Replacing a stove exhaust fan and the new unit is a little to tall to connect to the exhaust sleeve. So going to make a box from sheet metal to fit between the studs which will allow me to complete the exhaust. I'm just going to use a small butane torch on the lowest setting, with those stich/tack weld to start. Might warp a little, however its nice to be able to make something I need that will fit exactly vs searching for hours in the box store or online for something they'll want 3-4x what it should cost.
greetings from BHARAT , many thanks for sharing your expertise honestly , i want to use your technique to repair a small one inch crack on my interior of stainless steel microwave oven, so can this repair high temp of oven ? or is there any paste or paint to protect it from hing temp ? thanks waiting for your kind response .
I think you could use a torch, just a mini one cause the big ones get too hot. Just have to add/remove flame as needed. Too hot and solder just runs off, not hot enough and solder won’t melt or stick.
I am going to try this. Thank you to make the effort.
Can you send me a picture of whatever you make or repair.

I don’t know if it will work on stainless. I’ll try it in the morning thanks for watching.
I tried to solder stainless steel today with the pine rosin and lead free solder I could make it work.
What if you used a torch?
You’ll have to try it I’ve never used a torch on it.

How strong is it?
It’s pretty strong.
It would probably be all you could do to take two pairs of pliers and maybe pull it apart.
