Oh man you just made my life sooooo much easier!
My truck started out with a Lost Communication With Steering Control Module with BCM. Changed the clock spring with no change. Truck flashes all kinds of random lights. Things got more interesting today when the tech started jumping all over. Every light flashing, info screen in speedo cluster reset and started flashing all kinds of weird notifications.
I figured a BCM change was in my future but was REALLY concerned because the truck has had weight loss program, plus it’s a 68rfe swapped to g56 trans so it isn’t exactly a normal setup. Everywhere I was looking wanted to program to my vin, which wouldn’t work because it’s not an auto anymore.
I figured I would have to manually copy each and every setting with Alpha OBD but your video just showed me it’ll be a breeze!!
Once life settles down a bit, I’ll tackle this.

To everyone asking he has a used module from the looks at the 0:16 mark. The bottom left screw mount in the picture has a black ring to indicate it was previously mounted.

thank you for this! been having loss of communication issues with headlights and the transmission shifting. its been getting worse over time. a cel comes on and goes away by the time i get it to a shop. looking at gathering the obd2 device, software, and seeing if i can tackle this myself.

What is the difference (and need) to replace the BCM? Can't the older BCM just be updated with AlfaOBD to give the same results? I myself am doing the interior swap on my 2015 Tradesman.
I must have missed why you're doing this. I have intermittent issues with my hvac motors. do you think swapping this out woudl fix it?
Now can you add/install say paddle shifters instead of the two little buttons on the ram steering wheel? Or change the wheel out for a hellcat or TRX wheel? There is a TRX steering wheel on e-bay by the way 😉.. because you will have to do somethings in the bcm for the hellcat engine correct?

I follwed your video exactly how you did it but unfortunately the new BCM won't allow me to switch to acc or on posting to be able to download backup file to new BCM.. car won't start at all with new one . When I try to download file it says no data received from ecu.. how can I program without turning on switch? It's a push start button type

I can say I'm a locksmith and I do pcm chnage all the time the car will communicate to read pcm and write pcm vin and program keys by Turning on flashers to wake up system

Need some help. I swapped the BCM in my 13 to a 16 BCM. When I try to go the VIN write I get an error. I also can not upload my vehicle config file without getting an error. Any idea how to get this done?

What if the file back up was not done (could not be recovered) prior to making changes? Is there a way of recovering the original setting/codes. How do you recover the original factory settings? How is the new PCM programed to the original factory settings?
Hi Dave, did you figure out? I have simialr issue, I don't have original BCM and I need to change the VIN of used BCM.
By older are you referring to a 13? I may be having to do this.
Does this upgrade fix the body swing? my 2017 rocks back and forth i have replaced the rear sway bar and front drag links from the sway bar but still have a little body rock. in the beginning it was so bad that the anti roll function would cut the motor and then start again. Please help love your help

Have you tried to replace a 2013 ram 2500 6.7 BCM with a newer 2014-15 BCM? Mopar does not have any of the 2013 BCM's available any more and has no restocking dates set. My truck is throwing codes and having issues and I believe its from my faulty BCM. Thanks James

Actually I wonder what exactly the option "Backup configuration data" saves. According to the AlfaOBD author it does technical backup containing only the raw data, whatever that may mean. Considering the backup file is merely a few bytes and although it has a .txt extension it doesn't contain any human readable data. What about changing a broken BCM without having a configuration backup?

Question. If I follow these instruction and purchase the OBD key, I will not have to go the dealer and have the ECU flashed? Still need to purchase the BCM. Bought a Autel scanner and it keeps going back to the BCM and both door modules. I think it's the BCM.

I just plugged my Odblink to my computer and the AlfaOBD software done the BCM backup. When check for the file and display 1kb should that file be large or is correct please let me know

Not possible unfortunately. Completely different wiring systems on 2013+

I think the only thing left is the passive entry and the push to start button i really wish you do it
YT "Hydro Blue Ram", he has an OEM parts kit and makes the harness for this. I just did my 2018 2500, and added the passive handles also, works great!

@abdullahmalek9027 depends on what he has in stock. Usually he had the rf hub, antennas, push button, key fobs and harness. You'd need to get the correct door handles.
The job is easy, but difficult. The pinning of the door harnesses takes patience, but is doable.

I think this tool was a bust. Error when writing vin and error when writing original config. 2012 chrylser 300 push to start new bcm. The car did start not sure if it started from pure luck or if it actually wrote the vin snd config file. Its prior to 2018 that means old security. Good look doing this on a 2018 higher with gateway modules. Wonder if its hit-or-miss or wonder if it depends on the obd you use. I used vlinker mc

So I really want to get a stinger Heigh10 display for mine. Then build a PC to go in the dash behind the display. Once I take out the factory display the Heigh10 hangs off the front and leaves an open space. If I put a PC in there I can have HP tuners and AlfaOBD etc. built into the dash.
@timbrwolf1121 how did your pc build come out? I’m trying to do the same but can’t seem to find a step by step guide anywhere on the internet. I do have the the stinger 8eleven radio and a 15 inch touch display. I understand it would be ideal if I flash boot a sbc android os. Lmk

@@codyriiter3645 but heigh10 has an hdmi port and that's really all you need to know. It would work as a PC monitor
@@timbrwolf1121 so does my stinger radio have the HDMI connection but I haven’t ran it to a monitor yet
@@codyriiter3645 Nah you're close, but the stinger IS the monitor. Hook up a laptop or a microatc computer build up to it. I just realized you were talking about flashing software to the stinger, but you'd be much better off using it as factory and switching to a separate computer for other tasks.

Evening I've been trying to get this part and none of the dealership have it. I've been told it's a discontinued part, I have purchased one from a salvage yard will I have to do the reprogramming on it.....
@@josephkochmann575 Ive check dealerships here in Alabama and Atlanta, even south Carolina . i also called ram care for the part and was told to get it aftermarket or salvage yard.
I tried to do it like in a movie but it doesn't work out. When trying to enter vin shows the error "value out of scale" and when trying to read the value from the file it shows the error "ecu locked". Is it going to be solved somehow? My ram is from 2014 and the new bcm is from 2017

I really wish you youngsters would quit calling the hex socket size the screw size because it is not. Go to a hardware store and look for a 10 mm nut to replace one of them. You will be disappointed when you are handed a nut that is twice as big as your stud. If you are going to get paid to teach something, teach it right.
