    Did you switch to synthetic oil after the engine was broke in ? Got my new o-ring chain , just waiting on sprocket. found a plastic tool tube on ebay with mounting brackets to put on frame above helmet lock. thanks for all the great videos

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  8 років тому

      I haven't switched to synthetic yet. I'm worried the clutch might slip if there's not enough spring tension. I change the oil every 300 anyway. Post a link t I the tool kit please.

    I got over 10k miles on my TMEC 200 bike, and several thousand miles were AFTER a lady ran me off the road. I bought and put the bike together in May, 2014. My accident occurred in November 2014, and I kept riding the bike (had bent things here and there) until I found a TGB scooter for sale last September. By then, the TMEC was showing its 'injuries', but I was riding 32 miles round trip to work and back daily. Year round. The engine still runs, but the frame is a little messed up (it was messed up from the accident).I will be getting a Hawk or the upcoming 'Magician' which seems like it is also from Haosen--same engine--and will accompany Chinariders' member 'Wolftrax' from Yuma to Cabo San Lucas, whereas he will continue riding his Hawk (he bought his specifically for his epic trip) down to Argentina and will 'dump' it in one way or another (sell, give away, abandon, etc). He has dubbed his trip as a 'ride and dump.'
    Not to take away from your bike and your blogs, but wanted to mention how stout the Chinese bikes can be!

    Love the videos bro !! I bet the hawk will be going just as strong @ 2500 or 5000 miles as it is now . For the cost of the bike , 1000 miles with no major issues , and minimal modification , is truly a testament to how far chinese bikes have come . Can't wait to get mine !! : )

    how much does the bike lower when you sit on it? I just read the seat height is 35 inches. my inseam is only 29 lol. think the seat can be shaved a bit? ugh, id need to actually get on one to see if my weight lowers it down enough to where i can get at least part of my foot on the ground

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  7 років тому +1

      I'm 5'10 and have a 30" inseam. It should fit you perfectly. I can flatfoot on the bike

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  7 років тому +1

      Yes, it squats when you sit on it, soft offroad suspension

  • @ughmas
    @ughmas 8 років тому +1

    Very nice... What jets did you buy for it? I will probably need to rejet my tt250 after i break it in because I plan to put an aftermarket exhaust on it

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  8 років тому +1

      Mikuni jets. Ended up with 110 main

    • @culcune
      @culcune 8 років тому

      +ughmas I think you are also on Chinariders, but you will need a new carb if you didn't already know that. Most guys go with Ebay 'Mikuni' carbs (most likely not real Mikunis, but they take Mikuni jets) for about $40.

  • @tylerfrost77
    @tylerfrost77 4 роки тому

    How tall are you? I am 6'2", too small for me? If so, do you have any suggestions for another bike about the same price?

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  4 роки тому

      I'm 5'10. You'd be fine on the hawk, the new DLX hawk is a bit taller. Problem is the seat has a hump and longer legs may get tires because you can't move back a little. Only all the way

    Hello Sir I just bought a new Hawk got 10 miles on it! Love it so far, was just wondering what happened or was happening to the chain that you had to replace it? Would appreciate some feed back, love all your videos watched all of them several times real helpful! My decision maker actually! Thank you!

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  8 років тому

      Thanks! The chain is OK, just a non Oring chain, so more maintenance and adjustments. So once I got about 600 miles I just figured I'd change it to an Oring chain.

    • @magman687
      @magman687 7 років тому

      MotoCheez I'm fairly handy when it comes to small engines and basic mechanics. the biggest thing for me is I live in Ohio where half of the year is good for street bikes and the other half would be great for a dual sport Plus with the Dual Sport I'm thinking about how much fun I can have not only on the road during the winter but on the trails as I live out in the country.

    • @magman687
      @magman687 7 років тому

      MotoCheez I forgot to ask now that it is broken in how is the gas mileage

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  7 років тому +1

      magman687 oops. used my other account. magman687 Then it should be good for you. I get about 65mpg, it has about a 65mpg top speed after mods so it's a great secondary road bike.

    • @magman687
      @magman687 7 років тому

      MotoCheez one more question how well do you think this bike does with a load I weigh 240 pounds and my wife is 160 do you think that would be okay for the bank not on trail but just straight blacktop Road not on the highway either as I know that much weight would impact the top speed quite a bit butt I don't know if that much weight would hurt the bike or not

    @Motocheez hey man, I'm getting into the world of bikes, figured start small, question about the hawk and making it sustainable at speed. Besides an oil cooler and sprocket what mods do you suggest? Whats the furthest you've been on your hawk at speed?

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  6 років тому

      Hi, sprockets, airbox and carb mod. You don't really need the oil cooler IMO. I've been 72mph but I'm not geared up as high as it could be. Just a 17 tooth front sprocket.

    • @MotoCheez

      +Rickey Harris 100 miles is a long ride on a narrow seat! I guess if it's mostly dirt roads and you're in no rush it would be ok.

      If you're getting something frugal *primarily to ride to work* on paved streets, then a naked bike (like a CB 200 or 250nighthawk used) or a mini cruiser like the Vstar250 or pre 2018 Rebel. Those can be had for 1200 used and are fifty year rock solid low maintenance bikes. A much better street ride, and easier to fit good saddlebag/boxes for the commute without having to wear a backpack.
      If you want to take it to the dirt, then this may be best. Remember, your daily driver gets you to work trouble free with no drama. These will always need work (for a hobby bike that is part of the fun)

    I just got my Hawk 250cc delivered today. Only complaint is the wrapping warped my front fender. Hoping that is an easy fix. I ordered the fully assembled and tested option. My question is this: By 'tested" am I correct to assume that means ran? Leading to is it ready to ride after attaching the rear blinkers? Has gas and/or oil been topped off in order to be 'tested'? Or, am I to put gas and oil and brake fluid before my first ride? Any information would be greatly appreciated as this is the first time I have ordered a motorcycle to be newly delivered.

    • @MotoCheez

    I received my already assembled hawk about 10 days ago. The gas lever (on, off, reserve) is fully corroded or eroded and is covered with oxidation, its all white and flaky and looks like it came off of another hawk. Is this common at time of delivery? Should I call for a replacement lever to include the housing? Is it an easy replacement/easy fix? I received a call from the factory and/or dealer. She left a voice message requesting that I provide her the VIN. I would have thought that it would have already been documented. I'm still waiting for the MCO? Can anyone in Texas tell me, is that what I need to take to get the title? How does that work? Any info is appreciated.

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  6 років тому

      The fuel petcock shouldn't be corroded, I've never heard of that happening. It is easy to replace. Texas is easy to register these in.

    • @reynaldoramirez3093
      @reynaldoramirez3093 6 років тому

      Thanks MotoCheez, you are a great asset to their company. Do you think a non-mechanically inclined person can replace it w/o problems? Lastly, if I hadn't mentioned it, I should only need to provide the M.C.O., proof of insurance and ID for registration purposes. Since I will be providing the M.C.O., would I still need to produce an application for new title form?

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  6 років тому +1

      Yeah. It's 2 bolts. Just drain the tank in reserve first. Yes on the reg, you'll need to fill out form to get a title too. If they issue titles there.

      You mean the fuel gauge? It doesn't read until there's about 3/4 gallon. It should already be connected.

    Any other tips to tune up the bike for performance wise ?

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  8 років тому

      The biggest performance gain I did was tuning the carb. I'd like to find an aftermarket carb a few mm larger and try it. I'd say exhaust but I like it being quiet for when I may get lost places I don't belong 😎

    • @jibblesack

    Hey again, so my bike is not starting at all. I've traced it to the spark plug and it's not sparking, definitely fouled but I put a new one in and no spark. I rode it around for a day and wasn't able to keep it going without half choke. I thought I flooded it but now with a new spark plug still nothing. Also wondering where you get the jet and how to know which jet to use for upstate ny. If you have any idea what my issue is I have no idea, thanks

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  8 років тому

      How many miles? If you kick it over does it have a lot of compression? If I had to guess, I'd say check valve adjustment. They usually tighten up and then bike won't idle.

    • @justinheartcarson
      @justinheartcarson 8 років тому +1

      +MotoCheez my pop found a wire that was unplugged, now just dealing with keeping it running without choke

      @justinheartcarson 8 років тому

      +MotoCheez got that done, now the bike is running great, starting up every time, running perfect beside one thing. Now I am bogging out and losing all power past half throttle. Thinking it may need a carb tune I guess?

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  8 років тому

      +justinheartcarson yes. Once mine broke in it bogged out past half throttle. Had to go all the way to a 110 main jet. I shimmed the needle valve too

    can I get a hot Cam for this?

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  7 років тому

      Ricky Dziadek I don't think so, it would be nice. it's a single lobe cam, has gobs of torque so I'm sure you could move that power up in the mid to higher RPM.

    • @rickydziadek349
      @rickydziadek349 7 років тому

      MotoCheez I'm looking at this but for the same price I give or take I can get a fairly new 2009 to about 2012 Kawasaki ninja 250 capable of doing 100mph plus

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  7 років тому

      Ricky Dziadek it's not a good comparison, these are 90% dirt 10% road. it will never go as fast as a sport bike with same CCS.

    • @rickydziadek349
      @rickydziadek349 7 років тому

      MotoCheez I under that I'm just trying to decide if I want an off-road capable bike or off-road and on road I just think the Kawasaki will last longer

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  7 років тому

      +Ricky Dziadek I get what you mean. a comparable Enduro 250cc is much more money, you'd have to go back to the 80's used to find a comparable price. If you're thinking of riding road primarily, I'd buy the Kawi. If you want a dirt bike you can also ride on the road, buy a hawk.

      @FlameAndSno 7 років тому

      MotoCheez Hmm. It won't pass inspection in CT? I couldn't seem to find a clear reason why not. And if so, how did you manage to get the Vermont registration?

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  7 років тому

      I took it to inspection... it passed, but it's not on the approved list NHSTA that CT uses because it has not gone through national tests. So the guy said he couldn't approve it... In Vermont you can register a bike even being not resident, the forms are online and it's pretty easy. I am close so I will be riding it in VT at some point anyway.

      How you like it?

    • @DanielBarnesBand
      @DanielBarnesBand 6 років тому +1

      MotoCheez I haven't ridden it yet. I should have it back from the mechanic this afternoon. I did the shipping assembly myself, front wheel, handlebars, electrical connections, battery prep, fork extension, rear shock attachment, but after thinking about it I decided that even before I even drive it down the driveway I wanted to have an experienced motorcycle mechanic go over it. He's visiting every bolt, adjustment and lubrication on it. Good thing I did because as I suspected, the chain is so tight it would "break the first time I rode it."
      But I'm pretty excited that I'll have my first ever motorcycle today!
