You should get your cousin to engrave the Boy Scout symbol in the scales. It looks good
Really great work mate, its a pleasure to watch your videos. The only thing that stops me from doing the same is my lack of skill and knowledge. Greetings from the Northern Territory. Down Under.
Thank you sir and Thanks for watching from way Down There!!
That is so wonderful that we all raise that much as a knife community. You did a great job Kevin God bless
Thank you Sir!! God Bless!
Good job on the handles, the palm wood really lights up with the mineral oil. What does the tree look like, we do not have them out west?
I don’t know. I’ve never seen one.
Outstanding job on that knife handle Kevin!!! Typical Marine style that you adapted and overcame the obstacle of the bone!!! I recently put a water buffalo horn on a broken German Word War 2 bayonet. The shape came out well and I added paracord for extra grip. I made a sheath and had a local shoe repairman sew it up and put a snap retainer to secure the blade. You did a fantastic job on your Boy Scout knife!!! The Old Army Scout…
Thank you. It turned out better than I had planned. That is awesome on the bayonet.
Good job on the boy scout!!!😮😊😊😊
Thank you
In my opinion I think the wood looks better than the antler would've. Very nice piece for sure.
Thank you. I was pleased with how the wood turned out.
You did a really good job on this knife I like the wood handles better too! You could do an eagle on the handle because an eagle scout is the highest rank of boy scout!
Antlers are hard to work with. Been down that road . But you overcame, like a true marine. Oh-rah !!!
Great video DOC 😊
Semper Fi Marine, 💪...
Thank you. Oorah!
Turned out beautiful.
Thank you
Another patient saved; great work, Doc…!!!
Thanks for watching
DANG!! That turned out beautiful!
Could your cousin burn the Boy Scout logo in the handles?
Thank you. I’m still thinking about the engraving
Top tip for you Kevin. When you use your drill press put a bolt with a wing nut sticking up through the bed when you drill blades. If the blade jams on the drill bit it spins like a propeller quicker than you can react. The blade will only spin so far as the bolt. Old knife makers trick to save your fingers. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for sharing this!
That palm wood looks great. You can tell it feels better than it looks, great job. You'll be able to use those stag handles on another project, you'll see.
That palm wood is beautiful and feels so good.
Oh no you were doing so good with the bone , should have tried again, that was definitely the look for that knife
I wasn’t going through that again. LOL
I have repaired and restored many Westerns over the years, many with stag. I just finished a Boy Scout L66 using old leather handle washers & spacers.
That’s awesome. Thanks for sharing.
The Doctor is in. Turned out beautiful.

That is a lot more beautiful with the wood on it
I think so too!

@@theknifedoctor you know your trade, but if you had bothered to take off your mask (you were Unintelligible) your Video could have been as well made as your Knife.

Welcome
To be honest wood looks better than bone in my opinion, because everyone does bone or antler. That came out beautifully.
Thank you
Nice restoration! Congratulatios! Very good knife. Thanks Mr. Kevin
Thank you
Sure turned out nice..
Thank you.
Amazing restoration doc! God bless you

Thank you
great job doc another beautifully restored knife ✌❤
Thank you
The western L66 became the W66 awsome
Thank you
Just bought this strop at a thrift store. No.630 patented July 17, 1883. Just wanted to share with you!
Awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Grate job
Thank you!!
Honest opinion. Restore Turned out nice👍 Antler stag is choice, but takes little more time. Crafting a slab handle on those western split tangs is interesting adventure. If I was doing a stag antler on a split tang. I would probably craft a separate thin section to fill the middle gap and then epoxy/sandwich clamp the two scales with the center piece inside. Then drill and put the 2 pins in.
Thanks for sharing
@@theknifedoctor your Welcome Kevin 👍 Always enjoy watching a episode with the Doctor!
I found a Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co., Barlow that ive been wanting to put antler on, ive been holding off on it because i dont know if im quite ready to tackle that yet. To be honest with you its the knife i dont want to screw up, ive never seen one for sale nor can i even find one to compare it too. But you do give me the motivation to try. Your end result looks amazing, even if you couldnt get the antler on it.
Thank you!! Go for it! It’s fun, but bone, stag is hard to work with and it makes a huge mess. Stinks something terrible.
Great job
Thank you!
I've got a couple western fixed blades I love them great knives. Got both at the pawn shop for under $10 a piece.
Awesome Prices!
@@theknifedoctor yeah I couldn't believe it when I seen them. Now that I think about it I got one at the pawn shop for $5 and the other one I got from my boss he gave it to me. I was mistaking one of my westerns for a schrade folding lock back with gut hook and sheath that I picked up at the same pawn shop for $9 they had $20 on it I was shocked when they said $9 cash out the door. I couldn't get my cash out fast enough 😂
Thanks
Really enjoy your videos
Thank you so much!! God Bless sir and thank you for watching and supporting the channel!
I found some water Buffalo horns on a yard sale this morning. I'm going to use them for handles too
Awesome
I think it looks better with the pine than the stagg
It turned out great
"Jimping" is what most people call the groves for your thumb.
The wood looks great! I'm a newbie- why the spacers?
For looks and it helps protect the wood and metal.
Some things are just not meant to be, I guess, Kevin. I think that wood looks a lot better than the antler would have on that knife.
Thank you. Turned out better than I planned.
New subscriber here. KnifeKrazy sent me.
That’s awesome! Hope you enjoy.
Your hands look like many of our hands on the regular… Keep em’ busy young man!
Definitely working hands😂
That looks fantastic. It’s a shame about the stag. 😢
Thank you. I was disappointed at first but it turned out better than planned.
It’s not a good feeling after all that work for the antler not to work ,but in the end it still came out really nice.
I was disappointed at first but pleased with how it turned out in the end.
Obviously not my knife or artistic endeavor, but as a former scout I think it would be awesome to have the BSA emblem on the handle. Regardless, she's very pretty.
Thank you. Still thinking about the engraving.
Jimping is what the groves on the knives are called for ur fingers
Love your channel
I found something you may like a bear mgc set
Awesome
Question,I have a USA 330T Old Timer with xx on the tang. What does that mean?
Send photos to knifeproxx@gamil.com
Hey Kevin, That knife came out great. You should put big foot on that knife. I think that would look great. Good luck - later
Thank you. I haven’t decided on engraving yet but that is a great idea.
Put B.S.A. on it👍
That thang is jam up and jelly tight!😂
Sorry the bone didn't work out that would have looked really nice. But you did a fantastic job on the knife that's some nice looking wood the knife looks fantastic. Great job.
Thank you. I was disappointed at first but it turned out great in the end.
What are the black pieces you put under the wood?
G10 spacers.
@theknifedr-edc why did you use.them?
@@ofthedawn to protect the wood and metal. Helps with moisture. It also gives it a more visual appeal.
@@theknifedoctor it looks good.
i woutd put the scout shield on the scales
Put a BSA emblem on the handle.
I’m glad you wore your mask working WTH antlers is bad if you breathe that dust very bad
I like the wood better. 🐊🐊
I was wondering what did you pay for the knife eagle Or should I say what did you pay for the blade before you made it into a knife.
Like $6 if I remember right.
