I believe Manchester United needs to make some hard decisions and take a step back to truly rebuild, even if it means offloading players who are no longer contributing to the club's vision. It’s time to acknowledge that the squad's depth and mentality have stagnated, and the only way forward might be to go through the pain of a clean slate. United must cast aside its lingering sense of grandeur, which has, in many ways, hindered genuine progress. If Barcelona-a club with similar history and reputation-can face the harsh realities of restructuring, then so can we. It’s a rite of passage for any great club that’s lost its way. The idea of bringing in someone like Roy Keane, even in a mentorship or advisory capacity, is immensely appealing. Keane would instil a level of accountability and grit that the club currently lacks. He’s not just a reminder of United’s past success but a living example of what it means to never compromise on effort or desire. His presence could be a wake-up call for a squad that often seems comfortable despite mediocre performances. Sometimes, you need a figure who demands that players earn their place and respect the club's values-not just by showing up on match day but by embodying a winning mentality in everything they do. Accepting a season, or even two, without European football could be the humbling reset the club needs. This could allow us to focus on the fundamentals: nurturing young, hungry talent, reinforcing a work ethic, and re-establishing an identity on the pitch. Grand European ambitions can come later; right now, United needs to strip everything back to basics, rediscovering a coherent style and structure from the ground up. It’s about laying solid foundations, unshaken by past glories or expectations, to rebuild a legacy that is worthy of the club's rich history. In the end, it may be the only way to restore true greatness.

Southgate hasn't proved he can build a team at club level. He was given some great players for England. All he had to do was get the best out of them. Not sure he did.
Are United any better today than the day he walked through the door? The answer is no and they are arguably worse despite spending 600m. That is all Ten Hag’s doing and his failure to assemble a competitive team. The only puzzling thing was how he lasted this long while setting all kinds of unwanted records and overseeing so much embarrassment. To top it off he didn’t own any of it and made himself incredibly dislikable in the media through his excuses and delusion.
I don't understand why let the manager bring in his players and new backroom staff and sack him after 9 games 🙄 they didn't play badly against west ham just failed to score any of their 28 chances. Decision baffles me.

@@samyounge4613 that could be said of most of the team, was he any worse than Antony?
Time for them to hire a serial winner as coach
I don’t care how We got the 3 points but We really needed the win and done Man Utd fans a favour in the bargain!
COYI ⚒🏴👊🏽
As an Arsenal fan it would be friggin hilarious if Man Utd appointed Southgate
SO now we know why they let Alex Ferguson go - he was probably against getting rid of Erik Ten Hag, so they needed to move him sideways out of the influence circle so they can move forward..
To top it off he didn’t own any of it and made himself incredibly dislikable in the media through his excuses and delusion.
he did win 2 cups, but you're right, utd are no better than when he got the gig.
Southgate or Ole as the new Manager tells you all you need to know about certain fans and how ETH survived for so long.
I don't understand why let the manager bring in his players and new backroom staff and sack him after 9 games 🙄 they didn't play badly against west ham just failed to score any of their 28 chances. Decision baffles me.
David Moyes will love a second chance to redeem himself
ETH set all sorts of negative historical records during his tenure at Manchester United and you are well shot of him. From an LFC fan (Who is sad to see him go).
