Because people want more mention of what source we use and I forgot, here we are: Our rapier is a mixed bag of Capo Ferro, Giganti, and L'Aange. (Maybe some mild peppering of Bolognese & Meyer Rappier too)
The running R2 is the current meta and it true combos into one handed R1. If you have enough poise you can safely tank most of the counter attacks, plus with the spear talisman you get upto 13% damage buff for your counter attacks.
now all i need is some armor and to die so i can be a spirit and follow my brother or girlfriend forever by being their STANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNDO
Why do you need to lean forward like in the movies? While you have that extremely long reach weapon in your hand? That makes no sense because Rapier is the longest reach one-handed sword ever made. This sword is designed to extend longer than any other sword.
@@boldmunkhtaivan72 I would assume that if you lean forward you can utilize your reach to poke holes into your opponent before they are within reach of you.
@@boldmunkhtaivan72Meyer used tactics involving getting under the opponent's blade, and using springy attacks that were hard to perceive, and somewhat unconventional.
Nice vid, just wish it was longer. Nothing is faster or more lethal than a long blade moving in a straight line. The rapier is in my opinion the ultimate evolution of the sword.
There is no ultimate evolution of the sword. Different weapons are better in different situations, and some weapons counter others. The rapier is restricted in tight spaces, where other blades would not be. What matters are the conditions of the fight and how familiar the fighters are with the weapons.
SO vulgar :D But all kinding aside - amazing video as always! I especially liked the 3rd and 4th technique - always nice to see some cutting in rapier :D
That one was very much more a German side sword technique than something an Italian rapierist would do, cuts in Italian rapier are usually made from the fingers and wrist and consequentially are a much smaller motion than the cut you see demonstrated in the video.

Julian Schuetze No love for Fabris? I actually got started with Giganti but eventually transitioned to Fabris.
Never a mention of Giacomo di Grassi, like ever. In any HEMA video I've ever watched.
I thought I sensed a hint of oregano

Is there eventually going to be a grand unmasking of The Masked Assistant?
Siesta Time I came here just to say this.
Maybe at the big event. HEMAMANIA's gonna run wild brother!

@@scottmacgregor3444 Yes, who was the masked man?
@@Trianglewitch. I'm sorry to say that I wasn't able to defeat and unmask the masked assistant.

Thank you for this video, I am currently choreographing a rapier fight for a play
Excellent technique.
Epic! I'd like to learn how to pull off these techniques

SILVOOOOO CHARIOTO
I always thought you were supposed to lean forward in most Italian rapier systems?
In Fabris and Meyer.
Giganti, Capo Ferro and L'Ange are back-weighted and back-leaning in varying degrees

Agreed. The brutal finesse, and deadly elegance.

Only rapier can do long sword clash
The cut around seems way too slow in my opinion, although I’m not a sword artist, only a boxer.
Logan Hendon pretty sure thats just so that we can see it properly in full contact ya wanna giddy the hell up.
