    Richard the Crower Cam is a 62824 for my 4.6 4V. The cam card is on Crower site. So I put the engine together put silly puddy on #1 & 6 cyl. Set timing and with just test springs only turned it over by hand. I had a fat set of 0.062 gaskets for this test. I'm regretting I didn't get valve reliefs cut in my Carillo pistons. No damage but intake valves made the slightest contact on pistons. I pulled my Ferrea valves out checked no damage
    So pistons are getting valve reliefs.

    You should buy the RV 440 anyways because you always get new heads and different cams and intakes and heads anyway....plus you saved a V8 and any big block is awesome

    Oh the nacl/salt water in the a/w is brilliant bro. Throw that ice in and use filter on the to cooler line, and you could get that water so damn cold. Like street drivability if you carried some salt and stopped every while for ice.

    • @garysawyers8730

      You could also use antifreeze and cool it to sub-zero temps with dry ice or something similar.

      Why would you use salt water when regular ice melts when water freezes? If you want to go apeshit use methanol as your fluid medium and cool it with blocks of dry ice, you could get it down to -109f or so. I think using salt water is a recipe for disaster.

    Richard,
    How about an ultimate truck SBC test? Take a junkyard 1996-2000 Vortec 350 engine, pull off the horrible factory injection unit, and put an L98 tuned port injection on it. There's companies that make a tune port manifold that will bolt to vortec heads. Maybe add a ZZ4 cam and voila, 350 Torque monster.

      My L31 Vortec intake works just fine after porting and the marine intake also worked very well. Close to 500 hp on E85 with the ported stock manifold.

    You should do a 351w build with Ls heads. There is a guy that did it a few weeks ago on his UA-cam channel but when he put turbos on it blew up. Be cool to watch you do a build like that and see how much power you can get and if it’s worth it

    • @andyharman3022
      @andyharman3022 4 роки тому +1

      You answered your own question when you said "when he put turbos on, it blew up". That means it's not worth the effort.

    • @timothybayliss6680
      @timothybayliss6680 4 роки тому +1

      It's not worth it. Even if the ls heads are free it's still not worth it. Stock is heads are worse than basically all aftermarket aluminum Windsor heads. You can buy a set of edelbrock rpm heads off the shelf and bolt them on and make the same power with 0 fabrication. You need so many custom parts to get ls heads to work and they don't flow enough to make a sheet metal intake worth your time. It's a neat idea but not a good idea.

    I have an idea for Big Bang. What effect does temp have on HP? Dyno at the following engine temps, 180, 200, 220, 240, 260!! Can it survive?

    • @michaelallen2501
      @michaelallen2501 4 роки тому +1

      Been there, tested that. Everyone knows heat kills power. Which is why they dyno everything at 140-150° water temp. The warmer the coolant, the warmer the cylinder head. And the less power it can make before detonating. Every single time.

    • @cobalt0681

      @@michaelallen2501 so they test in unrealistic conditions. No motor runs “normally” at 150. I feel your not looking at the bigger picture.

      @@cobalt0681 lots of modified engines run at 150-160°F coolant temp. You want the oil temp up to 195-205°F to burn off all the impurities. But there's no benefit to getting the coolant that warm. Except emissions related stuff. I have a 160° thermostat in my V8. It runs around at 175-185°F.

I bought a 95 chevy caprice and it had a 4.3 the guy said the motor was swapped for the 5.7 I just want to make sure which one I have. I'd still like to see what kind of power curve you could get from a Ford 300 I6. A mild cam, some ring gap, and a turbo. I think decent power with a big torque curve could be had. Thanks in advance.

    A couple of thoughts. Air/fuel ratio is meaningless if the spark plugs are the wrong heat range. I think chamber shape and size is just as important as port flow. Maybe even more. As far as power adders I believe nitrous is the best because it doesn’t add heat as long as the fuel curve is correct for nitrous introduction. Plus it’s easier to control power production.

    You have to eliminate or limit the phaser to cam the L99. But the most important thing is you need a non displacement on demand valvetrain and tuning oc. But do it, those are bad systems on these motors.
