Hope you see this: thank you, thank you, thank you. Bought a Keystone 62 to play some 8mm I stumbled upon. This video taught me how to load it, play it, and rewind it!
I'm leaving a commet on this video because the comments on the How to Replace Homelite Weed Eater String | 13" Dual Sided Spool Technique are turned off. Thanks so much for demystisying re-loading the spool ! You made a confusing task easy !
On your video at 1:18 the mechanism you are talking about is the same for my projector. Mine seems to be real loose and does not hold the film in place. I am also not able to focus and get the film to run through it right. I did all the steps you showed and it still does not work. Any suggestions? Can you talk about why this might be happening?
I have two 1920’s and 30’s keystone projectors. One works fine, almost mint condition, the other is a D-62. The reels run, the light comes on, but I somehow can’t get the light to go through the lens to project on the wall.
Question: There must be a missing adapter for the 8mm spool. The spool opening is too big. Please help and respond? The film spool just will falloff when turned on.

If the Spool falls off you may have the wrong reel. Try to check if you have a 8mm or if its a different kind.
Same problem here
I have the same problem with the spool not fitting properly but it's the one that came with the machine. I don't understand how to secure it
