Yes, thank you, BlueBell, for such a great suggestion! Great coverage, Josip, of a good positional game. I can see from the current TCEC competition that Stockfish is currently 4th, with the most wins at 7 and the most losses at 4 among the top engines. This shows that it is a very aggressive engine, pushing for wins rather than draws, which also opens it up to defeats. It is playing for wins, not draws, as Bobby famously said, “The turning point in my career came with the realization that Black should play to win instead of just steering for equality." I also heard in an interview during his Candidates matches "draws are boring".
Jozarov, you have always inspired me, as Police man, and chess player. Why not now try bodybuilding? Like me? You have many talents my friend. You have passion for this game, and watching your videos always gets me fired up. Wish I could meet you someday. LOL!
Thanks for the understanding and saying they published 1000s when I only needed to publish one in 2005 and it holds the first and all of it's theory.still working on book and a new channel of it's beginning.i was first to do what I want and when and where and how.😮
Hi Jozarov! Great video and analysis. Please check Wei Yi vs Max Warmerdam from Tata Steel 2024. I think you haven't covered it yet. Surely one of the games of the year.
... c3!! was a great, GM-like move. But, by the same token, so should c4! by White have been. If Black goes ... bxc4, then White can play c3 himself (after dxc4), and the diagonal for the White bishop has opened up again. Instead, White went with e5 and d4, after which your bishop is just locked out forever.
Wouldn't black anticipate this and after c4 play b4 instead of taking? Point being that now after c3 black plays bxc3 and this time even though the white bishop opens up a bit, the d4 thrust can no longer be supported by the c pawn.
What was the event? What was the time control? What was the hardware? Where did Stockfish first see it was winning and where did Ethereal first see it was losing? How long did the …c3! move take? Would Stockfish 16 have found it?
The‘res the proof Stockfish 17 can play positional. But he still doesn’t understand positions like this: r6r/3k4/r6r/2b5/1p1p1p1p/pPpPpPpP/P1P1P1P1/7K w - -
TLDR warning 1. ??? This is an impossible game position, why would SF "understand" it - a position that will never arise in reg chess or 960? It's a waste of electricity to evaluate a position like this because there's no way any side can make any progress. easy 50MR if the game started from this position. The problem is that there are SO MANY pieces on the board and so much space for one side to make different moves. once the depth gets closer to 50, the eval will get closer to 0. but the width of the branches of this tree (possible combination of moves) exponentially exceed the length (depth) because SF is an AB minimax engine, it's not evaluating just the position, it's evaluating the best move sequence. This is why such calculation could take upwards of 250-750G nodes just to reach depth 50. This is the precise reason why Endgame Tablebases exist: to instantly notify the engine that it doesn't need to calculate the move sequence because the end of all possible move sequences will end in a draw 2. SF understands positions better than you think it does. But Chess is a game where move sequence matters because you can't reach positions without specific sequences of moves. It is possible that it plays the game a lot higher than human understanding of what is "positional play"
Ok stockfish is learning ok stockfish opened into what you said but now comes the transpose into jbird, Donna's bird, knights queen and even jump into my knights corner table which is all part of the jbird theory so let the chief and head programmer show you a true true insight, when a original formation sets the next level is the only one who who created it's fruition can be the only one to confirm it's destination.😮
