One-X is one of the best albums ever made and probably the biggest and most important reason why this album is so powerful is their singer Adam wrote almost the entire album in rehab. He was struggling with a painkiller addiction and it was turning him into something he's not. Adam is actually such a humble and extremely nice dude ans this album really defines how he was feeling during and after. Adam really has the power of bringing his emotions out HARD in his songs. He had a slight relapse a few years ago but he's currently and had stayed clean for a long time.

Basically in the early-ish years of youtube (2009-2011) there was a trend of making dinosaur tribute videos, where it was basically a collage of different dinosaur pictures played over a song, with this being played in one of the most popular videos that i used to watch all the time as a young kid. This and "get out alive" will always hold a special place in my heart due to that trend lol.

He was seeing the monster in the mirror. There was an effect on the eyes that then matched the eyes on the girl waiting for him at the end of the video. So him breaking through the glass was him realizing it wasn't him, hence "escaping the nightmare."
This song was a lot of Adam's reflection of his time with drugs and alcohol (from what I can remember). You're right for the most part. When you're in a bad funk that goes on for months it's hard waking up on time cuz it feels like there's a demon holding you down and you're just paralyzed but you're consciously awake to experience it so your mind is bringing your fears to life. Dealing with any kind of heavy dependency and addiction issues revolve around people questioning their true-self, that without that substance they go to, are they really themselves without it? Who they were before getting into that becomes a blur and all they know now is who they see in the mirror.
I definitely agree, much for the vibe and intense energy of the song and also the lyrical content about a dark side of someone... although, ehh... I'm sure "Animal I Have Become" is about drug addiction, I think. I mean, Monster is kind of a soundalike if you narrow it down to those categories.

He was seeing the monster in the mirror. There was an effect on the eyes that then matched the eyes on the girl waiting for him at the end of the video. So him breaking through the glass was him realizing it wasn't him, hence "escaping the nightmare."
This song was a lot of Adam's reflection of his time with drugs and alcohol (from what I can remember).
You're right for the most part. When you're in a bad funk that goes on for months it's hard waking up on time cuz it feels like there's a demon holding you down and you're just paralyzed but you're consciously awake to experience it so your mind is bringing your fears to life.
Dealing with any kind of heavy dependency and addiction issues revolve around people questioning their true-self, that without that substance they go to, are they really themselves without it? Who they were before getting into that becomes a blur and all they know now is who they see in the mirror.

I definitely agree, much for the vibe and intense energy of the song and also the lyrical content about a dark side of someone... although, ehh... I'm sure "Animal I Have Become" is about drug addiction, I think. I mean, Monster is kind of a soundalike if you narrow it down to those categories.
