Mathis Magic at its very finest. Nobody does this song better. This was always a very emotive song with a powerful and poignant meaning which the world still has to come to terms with..
1/12/2024: Divinely Led here. Glory To God🧎🏿♀️🙏🏿 Almighty For blessing 🙌🏿 me with the privilege to have these feelings that are expresses in Mr Mathis' lyrics👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿.
I first heard the song in the 70's and have loved it every since...>Now I play it on the organ! We also sang it for a priest ordination when I was in a church choir!
There's such a beautiful message here, for all of us. Johnny's rendition is the only one I listen to. Gives me chills, every time, especially at the end. What a voice! Love you Johnny.
This beautiful and classic song is performed in 1972 by the very handsome and very talented singer, actor, dancer, and entertainer Johnny Mathis! I love this beautiful song! I was born in 1978! The message of compassion, democracy, empathy, ethics, freedom, love, and peace is so important! Thank you for posting and sharing this!
10/3/19. Mildly moved to tears. It is always a surprise, when lyrics lead me to be so emotional!! Unceasingly thankful for being blessed with empathy I never knew I possessed!! Hallelujah.......Jesus.
My father was the pianist for this album. I know every note. Hero worship - i was 8 when it was recorded. Still my favourite album by any artist. Love you, Dad!
Jennie Lucas WOW Jennie... he must have been so proud to be part of such a beautiful and memorable album. This was one of my first albums I purchased by Johnny Mathis. I still have the LP... along with about 50 others he recorded. He's the best!
I first heard this song on TV a long time ago. It was an episode of Charlie's Angels when a duo of world champions auditioned for an ice show where the Angels were investigating the sudden disappearance of the show's star skaters. Such a beautiful song. Nice to hear it again. Very nostalgic.
This is such a beautiful and touching song..It is truly heartfelt. Hearing the Magical sound of Johnny Mathis is so amazing. I'm in tears over here. Simply Amazing
My family clubbed together and bought the album as a birthday present for Mum in 1972. At that time I was yet to see JM , as I was 9. There were fantastic sleevenotes describing JM's set list which almost put me in Caesar's Palace with the audience. I've played the song incessantly during my lifetime of 52-the way the music builds to a crescendo, and the orchestra's reprise as JM takes his bows amidst thunderous applause- this has to be one of my favourite live recordings of any artist..
Do you still have your album? I listen to mine (with the Promo Only sticker) on the turntable as I originally heard it, and here on YT with headphones, to catch subtleties missed before.
Gorgeous poetry and perfect performance by JM. I´ve listened to this song since I was a dreamer boy, four decades ago. An up to date message, considering the nowadays conflicts around the world and, mainly, the still extant lack of love from mankind. . .
If we only have love we can see a little bit better if we only have love what a beautiful life we could share love can mean so much to so many love can bring us together love can help us to understand so much more love can soften our hearts if we only have love we can share it with others if your love can bring you back to me I know that we could be together for ever
It is true that only a handful; of Brel's original lyrics are in this version. It is from the Broadway musical Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris.. There are some videos with English translations of this Quand on n'a Que L'amour. Brel is very hard to translate. Sam Cooke also recorded this song as You Belong to My Heart with completely different lyrics.
This song used in a Radio Drama of a radio station in Cebu dYMF Titled: Father Giovanie Mo Kumpisal Ang Nasud. Written and Directed by my idol Fermin Gomez
Does anyone have this in a format I can listen to on my iPod? I bought the LP way back in 1973 (yes, I'm old..67) but have no way to play or transfer it. I haven't heard it for 30 years because I couldn't remember the exact name. I can't find it on iTunes. I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks!
This lp was released on cd just briefly in Japan. Copies show up on eBay. I used a USB turntable to record the album digitally, then added to my iPod via computer. Complicated. Columbia should give it a full-on release.
This was my favorite album throughout junior high and high school. I keep checking to see if it's been released on CD. It was one of the finest albums he ever did; and one of the best live albums that anyone ever put out.
They still sell record players online and at some music shops, as vinyl records sell more than compact discs beginning in 2020 for the first time since 1986. There are a lot of record players that play stereo records and are brand new. They still make them, some with AM/FM radios.
Thank God for His Love!!!
Let us show it...
Give it...
Share it...
LIVE IT!!!
Mathis Magic at its very finest. Nobody does this song better. This was always a very emotive song with a powerful and poignant meaning which the world still has to come to terms with..
One of his very best and no one can sing it like Johnny, he puts that Mathis touch to every song he sings.
The absolute best version of the song of this wonderful poem by Jacque Brel.
May that day...that time... become our reality!!!
One day!
Some day!
Soon!!!
One of the finest songs written -- and song ...by Johnny Mathis!
This song is so appropriate for what is happening to our world today. No one else could deliver it more beautifully. Love JM.

1/6/19. No teardrops falling BUT... misty eyes nonetheless. Lovely lyrics from a generation before mine. Correction; I was four Y.O., in 1972!!
