I guess they figure no need to prep, just turn her up to 180 amps or so and burn right through the rust and crap! I honestly believe they can weld paper thin metal with a stick welder.
With out a doubt the cleanest best all around shop i have ever seen. Everyone takes great pride to make sure proper care in welding, cleaning, safety, is ensured. The proper use of new clean grease to make sure no dust, or sand could cause a bearing failure. I understand why we didn’t get to see the machine in operation.
Why building it clean when you don't install any sealings for the bearings, so the grease will work for a week than water and mud will provide the lubrication!

But they are not working safely end clean everything they made they trough to the floor. They are working on sandals non-steel toe boots, no uniform, no safety glasses it is a calamity.

I hope someone followed and properly welded this rig, nothing but a death trap like it is just spotted together. Maybe the paint job gives it structural stability!

How can you even trust this apparatus just by the shotty welding it’s a wonder these guys still have their eyes to see with incredible OHSA would just love this,They sure do love their stick welding. I wonder if they’re using even the right sticks to weld with they sure good at recycling that’s for sure in the end I would just love to see how long this apparatus actually last you should do a video of this in action because it doesn’t mean anything if it works that’s a different story.

Just as much dirt in the bearings as there is grease. There in such an all fire hurry to get it done. If they took a little more time it sure would look and probably last longer. A tremendous amount of that cleanup could be done on the lathe. The lathe operator needs to learn feeds and speeds. He’d never get near my lathe until he had some lessons. Still love to watch. So they not know what concrete floors are? lol
Not bad considering it's all 2nd hand steel. After watching them fit bearings, I felt like sending them a hydraulic press. I wonder how much they charged for that job.
While I applaud their resourcefulness, sourcing used bearings and scrap metal, not a single seal or even a grease fitting! That BTW is not how you pack a bearing with grease, I guess labor is cheap enough to have it torn down and all the bearings cleaned and re-greased 2-3 times a year.

It's a bit complicated to explain, but these are basically intermittent winches (a motor must be added) that raise a steel tube with a ball-valve at the bottom end to act as a sand trap. The tube is raised up high on a gantry, then allowed to drop into sandy soil, slowly "drilling" itself into the ground. The tube is emptied from time to time until eventually water is reached.

That's an absolutely HUGE lathe there. Looks like its been around since Christ was born. Never saw this machine in operation or for that matter even set up to do something. Kinda disappointed with that.
Why are you working on the floor, and everything you made you put on the floor. The floor is dirty. I think you have to build tables to work clean. Also, if you need to work safely you need steel-toe boots if you work in a mechanic shop you need to be clean and safe.
