Just for reference you may not want to let the caliper hang like that you can actually damage the hose. Set it on top or use bungee cords. Also use the old brake pad with c-clamp to push both pistons
He left a lot out. You wanna grease the calipers? You wanna grease the brake pad little pieces? You wanna grease the new metal? There's a 10 different places you want to grease. He didn't include that. And you wanna take the cap off your brake fluid? So there's no pressure to build up. When you press the calipers, it can blow your lines.
BEWARE BEFORE STARTING… Some Calipers require a T55 torx adapter. Also from experience, your caliper piston may not release pressure and instead decide to seize up and leak brake fluid everywhere. If this happens, go buy a caliper/bracket assembly (I just did both fronts since I had to do one anyway) and make sure the bleeder valve is at the bottom of the caliper. The AutoZone guy told me the wrong sides when he sold them to me and I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t bleed the brakes fully. After a couple hours it finally donned on me. 🤦🏼♂️
They make a rear silicone like substance that you put on the back of the pads and they wont squeak as well. Also put some sylaglyde in the rubber boots. It's made by napa and wont expand rubber. It's good stuff.
I noticed the brakes weren’t bled, or if they were off camera? Is it mandatory i bleed my breaks before replacing brake pads or does it matter all the much ?
If you like to do things right, yes you should bleed them, but it's after you change pads (or brake lines, calipers etc) not before. If the calipers or piston seals are worn, when the piston is pushed in it can force air or other junk into the caliper, not that it usually does, but can.
Never let that big caliper hang. Use a c clamp to press the pistons with the brake fluid reservoir off. Don't mess with the zert unless you want or need to bleed your brakes
I changed my brakes using those Amazon pads about 6 months ago. I don't remember how long they were rated for but I feel as if they should've lasted longer
If you want instructions on how to do your brakes, Go some where else, as soon as I seen this kid bounding and struggling to get to his Pads I knew he didn't know his @$$ from a Hole in the Ground, Helpful Hint, use a C Clamp to push the Piston/Pistons back into the Calipers Bore, then the old Brake Pads can be easily accessed (Without Beating on the Caliper).
Just a few little things like no grease on the points where the metal to metal contact is on the new pads, not pushing the pistons in evenly causing them to cock at an angle while being reset, you can just remove the top caliper bolt and loosen the lower so that the caliper swings clear of the pads, but from the looks of it pulling both bolts was the way to go so that the slide pins can be cleaned and lubed. Not a hard job to do, if your going to start doing your own repairs spend the money on a manual such as Chilton's for your vehicle, read the section for the job your doing and then if you get stuck on something search here on YT and watch several videos to see how others have worked out the problem.
You forgot to mention to check your brake rotors to avoid any accident down the road you can clearly sea that your brake rotor is cracked why in the world would you not address this issue???
Yes i agree it is a good idea to look at brake rotors if rotors are bad you'll wear out brake pads a lot quicker also. I should have mentioned it your correct thanks for your feedback!!!
Lol yea mine is completely stripped dude. So I used my hammer beat the damn thing off now I can't put the brakes on 😂 3 tires have break and front passanger doesn't

Use old brake pad turn backwards and use c clamp to push both pistons in at the same time...also grease caliper bolts and torque them
Very good tip!💯💯
On point
What kind of grease?
Yes. I was getting anxious the entire time he was using the clamp one at a time like" dude use your old pad" lol
I always put the new pad on and take a big screw driver and pry against the old rotor to push it back
Just for reference you may not want to let the caliper hang like that you can actually damage the hose. Set it on top or use bungee cords. Also use the old brake pad with c-clamp to push both pistons
Agreed on using the old pad, but if he hurts that hose he needed a new one anyway..
Honestly man i never was taught how to do this but after watching your video i got the confidence now thanks for this video life saver
That's awesome glad to hear it helped out

@@Joshuapeediddyinteresting, Will definitely do
Great lesson, after 73 years I learned ho to replace the brake pads in my 99 Chevy Silverado. Thank you for taking your time to help us.
If you open the brake fluid reservoir the caliper will come off easier. And just use a screwdriver no need to bang on it with a breaker bar.
put on of the old brake pads over the pistons and use the c clamp to push both pistons in evenly at the same time
Just make sure to remove the cap on the master cylinder
What about loosening the brake fluid reservoir when pushing in the pistons?

Yep i got em on my truck had to call it and go to the store
Just now discovered this. Now gotta run to the store
Same lol thought i had it all ready had to get my 55t
Mine only had t55 on one side lol
Bleeder is always on top of caliper. Air rises

When UA-cam teaches you more than a trade school. 😂😂😂
Thanks bud! Gonna tackle this myself instead of paying hundreds of dollars to someone else!
Hell ya
@@EverydayImTECHnIt I'm AMAZED what a difference new pads & rotors made on my 2000 Sierra 1500! Whole job done less than $150!
Facts!
I noticed the brakes weren’t bled, or if they were off camera? Is it mandatory i bleed my breaks before replacing brake pads or does it matter all the much ?
You don't need to bleed them if no hoses were iff

helped me out a lot 🤝 i’m slowly getting better at working on my truck for being 16 this video made it looks so easy

Was your rotor grooved?
That’s crazy I never knew it was that easy to change the breaks
Thank you used your video today to change my brakes Ty !
Heck ya glad it helped!!!
I replaced the pads and rotor because it was grinding when braking hard, even used brake lube an still have the same grinding. Any ideas?
Brake booster
Any videos on rear drum brakes
For anyone else looking for the c clamp size he said four inch about 6:50 mark.
Thank you very much my friend.
You video help me a lot
glad it helped!!!! :)
Are you using a 1.5 Ton Low-Profile Floor Jack in this video?
Nice video!!!
There's no way.. my 3 ton floor jack has a hard time lifting the front end up.
Mine has the stupid T55 bolts. Hard to get out
This video saved my fuckin life
I’m going to do it!
Very helpful. Thanks buddy
You forgot to say to take the cap off your brake fluid up top might thought you're supposed to do that
where is the rear brake demonstration ?????
thank you sir

Not the person to watch if you want to do it right.
How would the right way be?
a lil rugged def not the best way tho

Not to bad
Truck in video is a HD model. Non HD very different. Misleading.
Perfect👍😉
Flip that clamp around the other way so the c part is on the piston
Yeah 😎
No hate whatsoever
But I would love to show you how to properly do a brake job.

That jack gives me anxiety. Good little video though.
lol right & thx's
Next time use a brake pad to push the piston in
Amazon is not the cheapest! I'm a PRIME MEMBER too!
Lies. 2002 Silverado 1500 is a star bit. Just spent $50 on a socket set and took my wheel off to find out this video lied
Yep.. just found that out after I took off my damn wheel now I got to put it back on to go get a star bit!
Some have hex too
T55 $7.00 at advance

Old brake pad will smash both pistons and done. Lol
This guy wants Amazon to pay Him!!!
✌️✌️✌️
Dang lazy amateur
LOL NOOB
You didn't grease a damn thing before reassembly !
