    Coming back to school after 10 years of doing a lot of pop/wedding/ship tunes.
    Listening to this was a big help now that I’m back with an ensamble doing more advanced tunes 😅. (Awesome Tom sound, I am going to snag those heads here soon 😂)

    You're on absolute fire here :) Great performances all around and it's especially impressive that you're able to keep the nuances delicate on the rim and hat at the start at such a fast tempo. Well done!

      Thanks for watching and for the question! I’m using a 20” Zildjian Kerope on the right and a 20” Zildjian K Constantinople Flat Ride on the left. I’m also using mixed 14” hi-hats, Top: K Constantinople, Bottom: K Custom Dry. Here's a link to a page with more info about the gear I use: jazzdrumschool.com/drum-room Keep swinging my friend 🤙

      @@jazzdrumschool Hi Von! So, you're playing with two rides? No crash cymbal?

    • @jazzdrumschool
      @jazzdrumschool  3 дні тому

      Miguel sorry for the delay! Today I just figured out how to filter my comments so I can see new replies I haven't yet responded to. Can't believe it took me this long to figure it out 🤪
      Yes sir, I always play with 2 rides. They give me so many options for playing time and crashing to accentuate the music. This is very common in Jazz drumming but not so much in other styles where crash cymbals and effect cymbals are used more.
      The reason is that Jazz drumming is top down. Groove comes from the ride cymbals and hi-hat rather than the bass drum and snare drum. I hope all this helps and I hope all is swinging in your world my friend 🤙
