Because of some confusion in the comment section: There is a difference between the original composition by Hans Zimmer and his actual version for the entire movie. Zimmer's original compositions are mostly called "Suites" (e.g. "Jack Sparrow"/"Day One Dark") and are longer. "Tick-Tock" is such a piece which you can not hear exactly like that in the movie. The cutted version for the movie scene is called "Mountains".
Have to say that Tick-tock is one of my favorite in interstellar. The increasing of tempo from 60 to 120 like a speeding second hand signifies the flying of time, and the volume rises and falls like those gigantic waves on the planet.
I love the awkward feeling of the descending notes because it paints with the music that terrible heartache he had for leaving the daughter...and those painful feelings haunting on every second
These are students that hope to one day take the seat of the person who they're flipping the music for. All of these page flippers can play the instrument a 100 times better than most of the people commenting on this video. They just didn't make lead yet. It's pretty common practise at most of the big schools where they teach anything related to music
LMAO.... Magnificent composition, magnificent musicians, unbelievable piece of mind blowing music. And what do I see.... an old speaker with probably a 12 inch woofer and an old many boom box front and center. WTF?
I play this on piano but never have I seen 4 pairs of hands on a grand piano with an organist playing also! What fun!!!! Hands, fingers, toes going everywhere!
This was a really nice arrangement! Many elements were beautiful, but I think it could be improved if those descending chromatic scales that start about 1/4 into the piece are reworked. They sound a bit out of place and a little awkward. Edit: for anyone still commenting -- Yes, I am quite familiar with the original piece and what the arranger was attempting to imitate with those scales. My opinion still stands. An important part of transcribing and arranging music for an instrument is understanding the strengths, weaknesses, and limitations of said instrument you're arranging for. Often, techniques for a stringed instrument just do not translate well or aren't possible at all (vibrato, anymone?) on a piano. Remaining faithful to an orchestral piece when arranging for piano can have its strengths, but as I maintain here, it can also take away from the piece overall. Faithfulness to a piece for faithfulness' sake is not always beneficial. Again, I think the arranger did a great job capturing many of the other elements of the original piece -- the unknown, the wonder, the grand sense of adventure -- and the techniques used to evoke these emotions are executed well. It's a job well done and I generally enjoyed it -- I just don't love those descending scales.
Same here. Coming from an electronic background, it felt like someone has misinterpret a midi channel and placed a wrong instrument on those notes. So Marcin, it does seems like a bass, but mistaken for a piano part... :) Classical speaking, it sounded 'off' indeed.
Marcin M I understand what they're trying to imitate, but certain notes, or scales, or sounds in general, when translated onto acoustic piano, just don't sound good.
Those notes are from the inability of the pianists to sustain the organ "breathing". It's not necessarily their fault, very few pianists can mimic Organ sounds with the normal 3 pedals available. Synthesizer pianists have no excuse whatsoever. The "Organ" you hear kicked in exactly when the track no longer called for it.
It's impossible. Instrumental piano music it's a mirror of age... of current reality. Set a classic example beside it and you could feel some different. Absolutely amazing. Piano could express the human's timeframe.
Damn, this was portrayed so God damn well. Every little part was so well thought out, that when they were all put together it sounded kinda messy in that omnibus kind of way, and that's exactly how the original one sounded like. I love it. Also the skill, to be able to portray it so well, is amazing. I think they completely nailed it. Also a lot of people didn't seem to like the scales, but I feel the exact opposite. They gave that bottomless feeling of realization and despair when they saw the wave.
When I saw the comment from the uploader that this is a proper representation of the MUSIC and not the movie's soundtrack I realized I needed to change my expectations and I'm thoroughly surprised and how great this sounds. Few things to note: how about the EPIC sound quality of that silver boombox center stage? Thing was amazing in range! Also major applause to the two girls who are managing the sheet music at 6:25 -ish, well done keeping things moving.
Very chaotic. This is perfect however, in showing how complicated Hans Zimmer's mind is. This is a perfect recreation. Thank you. I listen to this while studying.
Fantastic arrangement. I disagree with the criticism about the lack of organ. I think the long piano intro creates anticipation for the larger sound that the organ introduces. The moment when it does come is, sensibly, absolutely awesome. Great work.
It’s a genius characteristic not a lot of musicians use. To not completely sap music of its power, you can’t use the strongest part of the song too long. Take No Time For Caution and the Interstellar docking scene for example. As soon as Cooper sequences the docking, that awesome fucking organ starts to play those E minor chord notes, but this only happens for what, about 30 seconds? If anything it just makes you want to replay the entire song again. Sure I know Coward has the same pattern playing throughout the entire second half, “but it’s undeniably beautiful”.
Brilliant, well done all!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 What I especially love is that this music by Zimmer is so amazing, stunning and captivating that there are MANY people of all ages in so many countries who want to either play the music as close to the original as they can or they improvise and create their own interpretation. Many people dont know this but the bpm or the ticks per minute at the start of the score is 48 bpm but it starts to accelerate around 2:44 and gets set to 60 bpm at the end of the motif. Its always good to listen to different arrangements of pieces like this, but I probably won't replay this one. The organ kicking in is the only thing that saved this one.

Geet Suri Great point dude. And plus the sound of the piano is always decaying. There’s no way to increase the volume of the note once the hammer hits the string, unlike a wind instrument or a digitally produced bass. So the point that comments raise about over complicating the parts may come from the attempt at amending the decay of the sound. And yes using organ more easily ‘fixes’ the problem, but hey this is a piano and organ cover. Not an organ solo.
@@manskiptruck It is in the music, but is not the same way.. just listened it now and in the original version, the descending notes are much more...discreet or understated. The way they put it in this version sound a little akward indeed..

Great point dude.
This is perfection.
I appreciate this music.
Wunderbar! Das habt ihr gut hinbekommen.
I hope you do these things professionally. You deserve the money

Very nice I’m glad it was in my recommendations
9/10
Very well done and obviously took lots of practice.
I simply can't stand the descending notes. Does not sound right whatsoever!
It definitely does. It's in the music
Agree with the 9/10, though my problem is with the accuracy in timing, especially for a song titled Tick Tock
вам по ходу медведь на 2 уха наступил, что для вас это хорошо???
Stefan Brockelbank shaking my head my head?
@@manskiptruck It is in the music, but is not the same way.. just listened it now and in the original version, the descending notes are much more...discreet or understated. The way they put it in this version sound a little akward indeed..
Hey idk if I'm being stupid, insensitive, both or neither but what's that thing like from his ear to his foot with the guy on the left (ik bad English but its 3:36 and my brain hurts)
