Looking at the Very Fire kit it looks like a greatly reengineered older Trumpeter 1/350 USS Missouri kit from the mid 1990s. Lots of similarities but a great more detail than the old kit. I will buy it soon.
A great and clearly explained review..Ships are not really my thing but I enjoyed this review and learnt a few things..Thank you Mike and look forward to more reviews.!
Good video,my Missouri build in 1985 old version, time ago l built a modern Missouri tamiya kit, Yesterday arrived to my, Wisconsin & Montana by Very Fire.l Hope well kit.hi
Was this the standard or DX version? I wanna know if the standard version has the railings and catapults in PE. Otherwise I'm sold thanks to your review.
I wish REVIEWERS would list mention the actual kit number. Is this the standard or deluxe kit ? ( Maybe when reviewed there was only one version ) Otherwise a good review
Oddly I just purchased this kit for $40 on eBay from a seller in Hong Kong. I’m not seeing it sold or is on back order which leads me to believe it’s either discounted or being retooled.
you've sold me, when i can, i'll be getting this kit, can you tell me if the photo-etch sheets aren't required for anything, i've never worked with PE before so i'd rather not use it. Thank you
Hi The kit has a complete photoetch sheet. If you go to my website my old scale modeling books are free to download in PDF format. Lots of good tips and techniques for working with photoetch. Www.mikeashey.com
I don’t think I was bashing the Tamiya kit I just said that the very fire kit is a step up from the Tamiya kit And if you look at my other UA-cam videos you will see my build of the Tamiya kit and my tape up review of the kit
@@scalemodeling Nothing personal Mike I enjoy your Channel.I built Tamiya Armor for many years and they stayed way ahead till dragon arrived. If you compare Trumpeters Indianapolis to Academy's then the fight is on.They came out very close to each other. On the other hand no ones put out a 1/350 since Tamiya that's not outright trash. So there's nothing to compare it to but the Tamiya kit.Double edged sword so to speak.I started in 62 so like you we can remember what was and what's new.Theres no comparison but look how much they are.I miss the Hobby Shops very badly.
to tell the truth I don't see much difference between the tamiya and very fire kit, because the tamiya kit is already 35 years old and still at a very good level, complementing it with photoetch like the Eduard, Gold Medal Models or white ensign, it remains an excellent finish model.
I really like your idea of tap up of a model kit because it can help wiyh fitting later on . Also I very much enjoy your channel.
Thanks
Tape ups help in so many ways
Best model kit reviews I have seen anywhere. I understand Mike Ashey is a bit of a legend in the plastic modelling world.
Thanks for the compliment. More reviews and some tutorials are coming.
Great review, you should do more! I’ll be picking up their 1/350 USS Cleveland “light” cruiser.
