This operator looks like he never operated a excavator before he could have taken the walls down in half the time instead of brick by brick

He does seem to be very jerky on the controls, maybe not familiar with the machine??

Better to safe and consider how you do it

He's just taking it slow to ensure better segregation of materials.

I’ve seen operators kill time but this operator has to be working by the hour or by the job with that Volvo excavator and bobcat they could have broken down that building to rubble in one third the time there is a higher. Speed on that machine but if you pick up one piece at a time of course it will take more time if you do it by the hour Not piece work ! Sorry but it has to be a reason for the slow pace of demo !

Don't understand why you don't have skip's or containers to put metal In instead of keep moving around the demolition site

Do you get to keep any of the items left in the buildings? I would like to have a bell from a old fire station! Great video..

Great video as always! The demo itself was like watching paint dry though. @19:19 was that a freon line from the A/C that popped or something else? Hopefully it was something else.

I wondered that too. I thought at first it was the refrigerant, but when they summoned the fire hose that seemed like it was something else.

The guy asking for agua might not have understood the difference between water vapor condensing from decompressing Freon versus smoke from fire. It looked and sounded to me like the escaping Freon I have seen from HVAC units at a few other demo sites.

@@JohnZWetmore I think it was freon too and I guess someone should have evacuated the system before demo.

Thanks, John. Well shot. It looked like you did some of that from a ladder - no parking garages in site.
That operator is quite good. He sure knows how to handle that machine.

Not a ladder, but just as good. There was a retaining wall along the back lot line that put me up a bit higher.

Fun fact, the majority of the space occupied by a structure is air.

That was quite the roof! Wonder how many layers of that material were applied over the years.

    Hey there,
Hi I work for Arlington County Government. We are making a video that includes what is going to happen with Fire Station 8 and I saw that you got some great footage from the demolition that we would like to use in our video (and of course credit your footage). Is it possible to that we can do this? Thanks

Raking the roof, shaving off layers why?

I'd suppose to separate the insulation and roofing from other debris in order to reduce disposal costs. He was carefully pulling out the metals, and keeping the masonry separate from other debris.

I drive past this everyday. This video randomly appeared in my suggested box. Kinda creepy Google.

This worker does not know how to run this machine, hasten the faintest idea of what he is going to do next.

Nice job with the Freon. Hopefully the EPA isn't watching.

these company should have roll off their.this material never should hit the ground.all they are doing is handling this crap 2 or more time thats why it cost so much to tear a building down.no dam excuse for this
