  • The 4.8 magnitude earthquake was centered 9 miles north of Anchorage, at a depth of 26 miles (Alaska Earthquake Center). This quake is actually an aftershock of the 2018 earthquake, a magnitude 7.1. There have been more than 11,000 aftershocks since that November 30, 2018 event. Our Streamtime Live camera had quite the shake!

For those questioning why they did not see other movement. The typical frame rate, capture, of the cameras used like this do not see the quick motion of things shaking unless the movement is significant. This was a relatively mild shake. I most certainly felt it and so did my house.

There were two quakes about 20 or so minutes apart. One near Cordova (Too far away for me to feel, M4.2) and this one which was 50-ish miles away from me and it rattled my cabinet doors, building creaked and popped and my TV nearly fell over.

I was inside the Silvertip Lodges gas shack at Lake Hood when a 4.8 quake occurred in June 1979. It's the only quake I've experienced.
