NASA hired Stanley Kubrick to film the moon landing, but he was a perfectionist so he insisted on filming on location.
Ok, that was great.
I laughed a little too hard at that lol
Bingo.
stanley hated travelling so he would despise that, pretty much all of full metal jacket was filmed in england if i remember right.
@@DazsdWTP r/whoosh
The pure excitement in Eddies eyes when hes see Kubricks three wheeler is why I’m here!!!!
Yeah, he actually Squee'd.
Agreed, seeing that moment of delight was smile worthy.
watching you talk about the other directors not yet knowing they would make an appearance was hilarious
I legitimately wonder if he actually knew or not that they were going to be in there. If he mentions Bay before he comes in I HAVE to call shenanigans.
@@MistsMagic nah, they take pot shots at bay the whole time, he's easy to guess lol
@@MistsMagic Agree, I do wonder if he already knew, I mean I could have forgiven Kubrick as he is so iconic, but to ALSO mention Tarantino almost seems too much of a coincident. I mean why not mention Coppola or Scorsese? Shenanigans may be in play.
@@andrewkearley6900 I specifically meant if Eddie brought him up before the battle did. X3
And Williams.
lol, I knew this would be good when he named all the other directors before the video started
"Please don't put Michael Bay in this battle..."
I felt very sorry for you at that moment.
When he said that I busted laughing, was like I can't wait🤣
@@douglaseppinger6320 ditto
And he was like "Michael Bay doesnt give a fuck he's all about big explosions and making money" I was laughing the whole time.
You n me both. You n me both. I've only seen 1 reactor actually excited to see Bay make an appearance out of 4 bigger reactors and dozens of less known reactors
"I don't know why his movies make so much money." Well, it's easy to shut your brains off during his movies and simply enjoy a bunch of explosions.
The best explanation I've heard is that Bay approached making movies with the same checklist as making a porno; just instead of being about sex, it's an action movie.
They sell in China.
In The Shining, when Jack Nicholson had to break through the door with an axe, they originally put a prop door to make it easier. But being a volunteer firefighter, Nicholson cleaved through it like butter, so they put a regular door there to give him some challenge
nicholson always struck me as a guy who would if he lost his fame, quite happily take a normal job like joiner or plumber. like hes not scared of doing normal every day work
Made me think of Steve Buscemi.
@@LukaBlight69 now i'm thinking of the axe scene but it's Buscemi's ugly mug that pokes though the door
@@MarkoDash Yeah but if Buscemi comes through the door what’s he going to say instead of a here’s Johnny because he has to say something different
@@4055590 AVON CALLING! or DO YOU HAVE A MOMENT TO TALK ABOUT OUR LORD AND SAVIOR VINCIENT PRICE!
The pain and annoyance in Eddies eyes when he sees Bay is why I’m here!!!!!!!!!
Eddie's reaction to the foreshadowing of Stanley Kubrick is officially the purest thing on all of UA-cam.
It was absolutely amazing that you were able to call out every one of the cameo directors in your explanations before they were even mentioned! Truly shows your dedication and love for the directors and their works.
"Kubrick should've been in it" ooh boy
"I hope this isn't foreshadowing. Michael Bay better not show up" ooh boy...
the 127 take scene wasnt the door scene, it was the scene where wendy hit jack with the baseball bat, her frantic crying and terrified face were real in that scene
Wendy... Darling... Light of my life!
So much salt at the end lol.
The thing about A.I is that Spielberg didn't really change all that much, yes there is clearly a change in visual style in some parts of the movie but the script was mostly unchanged and the ending was always meant to be that way. the fascinating thing about A.I. is that it was Kubrick's attempt at a Spielberg style movie that then bacame a movie where Spielberg is trying to replicate Kubrick imitating Spielberg.
If anything spielberg pushed it too far into kubrik's style.
Yeah, you kinda feel sorry for both of them, because you can tell they both kinda wanted to also get to do what the other one did, but it just collided in an unfortunate way.
When you mentioned that Kubrick and Tarantino are your favourites I knew you were in for a helluva time.
Imagine a movie where
Tarantino writes dialogue
Kubrick is behind the camera
Bay supervises the special effects
Hitchcock writes the overall scenario
With Spielberg's budgets
Basically the Avengers : Engame of directors.
I love that Bay isn't even involved in writing or directing scenes. Not that special effects is easy, but it sounds like they demoted him and gave him some part that didn't involve the movie that directly lmao
@@Vincisomethingyou know what they say, play to your strengths.
I’m so glad you mentioned that the Jaws sharks’ name was Bruce because I never knew that, but I now realize that Bruce from Finding Nemo was named after him!
I'm 32 and TIL.....
It is well documented that Spielberg named the shark after his lawyer.
@@ricsithompson6671 which now sheds some light to the shark in Omori, who ties everyone down with his contracts! Lmao
@@heyitsmira17 capitalism bossfight
it gets better its named bruce after his lawyer.
I feel for the set person in the shining. They kept on running out of doors.
they were scrapping down the building of all the doors, kubrick couldn't slam any doors in frustration before demanding a new take near the end
When he mentions “Duel with me Alfred”, Duel was one of Spielberg’s first full length films from 1971. Based on a book by Richard Matheson.
Amazing movie
Favorite thing about ERB is their ability to capture the spirit of their characters
Funny thing Danny Lloyd didn't know he was in a horror movie (Kubrick told him it was going to be a drama) he also talks about how Kubrick was a nice guy (playing catch with him) he also talks about how he went on Easter egg hunts and ate peanut butter sandwiches with the horror twins. Sadly he was promised the tricycle when the movie was over but he never got it
"Try to Duel with me, Alfred?" Duel was one of Spielberg's first projects. Like THX1138 by Lucas.
When you said your favorites were Tarantino and Kubrick I literally started bouncing in my seat because I was so excited for you.
Also I love how they have Hitchcock nodding at what Kubricks saying about directing while the other two are bored at how long he’s taking. The little details they capture are so amazing.
I loved the little kid giggles just before Kubrick rolled in! Too cute especially from a grown man
It's been a year since this comment, but I love rewatching reactions and breakdowns, mostly from Teacher Eddie and Knox Hill, but also Scru face Jean. Anyways, I've rewound the small little part where Eddie Squee's and giggles with that high excitement in his eyes like, 15x now cuz its so so so cute to me 😊
This battle just makes me wonder what would it of been like if shakespeare had a camera crew and special effects
Interesting idea
Shall I compare thee to a Michael Bay?
@@kwanarchive Severely underrated comment. I literally lol’d 😂
"If movies were cocaine, that would be Michel Bey...🤣
Best description I've heard!
OMG! I was dying hearing Eddie talk about the video... cuz I knew what was coming. He did not disappoint. The childish giddy when he initially saw Mr K rolling down the hall was the best.
You also should do Stan Lee versus Jim Henson
People always sleep on him but Mel Brooks is without a doubt my favorite director. Doesn't matter what movie it is,he can always make me laugh. He has an absolute gift of taking serious things and finding the humor in them
The smile that crept across my face when he talks about loving Kubrick and Tarantino couldn't be bigger
Please, do Babe Ruth vs Lance Armstrong. Ruth's Second Verse is probably the most acidic one in all of ERB!
Fun Fact: The ending to AI is the one Kubrick intended it to have and was not something Spielberg came up with.
Also, Micheal Bay is an absolutely amazing director with a keen eye for visuals. Does he make instant classic think pieces? No, but that doesn't make his movies bad. They are wonderfully fun to watch.
can you do Steve jobs and Bill Gates theres a movie Cameo i think you'd die for
“Try to Duel with me Alfred…”
Duel was the first movie Spielberg was ever directed. Very underrated you should watch it.
Eddie, I figured out why I like you so much. You’re the me that got happy. Really smart kid in shitty situation that dabbled in the depths, found a bottom, and got on the elevator back up instead of continuing to spiral.
You just drop REAL shit reacting to comedy rap videos, and genuinely care about the community you’re beginning to foster.
Imma join the discord. This shit is healthy.
I appreciate you Fam
Didn't help that Jurassic Park had to deal with weather issues, so they couldn't film Sam's death scene. It added to the suspense, but yeah...
Even though Michael Bay got his start on those Got Milk ads, Kubrick did a vastly better job of promoting milk in the amazing milkbar scenes in A Clockwork Orange.
I love seeing someone recognize (as well as appreciate or even know about) Kubrick. So many people shrug their way thru his verse and don't get any of it.
Oh my god, when Eddie starts naming his favorite directors I started to suspect him of cheating on this video! 😂 It was just too perfect.
AH-HA I've been waiting to see you do this one, this is one of my favorite ERBs :D, also that reaction to Michael Bay absolutely priceless
Close Encounters wasn’t about an alien invasion. It was about the government trying to make contact with aliens who have abducted people in the past. There’s a famous scene where they play music and the alien ship responds
In Steven Spielberg's verse, so many movies were named, it's honestly great...
Duel
Psycho
Jaws
Lifeboat
Always
Vertigo
The terminal
Murder!
Well, the reason why Michael Bay is so popular in my opinion is mentioned in his rap: "I give people what they want..."
When you go see Bay you know you can just sit back and relax high-octane action, fast chases and fiery gun fights without the need to start analysing that was the car chase metaphore for how the protagonist cannot flee from their past because there is always someone trying to stop them or was all the missed shots in the final fight and allegory to all the changes protagonist had in life but didn't take.
You get 100% honest unapologetic carnage that helps you to switch off your brains and destress till the next movie of the same kind comes out.
I am glad that someone else actually appreciates Kubric. A lot of people didn't talk well about him when reacting to this, apparently they didn't appreciate his methods. But I think he is a legit genius because he had a way to affect everything and everyone (including actors) to get the feelings he wanted from them. Now if that is morally correct is another story (it's not but a geniuses usually do not practice safe methods)
I'm sad not one of my reactors I watched have gotten the 'Dual with me' line.
Dual is an early SS movie about a dude who passes an 18 wheeler truck on a mountainous long windy road and for the rest of his journey he's hunted and haunted by it.
You never see the other driver and it's one of the most suspenseful movies I've ever seen.
ditto
I know the... movie? Short film? But I keep forgetting that is what it is called.
duel 1971 vroom vroom
So happy to see Eddie excited to see his favorite director and all the runner ups participate in this battle. His facial expressions are so nice to watch.
Thor vs Zeus.. Best ERB imo.. Gods besides me battling it out in an Epic Rap Battle..
You again, with the “besides me” comment, it caught me off guard again😂
yes, i agree. a very savage battle
Very good indeed but the newer ERB's are even better. (Each year they did become better.)
I'd love if they did a John Williams vs Hans Zimmer
Michael’s line about not reading reviews while working on the sequel refers to his working on the Transformers sequels and not reading the reviews of the previous movie.
I love the level of salt at the end there XD.
Things that demonstrate the Spielberg touch in my opinion: In Duel and Jaws, the main character lets out a primal yell when he succeeds. That tells the audience a lot more than any dialogue would in that moment and it FEELS very satisfying too. In Jaws. a slight twitch of fishing line somehow generates immediate suspense and tension. In Jurassic Park, it is ripples in a glass of water that does the same thing. These are the kinds of small, simple details that make big contributions in his movies. In Close Encounters, notice how he uses headlights approaching behind Roy's truck to set up a big reveal. He really understands the 'show, don't tell' rule and realizes you don't have to always be heavy handed when showing the audience something.
Most reactors I've seen usually miss the Duel movie reference in Spielberg's bars.
So glad you’re doing this one. As a film major this one is my favorite !
That pure excitement for Kubrick was so heartwarming. Also, I really laughed hard when I saw the reaction foreshadowing Michael Bay!
There are numerous analyses of the Moon landing video that point out that it was simply impossible to film it on Earth. The technology didn’t exist. It was easier to actually go to the Moon as weird as that sounds
08:38 "I didn't think Michael Bay was gonna make an appearance"
21:48 "Michael Bay... Oh my god, I hope it's not foreshadowing"
33:29 That's a man who has been betrayed by life in the worst way
Also, as much as I love Tarantino, his disses were, in my opinion, the weakest of the bunch. It always seemed to me as a wasted opportunity. Apart from that, this is one of the greatest ERBs ever. Easily one of my top 5.
P.S.: Lots of respect for "The Rock". It should have been Sean Connery last movie and it would have ended his career in a high point (the story of how he came to be on "League of Extraordinary Gentemen" is... heartbreaking... almost as much as the movie was to Alan Moore fans).
The term blockbuster was coined because of "Jaws" because of how long the lines were to see the movie. "Jaws" was the first blockbuster movie.
The "kiss my full moon" line is because Spielberg tried to meet Hitchcock (I think he went to his house uninvited) and was denied by Alfred.
Funny enough, Stephen King hates Stanley's adaption of the Shining because it deviated so much from the book.
The actress in "The Birds" turned Hitchcock down when he tried to sleep with her and he terrorized her during the filming and blackballed her career afterward by keeping her under contract but not releasing any movies for her to star in
Awesome. A UA-camr going for Kubrick as his director pick before the battle even mentions him. Most don't recognize him during ERB battle either.
That’s sad
when mike came in i got hype like he did for stan. u said he aint in the conversation meanwhile every1 in the battle took a shot at him, they spoke him into the battle lol. i like to think mb wasnt in the battle at first, then everyone dissed him so hes like “y yall gotta roast me? im just tryna count my money” prolly minding his own business. might have been a last minute thing that he flew in the battle. notice how he didnt diss any1 directly. just my opinion and theory tho lol
I found your channel doing a random search and with this rap battle specifically, I saw Michael Bay films without even knowing that they were and I've noticed that he's known for 3 things that are in all of his movies. Slow motion, explosions, and explosions in slow motion
I'd say Michael Bay is the McDonalds of films cause both his films and McDonalds are colorful and attract kids.
This is so awesome! I just found your ERB play list yesterday and was thinking I can't wait till you do this one and here it is. Great job as always.
Literally laughed out loud the moment you mentioned Kubrick. AND THEN YOU MENTION TARANTINO AND I LOST IT.
The happiness in his face when he got that Kubrik would be there, it has no price. xD
I love seeing actually happy people :)
The most accurate part of this rap battle was Bay's verse. Him rhyming money with money multiple times is a very accurate portrayal of him as a director...it's not good lyrics (or art), but it sounds good (looks good) and people like it. That's all he cares about LOL.
Funny thing, for the longest time the actor for Kubrick was not credited and the credits in the description just read “Stanley Kubrick”
Interesting fact about John Williams - he contested with himself for Oscar. 11 times.
Duel was a Spielberg movie in 1971.
Car and 18 wheeler movie. Fun fact. The release overseas, you could see Spielberg in the backseat because of the film format.
BROOOOO HOW DO YOU KNOW EVERYONE. Like most reactors have no clue who any of these guys are your like that guy who knows everything but isn’t cocky LOVE YOU
Movie history is my jam
@@TeacherEddieHistory How do you not know Duel? Spielberg's first professional directorial. You should definitely check it out.
@@platinumspider7859 I know duel and saw it 40 years ago
@@TeacherEddieHistory Oh sorry, You didn't remark on it at all on the reaction. Nobody catches it in this ERB.
Loved seeing you nerd out to this, I even learnt about all the directors.
One of the reasons to like this channels; always learning something new.
Michael Bay gets a lot of hate, but his utilization of CGI is near unmatched. I mean seriously, the Transformers movies still hold up really damn well
"you are going to see Dwayne The Rock Johnson, and he dies" oh so like Doom
28:30 not only them, Uma Thurman had a pretty bad accident filming one of the kill bill movies, and that was because tarantino kinda made her take do it even though she wasnt confident she could pull it off. he got his shot, she got a lifelong spine injury.
Not sure what was better... the dumbfounded look you had while Michael Bay was rapping or the excited squeal you did when you realised Kubrick was coming on!
This was soooo funny! At the beginning, he's talking about which directors are better, so he starts naming them, not knowing he's foreshadowing who's going to be coming in, then he begins to realize when he says he hopes he isn't foreshadowing. And when the director he hates the most shows up, you can see the defeat wash over him. You can practically see the soul leaving his body.
I have to say that I appreciate your break downs for the history behind each battle. I try to make it a point to watch you every time you post even if I am not a fan of the content for that day. Keep up the hard work.
Megan Fox is a pretty decent actress when she's not working with Michael Bay. Also, a lot more was going on with the development of AI than that. In the first Spider-man movie with Toby Maguire, there's a scene where Peter/Spider-man catches a food tray in a cafeteria, and then catches all the food on it as well. They didn't use CGI, it was a practical effect that took 156 takes to get right.
I'd love to hear your reaction to James Bond vs. Austin Powers
That would be amazing, let's see it!
trike: appears
*happy teacher eddie noises*
Billy Friedkin was another director who tended to push the actors further than they ever intended. In the Exorcist, he had the SFX guy hook up a harness to Ellen Burstyn's back, so when Regan slapped her, they YANKED her completely off her feet, injuring her back. She was furious that they would use that moment to pan in close to her, showing how much pain she was actually in.
They also did it with the real Priest who played Father Dyer (William O'Malley) at the end of the movie. Since he wasn't an actor, he couldn't get the bit when he was delivering last rites to Father Karras. Billy slapped him without warning, and so in that final scene, Dyer's shaking hands are due to being slapped.
Teacher Eddie brings up Kubrick and Tarantino before they appear plus basically says what Bay's verse says. Either he's seen this or he can predict the future.
He’s a Movie Buff - he makes a lot of references so it makes sense that he would know what’s coming.
yea it was just logical with all the Bay references
Him: Please dont be foreshadowing
Me: Oh you are gonna be pissed here soon
I was very excited when I realized this video was 40 minutes long.
Jaws influenced people like how War of the Worlds radio cast did. Because of how much it scared people, sharks were being killed in large amounts.
My mom saw it as a teen. Still won't get in water deeper than a bathtub
It was funny watching you slowly name calling all the directors that were going to eventually jump in this battle.
You should react to The Lonely Island Jack Sparrow ft. Michael Bolton. It's a great song and has a few movie references.
Really don't understand the bay hate. He makes some of the most jaw dropping and entertaining action movies out there. He pushes the boundaries of what's possible on a technical level
Spielberg references Duel(Duel was Steven Spielberg's first film, shot for a mini series spot for TV)
“Always on top of my game” “ Always” another Spielberg title
One of the bad ones
17:55 You mean like they did with Bryan Cranston in Godzilla? xD
the 'next time i visit' line was a reference to the fact that Spielberg wanted to meet Hitchcock his whole life, but Alfred turned down the chance to meet him.
And notice how the characters actually NOD when Kubrick says he's the only genius.
Nice, this is probably one of my Favorite ERB's can't wait for what's next
don’t apologize for long videos, i watch you during my workouts and you make it fly by. MORE LONG VIDEOS
I appreciate that, love!
33:17 If you look closely you can pinpoint the precise moment his heart breaks
I did not know that Jaws was that old, I always thought that it was like an 80s or 90s movie
Hitchcock started making movie in the late 20's. Close Encounters came out in 1977.
I love your reaction to Kubrick showing up on the rap lol, and I love how Michael Bay's lines Is just him talking about money. Lol
and yet his net worth is like 10% of Spielberg's. one of the problems with these multi-character ERBs is that none of the previous rappers get a chance for rebuttal.
Love the fact that he explains everything instead of sitting there and fake laughing like the other "reactors"
One note on Bay: Bad Boys and Bad Boys II were great. That reminds me, time to buy Bad Boys For Life on iTunes. Well, as soon as I finish this.
Glad to hear of your love for Dr. Strangelove. It's one of my favorite movies of all time!
The thing about killing off the main character early. The show "Big Sky". Main billed actor Ryan Phillipe got killed off in the first episode and they still use him as visual bait. Really pissed me off. I absolutely loved him in Shooter the TV show.
John Williams has no less than 28 academy awards. That alone is a hell of a flex.
