sound and dance moves meaning having big streams online is not a prove of quality sound that just means large population. 😂😂😂 big lie... You be south Africa that why...
I'm not but thanks for watching
With the new wave 3 Step afro house/Afro Tech emerging from South Africa. I know South Africa will be number 1. Cos they have amapiano which is big and 3 step is just 🔥
Nigeria has a large population, it's almost 4X that of South Africa and numbers is a given for them in term of support for their artists but you can't deny that South Africa with its small population is very resiliant, look at those Grammy nominations and awards.
Look at the revenues from the media platforms.
Regarding William Last krm, he is adopted by Southt Africans hence the numbers.
Botshana has a population of 2 Million plus so those numbers are coming mostly from South africans, not taking away support from other neighbouring countries like Lesotho, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zimbia and Mozambique.
South Africa has brilliant institutions and processes around that so their efficiency shows. Longevity and powerful institutions goes real far, even in the film industry it's the same advantage
Jamaica have six million people
South Africa used to be very good during the Mariam Makeba era with pata pate, mama africa. May her soul rest in peace. Chaka Chaka also very good with a whole of nice songs. I cry for freedom.

It's funny how and why you had to restrict the instagram comparison to only their new followers in the last 3 months, knowing the SA girl is the only one presently just getting popular because of only 1 song, to make SA win in that category. I believe you were intensionally biased, and you just lost a fan. You said no BS, but what is this?
Burna boy is the biggest in Africa and nobody is coming close
👊🏾
South Africans make music for South Africans hence the lyrics are in our language and we can be creative and make quality music
Nigeria makes music for the millions of the nigerians in other countries hence they have a bigger platform internationally and the biggest populated country in Africa numbers does not mean quality or better music
Silly excuses
You don't just give point because of one person at the top
Didn't matter if I did or not.
Nigerians: "We have more artists in the Top 20 so we should win!"
South Africans: "We have the #1 artist in the category so WE are #1!"
Screwed if I do, screwed if I don't so I said YOU the people decide 👊🏾
If I was a amapiano producer in SA I would make beats for Nigerian artists as we make good beats
You know game my G
South Aftica stays true to Africa whilst Nigeria tries to please the world
Very interesting perspective! Hadn't looked at it that way
Fake reviews!!!
Seal is Nigerian too... add that and you didn't tie anything!
Thanks for watching 💛
Let’s not forget nigeria has billions inside nd outside their country… billions overflowing to other countries fr years
Afrobeats belong to Ghana 🇬🇭 was traced and Origin in Ghana in 1920's and Nigeria stole it and turns to them in 1960's,Nigerians are stealing nothing special with them they are busy trying to use South Africa music in Nigeria whch they not know the meaning of Ama before Piano what a shame for Nigerians
Nigeria 🇳🇬
The first african musician to popularize African music in the west was Babatunde Olatunji. His music sold millions of copies before Miriam makeba. The most streamed African artist is Nigerian, most awarded, highest booked, most certified, most covered, highest grossing concerts, most areana and stadium shows, most exported songs, most headlined, most artists to chart on billboard, most artists to chart on bb top 10, most to reach #1 etc ALL NIGERIAN.
Lmao what are y'all even arguing about.
Nonsense
You can't even compare
Give the masters the crown
They work hard
Give them their flowers 🌸
Nigeria
There you go 👑👑👑👑👑 happy new year 💛
Number 2 is also Nigerian they occupied every position
Based on the data, Nigeria will win. They have more even at statistics where South Africa with Tyler winning, u end up seeing Naija as close 2nd and many more o the pool than South Africans.
U can have 6 nominee from naija in top 10 and two or just one South African in the pool
Exactly what I said at the end, Nigeria's volume of artists in the Top 10, 25, 50 etc means they are Africa's giant
South African music is taylored for South Africans, not the international market; for now, there is no point in going international. The game will change when South African musicians start targeting international industries like Nigeria.
I think what continues to make South Africa unique is exactly what you said, they make music for themselves and champion their own music locally. Even in that, they have broken out a few genres internationally regardless: Gqom, Amapiano being the ones we've seen in the last 8-9 years and other outliers through Die Antwoord, Seether etc. Effortlessly done
S A my country takes it
Very little to separate Nigeria and SA
Trash comparison
Burna boy is bigger than the SA MUSIC INDUSTRY
Thanks for watching 💛
@@MJWemotosouth africa has richest african music industry in africa
Check out PCW africa intertainment outlook report
Funny thing is that Burna came to SA to boost his career before going global. He knows it too 😅
They whine urself😂
💛
Bro go back and make good research about the Grammys okay Nigerias has more
Sade adu 5
Seal 4
Chamillionaire 1
Sikiru adepoju 1
Cynthia erivo 1
Burns boy 1
Wizkid 1
Tems 1
Never compare Nigeria entertainment industry to any industry in Africa Abeg
No be say we Dey try oo
We are the best 😂😂😂❤️🇳🇬🇳🇬❤️
🙅🏾♂️
We learnt it from Aids denial is the disease itself not HIV😂😂😂 on average SA is 🔥
Very skewed information...Nigeria is way ahead of the game and South Africans will admit that too.
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts
This is trash 😂
How do I make it right my friend???
Dude do your research, Femi kuti & Seun Kuti both won Grammies. That’s 2 extra winners from nigeria. And your bogus final categories r sus. Stop it
The Instagram followers is incorrect, you can't based your analysis on last three month and based some others analysis on decades of achievement. That is a biased analysis.... Nigeria clearly takes Instagram followers
Ok
Well you comparing a population of 300million people to 60million people. Nigeria is ought to do well because there's alot of them trying their luck in the music industry
I appreciate your comment. If population numbers were the only success determinant then the country with the most people would always win at, well, everything...
These comparisons help to build perspective and help us all see that competition is strong and healthy. Many countries are also good at certain things helping to create a unique ecosystem that showcases our diverse strengths.
And fela won one too
Very biased. I used to respect you a lot.
That's okay my friend. In life we won't agree on everything whether it's as friends, family or colleagues, that's how it goes sometimes. Whatever your decision is hereon, I respect it.
You don't talk about Nigeria olumida sea
The Brits have him
You are so wrong my South African friend. You need to repent
But I'm not South African my friend
Useless comparison my G
Thanks for watching fam

Hello Bro, you did a good job with your analysis, but fir the grammy nominations and grammy winners, you didn't mention
"SEAL" He's a Nigeria British, he won 3 grammys in one night with his "KISS FROM A ROSE ALBUM"
You also omitted the Kuti family...
"MADE & FEMI KUTI" also won the grammy
So your analysis on the grammy winners is not correct, that round goes to Nigeria because when you add the 3 grammys from to the 8 you already mentioned gives you 11 grammys, then add the 2 grammys from Made and his father Femi kuti, then it gives you total of 13 grammys Won 🏆 by NIGERIANS 🇳🇬 so Nigeria won this round
Thanks for your comment my friend 💛
Flawed analysis. Nigeria takes all
🫡
You are biased. Obvious you are South African. You didn't even mention Seal's Grammy. TYLA had just one hot song 'Water' lol
One word…….POPULATION 😂
You know they are gonna come for you, right?! 😂😂😂
Well if population determine the success of a country music industry then China and India would be number 1 when it comes to music 😅 so y'all should stop making that silly excuse because your music industry is not as good as Nigerian music industry
Moron! What's the population of Jamaica? It's under 3m. Their music has done far more numbers than South Africa with 62m will ever do.
Comedian 😂
💛💛💛💛💛
southafricans are basically jumping on NIGERIA"S moving train
😲😲😲😲😲
Only tyla..cos of her one hit song. We are here watching..
If she got it... she got it
How can you be giving points to SA when Nigeria has more artistes in the top 10, top 20, top 30 and so on
This is exactly what I said at the end that in my opinion Nigeria takes it by the volume of artists in the Top 25. Nigeria takes that comfortably
quality over quantity.
@@AizenIPlannedIt what quality exactly, you realize we all just love the beat right? Nobody absolutely nobody understands what they are saying (except south Africans themselves)
Amapiano has no content, just beats and repetition of words
@@FAT_HOUSE "no content, just beats and repetition of words"??? it's not our fault you don't understand 'dance music culture' and how large of an audience it has world wide, hence why you think mainstream music charts, streaming numbers & views 'which can easily be faked' are the only legit indicator of success, then you wonder why south africa keeps getting accolades 🤣
@@MJWemotoso what’s the point of your videos. bro you acting like ghanian. videos like this turn us off and we can change it on you. without nigeria there is no amapiano. tyla or whatever her name is. has just one song. all ur artist have no song more say 2. u guys are amateur. babies. don’t compare our industries is disrespectful. and i may stop listening to ur song soon if you keep this nonsense up
