The "Missing" Chapters(8 of them), on his Ren Makes Stuff youtube channel, are really amazing to listen to, hear, and understand. Truly brings context and clarity to this track.

Ye I've been watching them, heartbreaking with everything he has gone through and I appreciate him so much more. The courage, the strength to keep going at his darkest times. He is one talented guy and as a fellow welshman I'm glad he's doing well and getting the recognition he deserves. I loved your "Hi Ren" reaction especially when he stood up from the wheelchair, your vocal reaction and instant tears gave me chills and made me a bit teary. Great stuff.
The biggest point is that he had NO diagnosis for the first 7 or whatever years, basically being ignored or not being believed by the Doctors
Wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy for sure. The biggest point that Ren I believe is trying to promote is there is always hope, don't give up. While at the same time bringing awareness to these overlooked medical conditions.
The chapters put everything into perspective, not just this song, but all of his art. Well worth a watch.
Everyone should watch and react to the Chapters. It will save lives.
I was diagnosed with young onset Parkinson's at age 37. I am now 60 and the disability benefits thing hits me hard. I can't count the number of people who have told me how lucky I am to get SSDI. I would gladly give anything to have my health

You know to me the chapters tell me his story and to me this is like an infomercial for hope.... Ren is really a miracle and a testament to never giving up.
This song has had me in tears all day, it hit so close to home because I've spent the last 3 years dealing with all kinds of symptoms, being barely functional, going from doctor to doctor and never getting answers. I finally got so frustrated with all of it, I sat down and poured over everything I've been told, every symptom, every possible issue. I made a list of everything it could be, went to the specialists I needed to, asked for specific tests and by process of elimination I figured out my own damn diagnosis. It's been a long and frustrating 4 years. It's wonderful that Ren used the phrase, "God I forgive you", it really shows where he's at in his healing process. I could not be more happy for him, and he's given me hope that I can get there too.

I’m glad you got yourself diagnosed. I’m 15 years now and now diagnosis. Been to so many doctors, sent to shrinks, had so many operations and still no definitive answer. I’m with pain management for the last 5 and the injections and medications at least allow me to get out of bed.

With great power comes great responsibility, and Ren is truly a hero! He is using his growing powers and platform for so much more than simply creating brilliant music. Ren has said that he always had this feeling that he was meant to change the world for the better. So much that he defiantly yelled a challenge to evil into an empty room. And then he got sick…
Ren has now shared the full story of his health journey in 8 video chapters leading up to the release of this song and what a journey it has been. If anyone hasn’t already watched them, I highly recommend you do. And I would watch you react to them too. I think each reaction helps him in his goal to spread awareness. But whether you end up reacting or not, definitely watch them.
With all the chapters Ren is showing immense strength in sharing his story that is so hard to tell, being vulnerable and telling it because he hopes it will help others and raise awareness. And here he is with another rendition of that story, now told through music with a fire beat and delivering a message of hope. A beautiful hero that the world needs ❤️🐰🕳️

Ren was brought up in the mindset of a hippy. And he has a similar trait to this day. No, not spliff up, drop out and fight 'the man', but care for your brothers and sisters, both known and unknown.. put more in than you take out, the Santa Claus of love and caring. His toolset is music, and his ammunition is physical and mental troubles mixed with love and sharing

YES….with her chemistry with Ren, her unique understanding of mental health, and her own struggles along her own spiritual path…I feel like not just her voice would be a good match with his on the right song, but that what her spirit brought to the art would be equally valuable.
One amazing side effect of Ren (not that being blessed with his amazing music isn't enough) is that people are suddenly talking about chronic illness. It feels like people are having their eyes opened to what absolute crap it is living with pain every day, and as someone who has very often felt like people really don't understand how hard it is sometimes, it's so validating to have this amazing chap just verbalise it so accurately that people now have more of an idea. I mean, 'ejected from the cockpit of living' and the idea of the person you were 'going missing' is just... *Chefs kiss*. I really hope Ren has every success and a long career because he bloody deserves it.

You are incredible with your seemingly endless well of empathy and your ability to revisit thoughts and ideas that you previously had and rethink them. That is something that is sorely needed these days. So many times people have an idea and then just dig their heels and will not change or rethink their feelings. Just like Ren, you are helping more people than you will probably ever realize. Thank you for everything you do.
Took him 7 years to get a diagnosis so it actually much more bleak than even you described. Seven years just to get to the part where you started. He’s literally been to Hell and back and as a teen and early 20s the anguish it caused was like getting ejected from the cockpit of life! Damn. And the fact that she told his mom, if there was no answer at the end of year two he’s sorry, but he would not be around any longer! And the only thing that kept him from taking his own life was the fact that his best friend jumped off a bridge, and he saw the damage that caused his family and he could not put his mother through the same so he decided he will just wait for the disease to take his life but there was solace, and knowing that it would most likely be relatively soon. But it wasn’t, it was so far far away! Ren we’re all proud of you For surviving the shark pit until God finally answered your call. I can’t think of a better person to champion the cause. 💜

Lyme disease and the fight for recognition. On the D C documentary channel. They talk to people who suffer from it. And how hard it is.
Worth watching if anyone wants to know more about what it's like to live with.

His selfless sharing is and will help countless people to find compassion, understanding and not feel so damn alone when suffering an invisible illness.
Rosalie, I remember you said you had a postpartum mood disorder. You came through the dark night and are a shining light. I had postpartum derealization and no answers at the time. Even my midwives had no clue (also love Call the Midwife series). I eventually found relief. That daughter is now 21. And I have been able to empathize and help others with postpartum derealization to find the light.
I believe there is a reason for suffering even if our little minds can’t comprehend what that reason is. Bless your heart beautiful lady. ❤

I think a video summary and your analysis of all the chapters together would be good, not individually - you are seeing a part of the story in this song but there is so much more. Plus thinking back to his entire catalog you do see songs differently - not just those that he showcases in chapters. He is basically reading his diary of that time. That is just my opinion.

My 34 yer old daughter has Fibromyalgia. She had been trying to find an answer for the last 8 years. She finally got that diagnosis about 2 years ago. So, she went 6 years of trying to explain to 3 different doctors what she was feeling and going through. She is so sick of being in pain. I too have chronic pain, but mine is because of many back issues, not an autoimmune disease. Ren is such a special human being.

You should come to Easter service in the Northern Cathedrals, there is some of that... not a lot, but some. The whole service is sang or chanted.
The people here were surfs, so if they left their village, no other would employ them, so they weren't allowed to leave. Obviously this hasn't been the case for a long time. 😢

Thank you Rosalie for highlighting this issue and what we as lyme and autoimmune warriors suffer thru yr after year day after day . I’ve been battling lyme and autoimmunity for 30 yrs and it’s even a miracle I’ve lived this long but w God’s help and my will to survive by the Grace of God do I continue to hang onto hope of a cure. Each reactor brings a light to our plight. Someday I pray to tell my full story in a way to bring hope to others. I try to document my struggles on soc media when I have strength to do so. In each of his chapters he describes a phase of his life followed by video footage about what he spoke about. Leading to this as the finale to the last chapter. I’m so happy he paid the estate of Mrs Hall for this sample and his mix is even better than Mobys. It’s strong he says lord I forgive you. He said he knows he can’t relate to Mrs Halls troubles but the line nobody can judge me but God really resonating with him and changed his life. I am pretty sure he became an atheist and now I think he’s moved from that position to some spiritual place that he won’t classify as religion but acknowledges there is most likely something. Yes people have said God does not need his forgiveness. But I can understand him feeling he was a good kid and didn’t deserve to miss the prime of his life while his friends thrived and enjoyed it. Well most his friends. And they say as dark as the darkness gets the light will shine equally as bright and now he’s experiencing that light and it’s just the beginning for him and his endless talents! He may be 35 but looks 25 and is healthy now on his way to 100% cured hopefully. He has said acceptance was his first step even before he had any answers.

Ren forgiving God, is his way of the method of a father being the bad guy while a child is growing up.. "wait 'til your father gets home", the person who punishes and chastises. And the day comes when the child is grown and realises that their father gave them to tools to survive the world and be a giving and loving person. That child then hugs their formerly disliked parent, hugs them and says "I forgive you father, thank you for teaching me while only raising your voice, I now know that I was troublesome and needed guidance"
