    Back in 2005 Ebay was the King in corporate internet shopping Website. Now its Amazon because of Amazon's better policy for the Customers rather than the merchants. Ebay still sells a lot of the products we usually buy but Amazon is more protective with its buyers from nock offs. For example I once bought a 100 ugg boots as christmas gift to my sister and when it finally, I opened the box and the boots were beaten up, worn out sneakers. Angry that I've been cheated I tried to contact the seller by phone that I found on his profile, the phone number pay phone. Couldn't even find anything else about this person. This is why Amazon is better than Ebay because you can't get scammed that easily. Amazon has an excellent reputation as Website and also has Customer service. But the Major reason why Amazon is so different for its competitors, is that you can buy directly for them as a buyer. You can buy the product from Amazon or you can buy it for another seller. That why Amazon is ruling over the internet shopping business. Thats why people would rather buy from Amazon than any other place.

      I like Amazon too but they just added sales tax on their items recently where I live and they're lobbying for a federally enforced online sales tax. I use Ebay more because I'm a patient shopper.

      bumboo100 Just The Negatives? Super fast paced. Miles and Miles of walking each day. Super strict on being on time. Your breaks starts as soon as the bell rings, which means the walk away and to your station counts as your break and you better be at your station before that second bell rings or else you'll get cited. 3 citations, i think it was or maybe it was 4, means your fired. If you make too many mistakes you're cited. If you took too long to start working, your cited. There are mandatory overtimes during peak season which means 12.5 hour days sometimes but no second lunch. You got to no matter what reach rate or you will get cited. Rate is the most important thing ever for them. Depending on which position you get, for example Picker, you can't talk to anyone!
      On the bright side, there are a lot of cute girls. People in there are very nice. Some leaders are dicks. I would honestly go back but constantly doing the same thing over and over again 8 thousand time for 12 hours straight drove me a little insane.

      I hate when people say shit like this about my company. I work 40 hours a week, ten hours a day. During peak I work 50. Totally doable. There is NO such thing as a 3 strikes rule in any amazon facility. and no one is tracked by gps. Amazon is an amazing place to work.

      justynjrob900 i work at ONT2. I've been there as a blue badge for 2 years. a written warning falls off after 30 days, given that it is not a final. if in that 30 days you get a second, they will fall off after 60. if in those 60 days a third occurs, that falls off after 90. any written warning in those 90 becomes the final. again , there is no such thing as a 3 strikes rule.

    I worked security at an amazon fulfillment center. It gets bad around the holidays, especially since they will hire almost anybody with two arms and legs. There were always multiple employees trying to steal items from the warehouse. I will tell you what, if amazon employees were as creative with life as they were with scheming to steal, they would have a successful life.

    • @IsaakHunt
      @IsaakHunt 8 років тому

      Were your directly employed by Amazon as security, or do they outsource this?

    • @OLKIEMTB
      @OLKIEMTB 8 років тому

      Amazon contracts out their security. However, they do have internal loss prevention employees. Security answered directly to the Amazon loss prevention team.

    • @IsaakHunt
      @IsaakHunt 8 років тому +3

      That's what I thought. So, I suppose it's the same at every site. When I applied for a job at one of the Amazon sites once, I thought that security and workers in the warehouse somehow were distant and didn't really talk with each other, like you'd usually do with your co-workers. At least to me, it felt like the relationship between prison-guards and inmates, almost - not that I know life in prison first hand, but it somehow felt like that. There certainly was something in the air at that time. I've never witnessed such a strange vibe in a company ever, where almost all human resources guys were a bit too happy, all the faces of the workers told a completely different story, and security really felt like prison staff - not because they were unfriendly to me, but you saw all the other people swiftly scurrying past the guards, not even making eye contact.
      That was somehow eery and scary enough that I was glad that they didn't contact me after my application ever since.
      I guess that's why I'm asking, because it somehow felt like this was part of the system.

    • @OLKIEMTB
      @OLKIEMTB 8 років тому +1

      Some associates were more friendly than others but it's not like we weren't allowed to be friendly with the workers. A lot of guards started to become bitter towards the workers because most workers gave us a hard time for doing our jobs. I'm glad I was able to work there and see it first hand but I'm glad I walked away from it on my own terms. The loss prevention department always had the security personnel under a microscope. If they didn't like you, they would find any little reason to remove you from the site.

    • @IsaakHunt
      @IsaakHunt 8 років тому +2

      Thank you. That's interesting, because you felt the tension there. From my point of view, this all doesn't sound like a direct violation of human rights, but it somehow feels like an oppressive system.
      Some people seem to be able to cope with this, but all over the internet there are reports with really worrying content about the working conditions in this company, all over the world, at every site. I don't think that this is just a PR problem, or that all frustrated ex-worker who got sacked let off some steam. It seems to be more than this.

      I used to work as a delivery driver for a bit (about 2 years ago) and I handled mostly overnight deliveries... Lots of driving and not that many packages. And my vehicle was a Time Traveling Delorean... Sadly the time console was locked out, so I couldn't go to the future and then make money on sports bets.
      No, my vehicle was a full-spec, air-ride seat, long-wheelbase Sprinter Mercedes. And I kid you not, it was one of the most comfortable things I've ever driven and I got 2 Mercedes and a classic 80s BMW grand tourer and that van was still more comfortable! XDThen I became a car salesman. We also have a full spec Sprinter with air-ride seats.
      And no, part of my job is driving cars about, some of them being Rolls Royces. Still beaten by the van.
      Tho it would have been nice if I had a time traveling Delorean.

    I once got a package from amazon in under 24 hours. That's why it pays to go for Prime. People complaining about having to pay more for quicker shipping...well duh. They get so many orders everyday, it makes sense they would have to have a priority system. If you pay for two day shipping, you get it in two days, sometimes quicker. There's nothing unfair about it. Been a Prime member for about two years, and as long as I make sure it has the prime symbol beside it, it's never late.

    This guy was a former military intelligence officer. So, he is taking a huge step down managing a warehouse. It's a one way street to the warehouse. I don't expect for one to get a similar intelligence job later.
    So many people from the military, students that graduated, other industries end up in the warehouse. It's like Amazon is pulling in people. But, this destroys jobs in the rest of society. More importantly, it destroys good job and replaces it with lesser jobs. So, it is better to manage the warehouse than to be a picker or packer. But, it's not comparable to some people's former jobs or what they could be doing with their degree.

    ......and "Ultimately", all of this came to fruition straight to your doorstep by the United States Postal Service, by which none of Amazon's so-called 'Capitalistic Parade" would be possible without. The reporters were very concerned as to not mention anything about the United States Postal Service, especially since it is a top Employer of African Americans. I work for the Postal Service in a little small town of about 70,000 and every morning at around 5AM, I log in the arrival of trucks that bring us hundreds of Amazon packages each and every day. With diligence, and a core of honor, our letter carriers distribute them throughout the communities and neighborhoods throughout America every single day. So without further ado, I would like to Thank all the hard working, over-looked, ridiculed, thankless, unappreciated, diverse army of Postal workers for all that they do.

    I agree. Amazon is the best online store. It's an invaluable online service. I have bought many gifts for people from Amazon over the years & I've been a loyal customer since they started. I'm now wearing a Pedre velvet fabric watch that I bought from Amazon. Practically everyone I know in my area has ordered from Amazon. I do have 1 neighbor & 1 co-worker who have never ordered from Amazon. I think the 1 neighbor ordered from Amazon this week after I talked to her about Xmas gifts I ordered.

    I worked at Amazon for a number of years it is honestly a a pretty bad experience from terribly High work rates to an HR department that doesn't really do anything to help you when I was there last I stayed for two months they assigned me a locker someone decided to bring their own lock and use my locker in 2 months that I was there I would go to HR every single day to ask them to remove the lock from my locker every single day they failed to do so. another thing they did they failed to provide me with student compensation which is where I get a certain amount of time off after my shift to make it to school on time they fail to mention the fact that you have to work there for 90 days before you qualify for it. so in order to attempt to make it to school on time I resorted to using my personal time off as well as unpaid time off to make it to school on time, this was what got me fired because according to them I violated the terms of attendance which makes no sense because had they just provided me with student compensation I would not have resorted to using my personal time off. there are a pile of issues I can address working at a Amazon fulfillment center, they don't care about firing people because they have a constant flow of new people coming in to take the place of anyone who might have left or got fired.

      +Spy Men 2 day shipping starts applying when the items leave the warehouse, that means it will take two days to you once it gets in transit, selecting 2 day shipping doesn´t affect how long it takes them to get the shipment ready, so you actually got it one day earlier than expected.

      Do delivery. It's so much better. You pick up 2 hour blocks up to 8 hours a day max. $18 /hr plus tips on each stop. Usually $10 to 25 an hour in tips. Your car, your gas though, but I spend maybe $10 for 6 hours in my G35, pictured left :D And that's 91 octane, maybe 89 if during price spikes.

      They have and do. The local building here was lit on fire so people could steal and have a distraction. And there was also a used fleshlight found in a bathroom the same year.
      They just installed security cameras recently, but there's still theft.

    • @lsswapeverything2518
      @lsswapeverything2518 9 років тому

      +EineKoshka Yea but amazon takes no losses on theft. Every quarter associates get bonuses it can be up to $800, but each items stolen takes away from the bonus. They have teams that go around scanning bins all day and counting the items that are in each bin..boring job... but you find thefts and such. They also have metal detectors at every exit point that associates must walk through while leaving. If it goes off you get wanded..if they can't find out what is setting it off you basically get a strike if you get 3 strikes you're fired.
      Yes at my fulfillment center they've found many adult toys in the restrooms...the weirdest would be a used dildo in the men's restroom ceiling

    I work for Amazon and it’s HELL especially during peak season around Christmas time. That Amazon warehouse in the video ships smaller items so an associate there is expected to pack a lot more then we do.
    The one where i work we ship larger and heavier items.
    I hurt my shoulder packing 30lb bags of dog food throughout the shift and you’re prolly thinking 1 bag of dog food doesn’t hurt..well we don’t get to choose what we wanna pack. We’re expected to pack at a fast pace or it will hurt our rate. If we continue to pack below the rate we get written up and Amazon wastes no time writing you up they don’t wanna hear why you’re packing slow.
    After 3 write ups you’re fired.
    Majority of us want to pack smaller lightweight items but can’t. We’re lucky we get to pack at least one cage just to give us a break. They’re all about safety comes first but it’s pure bullshit.
    As long as the system has us working on a rate ppl are going to get hurt regardless

    48 hours my ass. Be real ABC. That varies, according to region and state. It also depends on how much you pay. The more you invest, the less time you have to wait for your shit.
    You buy something on the second of the month, you won't get it until the 11th or so. It's funny, how they make it look like a happy, ship sharp company on ABC news. My opinion? Amazon is a great place to buy things you can't get anymore, like a Sega Genesis or something. The ship date, and delivery date are estimates, and ABC makes Amazon look like a Wal Mart commercial. Millions of orders huh... Don't pull that 48 hour crap with me ABC. How about telling the truth! I was fine with the video until the end of it. 48 hours? Just Dance 4!? Fools.
