Yes its a gift to be there and experience their amazing talent. Fortunately I live with two amazing world class singers and yes a singing dog, myself I fancy myself just backing up the dog.
She plays with others so nicely when young she must have been a hit with the other kids as she is now. She is an old soul that has a sense of child's playful creativity in her musical performances. I love that her playing using guitars have an organic look and sound. This concert makes my day, thanks!
I went to a Glenn Hansard's show almost 10 years ago in the BBK Live festival in Bilbao. A galician band (Escuchando elefantes) opened the show and also played some songs with him. I still have the ticket, it was such an amazing performance... I hope I can see Lisa live someday.
Wow, beautiful voices, I followed her after her singing with damie.n rice and then him after watching the film once. Love them and together what a bonus❤️
Always felt a certain contempt for so-called fans. Today I bow to a reality, I am a fan. I feel my soul connected to these two people, Glen Hansard and Lisa Hannigan. I love them deeply as if we had grown up together and every time I see them I feel like I am reunited with childhood friends. All this love that emanates from these souls echoes in my heart and make me bigger.
Its beautiful to see everybody in the room, even Lisa, looking in random spots in the room and thinking their own staff..He makes them travel..he makes them ignore him and travel somewhere..thats amazing
The question becomes how will the future movies that are suppose to be of this time deal with the actors all wearing masks. It is disconcerting to see people at times without thinking about masks and social distancing sometimes even in shows or movies. Especially in real time. Troubling times it is indeed and this concert shows us the light at the end of this terrible tunnel. Stay safe. Love Ireland!
Caprey Lance thats like the best most unique quality to his music /skill he has. He's better than everyone I've ever seen at breaking that 4th wall; singing NOT behind the mic, not just into it, but when he plays his music and persona are out in front of the mic...in the crowd. No doubt in my mind, one of the best live performers on the planet. You're description was much better and more sucinct...but i agree. I appreciate your description and his virtousity.
Shakespeare & Company is a bookstore in Paris. The one where this event took place is actually the second S & Co. It was open by George Whitman in 1951. The original Shakespeare & Company bookstore was opened by Sylvia Beach in 1919, and it was closed in 1941 because of the WWII. This was the place where artists, writers, and intellectuals like as Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ezra Pound, Gertrude Stein, George Antheil, Djuna Barnes, Mina Loy, and Man Ray used to hang out in the 1920's. They were drawn to Paris because of the atmosphere and also because in America they were no long selling alcohol, with the Prohibition starting in 1920 and ending in 1933. The 1920's were the best years to be around in Europe. Speaking of which, if you watch Woody Allen's movie "Midnight in Paris," you will find out that most of these characters are part of the plot, and you will also see a shot of the new Shakespeare & Company book store.
It was a great moment for sure :) but i'd have to say that Glen is such a nice person and a good story teller that the experience is not that different from a more "standard" show with him :)
The song Undertow (lisa hannigan, fantastic) popped up in my recoms from youtube. Four hours later... I've done the NPR and found out she is the mother's voice in Song from the Sea (lovely movie). Love her version of Joni's Willy. I've been on an Aoife O'Donovan journey for a while. So much good music out there.... In case there is a latent potential Aoife fan. Always good to start another rabbit journey. ua-cam.com/video/UwaBoX97PbQ/v-deo.html
If you would like to actually collaborate with Lisa Hannigan click this link ua-cam.com/video/8KkDaaoFluE/v-deo.html and check out the new free to download app from Whole World Band !
The blonde next to Lisa, that's consistently in each frame, looks bored out of her mind. What is her deal? Does she have any idea what she is experiencing at that moment!? lol Can you imagine hearing his voice, in person, that close? I bet it got loud at times :)
TeamFamily Looks bored, but is probably more like “Holy cow, Wtf is happening!!?” If she’s not accustomed to Glen’s passion and delivery live and up close (and she may not be) then this is going to freak her out. I must admit when I first heard it my brain went into overload. Now I can’t get enough of it. She’s probably just struggling to process the dynamics of that little room. Anyway, maybe he can ask her when he throws her “pennies” in the fountain.
feel strange to me as he's very modest and open but hey sometimes this kind of things have no direct explanation, maybe he reminds of you of someone bad ? :)
Lisa Hannigan has A Unique Voice . I'm so glad I found this on UA-cam..
thanks UA-cam! 👏👏
She's an absolute Celtic Pixie Goddess...
I miss life feeling like this. Meeting in a room with strangers to enjoy music, intimately, without all the knives at each other's throats.
Lisa lights up when she sings, she is music.
Lisa Hannigan is a gift for humanity. As I told her during her performance in Paris at the Irish Center she is the new Joan Baez !
Can you imagine being in that small of a room with those singers??? Christ, I would have had trouble containing myself.
Hahah that was magic !
Yes its a gift to be there and experience their amazing talent. Fortunately I live with two amazing world class singers and yes a singing dog, myself I fancy myself just backing up the dog.
Glen has one of the most contagious smiles ever. And they are both great live. Love them.
You're absolutely right. thank you for the comment
Brendan Behan once said, "Some people don’t like the Irish, but we’re very popular among ourselves." What's not to like??
hahah
Perfect!
I love the Irish and that's coming from an Englishman. Always have and always will.
am astounded by the musicianship and vocal control. such incredible passion in glens voice and doesn't lisa enchant completely.

Thank you for your words
Glen Hansard, you are the greatest man. Yay, Lisa!
You're right !

I feel the same. It makes my heart smile. . .
The guy just bleeds soul and heart you cant help but love that
Man, two of my fav humans/musicians/bards sharing a window stage...more please :)
Did you see the first part of this showcase on our channel too ?
I keep coming back to this.
The heartfelt performance of Bird of Sorrow gets me every time.
the (unrequited) love of my life, & my favourite artist singing together, these two are genius- in the original meaning of the word
Thank you so much Canince
0:28 damn lisa, such an incredible voice...
Indeed !!!!
Oh Lord. Lisa is so sweet! 🥰
Yes, so sweet
Doesn’t she just glow? I loved her with Damien, but she’s a bright light and needed to shine on her own.
Voice of an angel
You're right
Its beautiful to see everybody in the room, even Lisa, looking in random spots in the room and thinking their own staff..He makes them travel..he makes them ignore him and travel somewhere..thats amazing
3 years after, thank you
Hey remember when you could sit in a crowded room with dozens (!) of other people listening to live music? seems outlandish now.
it stings and I regret the times I didn't take advantage of that freedom we had
Remember when we could watch UA-cam videos without being interrupted by ads every 5 minutes
sorry for adds, but this is the only way we could manage our channel for more than 12 years now

The acoustics of that room full of books!!
A magic place
This two part video is my first introduction to Glen Hansard - really, really enjoyed this! Have to look deeper into his music.
That voice!
Wow just wow, beautiful version of Bird of Sorrow
Ho thank you
Such emotion when they both perform. Love them.
You're right. Thank you
Glen's music feels like I'm there watching him playing. Such joy listening to his music.
Thank you so much for this comment

I'm pretty sure for ALL the involved, public and everyone else, those moments were unforgetable😌
It was a great moment for sure :) but i'd have to say that Glen is such a nice person and a good story teller that the experience is not that different from a more "standard" show with him :)

Glen and iron&wine should get together and make great music, how good would that be!!!!

Am such a fan, some humans get such wonderful genes and know just what to do with them !!! Hansard is one of those humans.
Whenever I feel need of uplifting I gravitate to people with passion. These are such people.

I wish that Glen and I were friends
Glen, for the love of god bring Lisa and Damien back together.
Does anyone know if that is a tenor or soprano uke that Lisa is playing in the beginning?
It looks like a soprano to me.
+Not My Real Name it's a tenor
+lisasfanno1 thank you for your answer
"throw our ~panties~ in the fountain" LOL
Ah its great to be famous.
why do you say that ?
No Brian, Fame is not great. What's great is when play in front of thousands and never loose sight of who you are and what you represent.
Does anybody know what type of ukulele Glen plays?
The brand is Mya-Moe :). Mya-Moe ukuleles usually have quite a distinctive looking headstock with contrasting colours, so they are easy to spot. :).

"dya have a capo" haha she's a babe
Two years after, thank you
through our panties in the fountain.. haha love it
+Matthias Bauer Wonderful story !
threw our pennies in the fountain!
The mondegreen is hilarious
Glen Hansard giving less than 200% is less likely than seeing lead turn into gold...
haha thank you

I said I would love you forever. Unfortunately for me, I was telling the truth.
Today they would all be together in intensive care with covid
Are Glen and Lisa an item?
I found my other Idiots
oh planets disguised as stars
????
Dunno why but I can’t stand him.
🤷🏻
feel strange to me as he's very modest and open but hey sometimes this kind of things have no direct explanation, maybe he reminds of you of someone bad ? :)
