Nice breakdown as always, definitely learned a lot of stuff that I didn’t know
Glad to hear it!
Agreed, awesome channel. And a lot of things to learn.
@@TeacherEddieHistory Michael Jackson won
@@KapilSingh-f6dElvis cooked him
Speaking of the Coke-Pepsi rivalry. I’ve heard that when the first Coke factory opened in Georgia (the country, not the state), it was a huge deal for the country . President Shevardnadze took the first bottle from the conveyor line in front of cameras, tasted it, and said, “Tastes just like Pepsi”
My favorite story from the cola wars was Tab Clear vs Crystal Pepsi. Look it up if you haven't heard of it, pretty funny ruthless marketing by Coke.
Pepsi definitely escalated the cola wars when they had the 6th largest navy in the world
No wonder they kicked him out later.
My dad had vitiligo and his arms and hands were olive normally but had patches of pure white like he had spilled paint on his hands and he wanted to be a chef but was fired from multiple places because when people saw his hands they complained about him being dirty or unhygenic and always looked at him weird cause of his arms so ive always understood why michael jackson bleached his skin because although i have it also its in hidable places so it doesnt effect how people see me but seeing people look at my dad like a freak or dirty was hard to just see so i cant imagine what its like living with those looks and comments from ignorant people so if michael did have it i do understand wanting to look "normal"instead of being criticised and shunned
I am sorry for that.. weuse to help each other back then not hurt. Even after a dance battle we still hung the people, and yes I was one of them that battle danced as a girl and i won more than i lost.
No MJ DIDNT BLEACHED HIS SKIN he may have used benoquin in his later years but its a legal treament for vitiligo. He didnt bleached
Sounds like your father was discriminated for his color. It’s illegal. He could have sued. There’s EEOC, but they don’t help white people. I think it’s white people with fair skin. There’s a lot of weirdos out there.
Michael said “platinum on Blu-Ray,” which is a reference to the Blu-Ray “This Is It,” which released shortly after his death. It was about him, his life, and death, and went platinum because it’s him.
Oh, for Michael Jackson and Blanket, the balcony moment was an homage to Simba, from The Lion King. Sure, it was kinda dangerous, especially when he fumbled a bit, but it was a clever way to “present his son to the world.” It wasn’t well received, especially since The Lion King movie was 8 years old at the time, and Blanket did nearly fall.
@@Bobal27 why would it be well-received in general regardless, lol?
@@Invictus-Solaris Have you seen Tik-Tok? An homage like that would go viral in today’s culture.
@@Bobal27 lol ghis is it is MJs project
@@alecocothunder8277 Fixed, pending further research.
I have another request for the next ERB. For 80s - 90s childhood.
Mr. T VS Mr. Rogers
I like it fine, but I think it is one of the weaker ERB episodes -- mostly because it was really early, and they were still trying to figure out how to do character. It seemed to me like they thought their schtick was making unexpected people sound like ruthless gangsta rappers, and that just did not work with Mr Rogers. It's something they did much better later on with Bob Ross and Jim Henson.
Michael did not invent the Moonwalk, he popularized it by doing it during one of his concerts while singing Billie Jean. The earliest footage of someone doing it is from 1983 with Bill Bailey and it was called the backslide then, also Michael learned it from Jeffery Daniel.
Haven't had one of these in a while. 44 minutes? Madman. Thanks for the content! I love ERB breakdowns.
Wasn’t excepting this awesome ERB reaction but loved every second of it.
( It’s one if my favourites ).
Also obviously glad to have you back again.
Hey Teach! Happy to have ya back!
Happy to be back and this was a perfect one to come back to
I remember watching this all the way back in like 2011 or 2012 and randomly doing ERB binges you can see so much more from when I was a child to an adult it’s really crazy to see how deep these really were. As a child I just thought they were really funny and entertaining to growing up and knowing how well developed they really make these.
Mj's song "bad" was actually suppose to be a song battle between mj and prince over who was the baddest
There is a video out there of Lisa Marie saying that MJ would randomly say things like "I can't believe I'm _____ Elvis's daughter." So I don't know how much of a sham it was for him.
staged
He also said he didn't touch them kids and there is a whole documentary on that
@@suckstoyourazmar there’s rumors the documentary was all bullshit. Too many holes in Safechuck’s story. Haven’t seen it myself, but I know that is what people are saying about it.
@@suckstoyourazmar

Took her to my Neverland Ranch to Hee-Hee
Best line ever
Easily the best breakdown of this video, which is to be expected because your content is great and I get to learn so many things even if they're only tangentially related. I'm glad the Alchemy line is finally being appreciated.
I appreciate that!
25:00 That was MJ's third child, Prince Michael II, known as Blanket. 26:00 As far as I know, Eagles' "Their Greatest Hits" is the best-selling album in the US with 38 million sold. Thriller is the best-selling album worldwide, with a claimed sales number of over 70 million.
like ypur reactions, also, not sure if a fun fact, i saw a documentary somewhere that
1. MJ's morphine use/misuse was for managing the pain from the burns from the pepsi commercial
2. the left glove was a cover up for the early stages of his vitiligo condition (according to the same documentary, was lucky as some would lose pigmentation on the face) along with the long sleeves and socks. Considering his status in hollywood then, I think he had his skin bleached when he got tired of the ointments and the paranoia of someone discovering his condition
The morphine use miss use I thought it was because of a back injury he had during the concert one of the lifts came down too fast and you can see him stumble in the concert I heard he passed out afterwards from the pain so I think the morphine use was for that reason and maybe a little bit from the Burns
"I Stole from black culture, why are you offended?" is still one of the best lines in ERB, alongside "No one's dying to play with joker except for maybe heath ledger"
I love the Elvis dance break down. I get the feeling younger generations just don't understand how it was sexual back then as they're judging by today's standards.
Elvis dancing in the 60s is the equivalent to Nicki Minaj Anaconda video, or Lil Nas X Montero (Call me by your name). That's the modern day comparison.
kinda similar to how Rolling Stones were viewed back then when they first came out I guess?
But unlike Nicki Minaj, all the other people are musicians.
I worked in Germany for a semester while in college, and our HR woman (who was kind of my mom at the time, getting me settled in a new country) was a MASSIVE Elvis fan as in literally every CD In her car.
Why? She survived growing up in East Germany and Elvis to her was the symbol of everything "the west" had to offer
I literally listened to more Elvis in 6 months in Ulm, Germany, than in 20+ years in the US.
Now we just need to get a reaction to Zeus vs thor
Actually, the moonwalk was introduced in 1955 By Bill Baily and was called the Baily Glide
Melanin is the pigmentation. Melatonin is a hormone for sleep. Melatonin can actually be sold as a sleep med also.
It can cause some crazy dreams. I had to stop taking it so I could get restful sleep
Melanin name comes from Greek word melani which basically translates to "ink" . And of course not just the synthetic modern ones but also the substance the inks were derived from for milenia, squid ink. The Greek word Melas means black.
I don't know about where you were back then, but in Memphis in the 80's, most of us in High School HATED Elvis music because all we ever saw was the lunacy of his fans on the anniversary of his birth and his death. On the other hand, there was a HUGE rivalry between the fans of Michael Jackson... and the fans of the much edgier, cooler Prince.
Fun fact Michael Jackson actually learned most of his moves watching street dancers outside his hotel one being the Moonwalk which Michael made famous
Fun fact , 78% of fun facts are made up on the spot.
@@ballchinian911 so you’re replying to my comment I made a year ago just to try and say the fact wasn’t true when in actual fact Michael Jackson actually admitted this himself in an interview
Fun fact . I never said it was incorrect.
@@ballchinian911 so why make the comment "fun fact, 78% of fun facts are made up on the spot" if you weren''t trying to say it's incorrect?
Just telling you a "fun fact" about fun facts bro calm down . No I'm scared to tell you 95% of fun facts aren't fun at all . Sorry, I thought u were a fun fact connoisseur. I guess not.
You reckon these battles are just cassette tapes from heaven that were dropped on ERB's doorstep with a note saying: "Some more dead guys started arguing in rhythm, make a video with these notes"?
Michael Jackson: (roasts elvis)
Elvis: (angrily eats burgers)
a friend of mine is a firefighter and EMT, they call Propofol (the drug MJ overdosed on) "Jackson-Ex".
The Thriller or The Beat It woulda been more clever
Speaking of Micheal and Latoya, he told her her voice was annoying and that she sounded like Carol Bernett
Hey Eddie! Thought I would recommend breaking down the song lyrics for American pie! Most people know the song, but kid’s especially don’t really know the significance behind the song. (That being a plane crash in 1959 that killed Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J. P. Richardson, who were famous rock and roll musicians)
ua-cam.com/video/Ihhj6Pr8hYE/v-deo.html
This was always my favorite battle. The only one that even comes close is James Bond versus Austin Powers
I would love to see your reaction or commentary to Disney+ Hamilton. I learnt so much about the American revolution and started to appreciate rap from that musical. I've watched a few reactions but never a teachers, and you seem to really love your history.
DAMN! That Kid is spitting fire! "Call Me ED SULLIVAN!"
But damn Bro, I LITERALLY had the same reaction along with You when EP dropped that line about "stealing from Black Culture, why are You offended?"
🤯🤣😳🤣🤣😝
-Alex from Aus
really unbiased thank u!😭 somehow I wanna cry watching this lol
Looked at the ERB Playlist and I don't see The Burger King VS Ronald McDonald, that is probably my personal favorite. I think worth watching for sure.
Thanks man i really enjoy when you comment on ERB videos
So glad to see you back
I had the jacket from Beat it and the one from Thriller. Loved it.
One of my favourite ERB's and you definitely did it justice! Love how they get the different stages of them both and so many savage bars, it's great. Never clicked about the "lost your mind.." relating to the scarecrow in The Whizz, good catch! June 14th, you doing a live reaction to the new ERB coming out? Stay safe
The why are you offended/alchemy lines are in my opinion, the hardest hitting lines in all of ERB.
I love your breakdowns, It helps a lot since history is my Achilles' heel.
Elvis ONLY dated girls 15 years old and younger, so him hitting Michael with pedo jokes is hella ironic.
South park made a Michael Jackson episode that's pretty good and surprisingly accurate in spots
Haha, you said "spots", like with vitiligo... I'll get my coat.
I think I’ve heard that after Elvis’s concerts people wouldn’t leave since they expected him to come back and sing one more song. So eventually they started saying “Elvis has left the building” to let people know they could leave
No use crying over spilled water! Welcome back.
Yeah kids, Mtv stands for Music TV, once upon a time, was a channel that shown music videos.
Eddie, the man who doesn’t like to remember the dates of historic events, knows the date that Elvis died. Funny imo. Great video as always Eddie!!!
I was a huge mark for Elvis since I was a kid
Congrats on getting a new computer!!!!!
Yes!! Finally I've been waiting for this. I knew you'd love this
I love it!
You should do Master Chief vs King Leonitus, it’s one of my favorites!
I gotta give MJ the win here, though they both certainly tried their hardest.
It's a long one, but I'd be interested in seeing your thoughts on a fan made documentary called loving Neverland
I remember the Blanket balcony incident when it first blew up and I was 9 at the time
I learn more from you than i ever did in school. Amazing stuff!
Was wondering if you can react to what’s underneath a type 6 civilization? And as always love your ERB breakdowns
I didn't know half this stuff damn I love this mans knowledge u got a new subscriber, gotta love how elvis said yea shit happened to me idc
To paraphrase J. M. Barrie's "Peter and Wendy": All children, except two, grow up. Michael Jackson really never grew up because his father made him a product. Thus _Neverland_ for him, too.
If think you about it, that is the right thing to say.
I just find it funny how i have seen a good few reactions to this and i think your the only one to stop and recognize how savage and amazing the line about alchemy was, most people sorta got the first one usually about the stole from black culture but then totally miss or gloss over the gold records line which made me bust up the first time i heard it, and no one seemed to get it. Though i guess just knowing the history of both of them means alot more to how much you can enjoy these. Which your all about. im the weirdo that knows random stuff about famous people and events i cant even tell you where i learned it, because i remember the facts and i knew his father was abusive and forced them to be singers so that line caught me off guard and because i knew what alchemy was as well i nearly cried from laughter.
I was a total geek in Jr High School. I took a dark knit glove and put a ton of those mini staples in it to make my own MJ glove. I was definitely being campy and ironic with it, but I was having fun.
I had the thriller action figure and the glove
Gotta jump on that Stan Lee vs Jim Henson next 🔥🔥
You rock Teach!
Man, look at that fancy vanity url for the discord. Also yeah melatonin is the sleepy one. I am not a big fan of MJ personally but seeing you lose it at the jokes in videos like this makes me happy and that's why I am here so keep on making the long videos Eddie. (Especially if I suggest them)
i was waiting for this.
Both Elvis and Michael are iconic and both won. Madonna is definitely the third part of that iconic trio so i wonder if they ever make a rap battle about her.
Bill Bailey at The Apollo Theatre - New York - in 1955 did the "Moon Walk" as part of his routine
In reference to the "Free Willy" line, that's a double meaning as well, as the Michael Jackson single "Will You Be There" was licensed to it and ultimately became the theme and tonal setting of the film and one of the reasons it performed so well in the Box Office. Then after its popularity built off the movie, Michael did a tie-in music video release for the song featuring footage from it. The score for the film, mostly due to the inclusion of Michael's single setting the tone so well, was a record-smashing 96% positivity rating. The popularity of the movie and song together launched a series of successful awareness and donation campaigns for saving and advocating for the treatment of Orca whales.
Love ur laugh very infectious
"Just think, nobody thought this would last!" The marriage lasted only 20 months lol
I loved when his nose flew off that one time hilarious
Actually MTV was there when MJ came out but they didn’t take black artists because they called themselves a ‘rock’ channel. But then MJ got so popular after Off the Wall, they couldn’t ignore him. He was the first black artist to be featured on MTV after billie jean, which laid the path for other black artists to enter the mainstream. MTV’s saw it’s ratings shoot up as people would tune in to watch him and his videos.
Also MJ was with plenty of chicks - in public, plenty of footage of that too. Stephanie Mills, Brooke Shields, that Indian woman he was seeing before Presley, one of his stylists after Presley, the list goes on & all online. But the mainstream media turned a blind eye to all that sh!t.
That stage moment with Presley was real cringy though. They should’ve have! Ugh
But they went out (too many pictures online) for years after they divorced too.
The media pretty much killed him like you said.,
The lemonade references were about Elvis the whole time?
Awesome reaction, class act - no surprise here.
(Still quietly hope to see Che vs Guy).
The only one in his family (I might be wrong on this) that loved Michael was his mom then later his three children 1Prince 2 Paris 3 Blanket
The "Free Willy" line was because MJJ Studios, owned by Michael Jackson, produced the music for the movie.
the little black kid you see at the beginning is bentley green. he's still on youtube
Hey Eddie hope your doing better!
as another comment said when he said i go platinum on blu-ray he meant his bio movie this is it went platinum after his death
Let's be honest everyone knows Billy Ocean did the first Moon Walk 🤣🤣🤣... Love the reactions Teach!! Keep it up boss!
the 1 for your monkey 2 for your clothes 3 for your family 4 for your nose elvis kind checks those boxes as well 1. elvis had a pet monkey as well 2. he did have some weird clothes 3. elvis also had a weird family as well 4. i don't know if elvis had any surgeries but yes he checks 3 of those boxes
"I stole from black culture, why are you offended?" Is one of my favorite ERB lines
It's almost as hard to pick a winner after watching as it is to pick a favorite before you watch.
Dude, no worries, literally _everybody_ wanted the red leather jacket from Beat It. That jacket is just straight-up fucking dope.
Sometime back around 2009, a buddy of mine ordered one online from China. The only problem though? There were apparently differences in clothing sizes between large Americans and large Chinese. So my buddy, a big dude, gets the jacket... and it doesn't fit him at all. But there I am, a small kinda guy (internet, lay off; I'm an older guy now, not "submissive and breedable" lol), and I could totally fit the jacket.
I didn't get to keep it, but I did wear it for a while and got laid because of it more than once at a couple of shows. Shit was awesome.
Don’t forget my suggestion: Thomas Jefferson vs Frederic Douglas.
You can imagine what will be the main topic of the battle...
You did miss one though when elvis talks about free your willy.... when he said dont try to hold me and free your willy is that the one song in the movie is "Will You be There" by Michael Jackson which has Hold me in the lyrics really great song as well
Plus, Teddy Riley sampled his human nature track for SWV's remix, which also showed up on the free willy album.
About michaels skin it is true he really had that skin condition it's on his paperwork from the morg.
You know why Jackson was always holding his crouch when he danced because he was trying to see his balls had dropped yet.
After this one, it'd be appropriate to do Frank Sinatra vs Freddie Mercury next. Another good "musical" battle.
I didn't understood the bids and bees line. Could you please explain that a bit further?
'The birds and bees' is a phrase usually used when talking about sexual intercourse.
Ironically Bill Bailey was the first to do a version of the moonwalk, Michael then adopted and proliferated it.
The one with the hardest hits will always win against the one with the better flow in a rap battle, so long as the delivery is good.
Nobody:
Indian thriller: Girly man man man

Love your videos and even though sometimes i catch them kinda late. Great breakdown. I am once again going to suggest you listen to some music by YUNGBLUD. Some suggestions i would give are "parents" "polygraph eyes" "tongue tied" "Anarchist" or "11 minutes". You are a super smart dude and would really like to see your breakdown and opinion in some of the insane stuff he very bluntly covers in his music
Edit: im not the type to pressure but I really identify with his music and i really love your opinions and they help me feel less alone in my head when i feel like someone gets me.
SMOKE DETECTOR
The artist with the most number one hits is probaby Capital Bra. A german rapper who has 22 number one hits.
Bro, no one listens to German rap, not even Germans.
It's a bit late, but Jackson actually does have the most PLATINUM RECORDS...I believe the reference in the line is to "Records" that Elvis "Set" or created, though it is a very sly way to score a point...great breakdown though as always, just found the channel recently, and I love when people with a thorough background react to stuff (Knox Hill is another one of the greats if you haven't checked him out)...I also love how you bring your son on from time to time to help and you get the opportunity to teach him...Keep doing what ya do!
Can't wait for the ed Sullivan line
Neverland Ranch is referring to the amusement park that MJ created
Oh, yes. That wonderful childhood era where Elvis Presley was still singing and The Jackson 5 and the Osmonds were on the charts. Buddy Holly had to fight to do rock and roll, according to the documentary on him I watched some years ago. The music at the time was country. "While no individual can be said to have invented rock and roll, Chuck Berry comes the closest of any single figure to being the one who put all the essential pieces together." And from there, it took off and went genre crazy. Even when "the music died," rock and roll continued.
🎶🎵welcome back🎶🎵
Great return.
Damn! Elvis came back so HARD!
Also Alchemy video.
Michael has the funniest bars I've heard on ERB. Tee-hee-hee. 😆🤣
Also the Beats!
I hope the crew got bonuses, they deserve them
My stepdad watched Elvis stumble through about twenty takes of two lines at a movie shoot near Venice Beach. He said he was just terrible.
Little Michael was the ⭐.
Congrats again early for the 100K.
The kid is not named blanket. That was his nickname. the kids name is Prince Michael Jackson II
