I'm old and a life-long movie buff. This was the first time I've been able to see this film. A cohort of astute character actors fill the frames. I hope film students see this film and study each actor's persona. Isnt it strange that a slightly built man, with a lisp, wearing a toupee, holds an audience's imagination by portraying courage. John Wayne's bluster doesn't portray American courage. It's Bogart who does that.
@@alansorensen5903 yes indeed. I am a fan of the so called golden age of Hollywood. From 1922 to about 1959 many great movies were made that dealt with the human condition. The movie dialogue also revealed a literate America and an informed America . We live in an illeterate world where the likes of Google encourages immediate self gratification as a means of control. An intelligent Hollywood wished the masses to be informed and enlightened. Much has changed.
This One Of Bogarts Best Pictures. Great Cast And Story Line.

Another Bogart classic 👍
Never liked him. I always saw him as you described him. I would describe his persona as “tedious.”
If you look up the word “Fedora”, you’ll probably see Bogart sporting one, as only He can.
@grouchosays Right out of Nottinghill. LOL
Bogart was a great actor but if he wasn't saddled by Lauren he was saddled by overly scripted dialogue.
Bacall and dialog really ruined him all right. It took the American Film Institute until 1999 to name him the top male film star of the 20th century.

@@pauljessome5718 Agreed. Ignorance seems to be the choice of many today, even among the Mensa legions.
