I also totally agree about the pressure to look a certain way! It’s was too much. I promise even without expensive treatments, you will feel absolutely the most beautiful you have ever felt. I did my own makeup, did a self tan at home, and the only professional services I had done were a manicure and my updo.
Why am I emotional while watching this. I’m so happy for you. Literally you have been the only reason I go on UA-cam since the og glossier days with your crate bed. Congratulations!!!!!!!!! You are a queen and also the funniest lady ever
I think you will be so relieved you did the first look. We did a first look at my wedding, and it just made us both feel so much more at ease to have that moment together alone before the other big moments began
I really appreciate how you mention that it’s okay to look the way you do in this time of your life for your wedding! I had to make a conscious effort to not succumb to the idea of looking different than I do or trying to lose weight before my wedding. I even gained weight which got nerve wracking as it related to my dress fitting. But in the end it all worked out and I am glad I didn’t add any other stressor to the process of wedding planning by trying to modify myself for no reason.
The decision fatigue is so real! I’m 2 months out and I’m like “why are you asking me? I don’t care” hahahaha So happy for you and Ted it’s going to be beautiful and totally worth it! ❤️
I hope we get to see bits of your wedding (or at least what it looks like), but I understand if not! It would just be so nice to see what your style was for it!!
I'm 43 and my daughter is getting married in October. I've been following along and taking notes. There's two weddings I'm now invested in! So excited for you 🥹❤️
Agree 100% on the wedding vendors research especially in smaller places. I am getting married in a smaller Canadian city, the vendors all seem to have similar prices for their services and I had a hard time finding people who aligned with my vision right away. I'm bringing in a lot of stuff shipped from elsewhere instead of using local vendors because of cost and general not aligning with the vibe of vendors. I wish I had figured that out before I booked the venue.
On the other hand I think it's really important to support local if you are having an event in a small community! I live in a popular wedding town and weddings are always a double-edged sword. We depend on the tourism and jobs they bring, but it also puts stress on our town. It's really a trade-off, you gotta respect the locals and their prices if you are going to host an event in a community that you aren't a part of.
@@clairelm7277 I agree but for my circumstance this situation isn't true. It's a small city but it's also the capital of Canada. My wedding isn't bringing strain, majority of my guests are local. In hindsight I should have found a better place for me to get married that had businesses that aligned with my vision instead but I picked a place convenient for my guests. The options should be better where I'm getting married, but they're not
When my daughter got married we ended up picking a venue called the Foundry in Long Island city N.Y. It sits just under the 59th street Bridge to Manhattan. It actually was a Foundry years ago and the venue has a red brick industrial vibe, but in a beautiful warm way. We had a tent in the outside courtyard for dining and the indoor spaces were for dancing areas, bar and sitting. You pay just to use the venue spaces and everything else you have to bring in from vendors. My daughter had a vision for the decor/ flowers and we did some of the table decor ourselves, but the flowers were pricey, being NYC. The florist made table arrangements using little silver vases of various sizes and filling them with unique flowers. We were limited to 150 people, so we had to make serious decisions. The couple did not want children for the reasons you pointed out and they also did not want distant relatives that they never met or had no contact with. Also, they wanted to avoid inviting people because parents said, "but we have too otherwise cousin Susan will be mad ". Also we parents agreed to only invite our personal friends who the couple knew well and were very, very close friends. So yes, it significantly raises the costs choosing a BYOE venue. If a couple wants to save money then I suggest a catering hall that supplies food, flowers, tables/chairs linens and decor. You will be a beautiful bride Joanna and I know your hair/makeup will be stunning because your very talented.
first you look stunning! second, I also had a weekend long wedding and it was the best. The day goes by so fast it was nice to have the extra time to be with everyone!
A few kids ended up knocking over my parent's wedding cake because they were playing under the table. I know it was just a cake, but I'm sure they spent a pretty penny for it to end up on the floor 😭 Also I can't wait to see all the wedding pictures 🌟🩵❤️
joanna after the wedding can you PLEASE do a full plus size wedding dress brands video like i feel so stuck just browsing the internet (literally not even engaged HAHAHA)
I actually ended up changing my venue. Will you put a deposit down on a place that was pretty expensive and came to find out you have to supply it literally everything down to the napkin holders. I wanted no part of that we ended up finding a place that did everything for us we literally showed up and left when it was over. Highly recommend lol. I can't wait to see pictures of you!
@@joannaspicer it was! I couldn't handle it all I knew we'd never get married if I did it at the original venue. It'll be perfect for sure! I can't wait to see what you chose!
Literally starting clapping during your comments about not caving to pressure to obsess about appearance. YES GIRL. I also think you dodged a bullet not getting Botox for the first time. What if it turned out botched?? Too much of a risk.
I'm getting married in May 2025 and even though we're DIYing so much of the wedding, we've already gone over budget. It's wild how expensive weddings are
I’m the douche who thought this was a parody account. I apologize and still think you’re hilarious. But you’re also thoughtful and gorgeous. Enjoy your wedding! 💕
MY Royal wedding. I'm sure it will be a serious blast and absolutely gorgeous, can't wait to see all of the pictures!!!!
This makeup is incredible! Not at all the point but pop off
I was practicing my wedding day makeup!

"it's okay to just look the way you do at this time of your life" as a 2026 bride staring down the next two years, I needed to hear this!!
I think you will be so relieved you did the first look. We did a first look at my wedding, and it just made us both feel so much more at ease to have that moment together alone before the other big moments began
I’m so excited for it!
Love the words of wisdom about looking like how you look at your wedding and not being so hard on yourself and accepting yourself as you are ❤

Yes! It’s not really talked about and we honestly didn’t even think about it beforehand.
