    I am an immigrant living in Calgary but I swear I miss Toronto from my heart. It is the greatest and most beautiful city on Earth. Lived there for 4 years and miss it. There is nothing you cannot do in TORONTO.

      OK. So, which is the more beautiful city, Toronto or Vancouver?

      @115136604409861808517 I gotta be honest here. Yes Vancouver is definitely a super stylist city and in my eyes not only the best looking city of Canada, but surely of North America. Its one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Having said that, Toronto is much more fun. There are way more things to do in Toronto Area, way more jobs as well. I would choose Toronto as the best cities among the famous big cities in the world. Yeah, it beats Chicago, New York, LA, London, Paris , Sydney and Tokyo in terms of livability and its also a big city/metropolitan. I would definitely spend a vacation in Vancouver Area, including the Vancouver Islands, but I would choose to live in Toronto.

      Have you ever lived in Japan though? I think it's a lot more livable in Japan. Sure, the apartments are super small and expensive in Tokyo, but there are other big cities in Japan, and even if you have to live in a small place, it seems like life is more worth living in Japan than in Canada, unless you have a good job in Canada. I'd rather be a little poor in Japan than in Canada. Toronto's getting expensive too. It's difficult to find a place to live there. I do agree that there's a lot to do there though. I also like the work ethic more than Vancouver's. It seems like in Vancouver everyone's trying to get away with as much as possible instead of just doing their job. There are a lot of whiners in Vancouver. Too much time in the coffee shops complaining about the world, the government, parents, etc.

    As an good old european 🤣 it is really impressive for me....but BUT.... BUUUUT....I miss the history of the city. I grew up in a 2000 year old small german town of 35 000 and find history everywhere and this big canadian city seems not even treat the smallest part of ist young but important history as something precious.

    • @Skyfoogle
      @Skyfoogle 5 років тому +1

      new world cities experienced rapid growth and thus buildings were demolished and replaced before they got a chance to be viewed as historical or significant. if you wanted to clear room for office building in 1920, you wouldn't see old lowrises from 1900 as historical or precious.

      It's 2019, Toronto was just getting Started 2011. I knew Yonge St was going to get a face lift, every block is coming Down from Bloor to Queen st. To put up new buildings. By 2024, Yonge St will look like Bay St with all the new high-rise's. I have to say it'll be a lot better than 1990's Yonge St that was littered with Bargain & Dollar store's and take out fast food restaurants. [Sad when they tore down the Cineplex at the Eaton's Center and Sam the record man when out of business.] I hear they're going to restore the sign, wonder if it'll go up at Dundas Square.

But back then it said "Municipality of Metropolitan Toronto"

    @pacman3556 Рік тому +1

    The population of Toronto is about 3 million today. 10 years ago when this video was uploaded it was only about 2 million. Population of Greater Toronto is now around 6-8 million but that covers a much larger area then extending from Mississuaga in the west (maybe into Oakville) to at Pickering Ajax (and probably into Oshawa) in the East. And into at least Markham in the north. The 6 to 8 million people are spread out much further area than the pics in this video
    In fact the pics in this video only really shows downtown Toronto which would be maybe 750K people. The remaining 2.25 million people are in the other 5 boroughs of Toronto.

    I don't know what's up with the argument below about Toronto's population, city proper is 2,615,060 the GTA is 5,583,064 the newer GTHA (metrolinx term) is 6,574,140 and the Inner Golden Horseshoe (closest thing around to a US-CMA) is 8,759,312 people. Was the Stats Canada website really that hard to find. To compare with New York, City proper would equate to Manhatten (sort of), GTA would be the 5 boroughs, GHTA would be metro, and IGH would be the tri-state equivalent.

    Wake up people too many historical buildings are being allowed to be demolished by foreign developers that do no need to have civic pride , it is not their country .Yes the historic buildings that are being torn down, are private property ,but it is becoming too much.The city argues that , construction jobs create well paying employment and manufacturers sell plenty of construction materials.Also the city collects a fortune in property tax. But it is ,so sad.

    Canada is richer than Saudi Arabia if you check GDP per capita at PPP, UAE might be slightly richer.The buildings Saudis make using Indian and Bangladeshi workers would cost double here in Toronto,because construction workers are highly paid,min wage is too high.In Saudis they do not even pay those poor workers properly,buildings have nothing to do with oil.Oil boom will help Alberta,little in Toront,Toronto is diversified focusing on finance, media, retail, telecom,medical,research,fashion,etc.
