This is something I learned a long time ago when working with vinyl. Plotters will cut EVERY PATH IN THE FILE, so make sure the the element you're cutting out has been simplified as much as possible without changing the shape.
Even easier way: combine the white sections by selecting them and using Compound Path. Merge all the orange shapes. Select all shapes and click 'Minus front' in the Pathfinder tool. Job's done
@@angelbear_og In theory it's an amazing tool. But as soon as your design gets too complicated or detailed it will prob slow you down more than anything
Selecting the subtract pen tool + holding shift and clicking on unwanted anchor points will erase them and keep the curve (works best for when you have multiple anchor points close to each other). Alternatively, you can use Smooth Tool, which will get you clean curves but not very accurate. It all depends on your curves. No pun intended.
Sometimes yes, particularly for larger segments. However, by simply uniting everything rather than going round and carefully checking the edges with the Shape Builder Tool (especially on more complex designs), it’s easy to combine parts that weren’t intended to be combined. It’s like yes, a knife can do the job, but sometimes a scalpel with more precision is required 👍
Goodmorning, I have a problem with illustrator which I’ve never had before. I made a document in illustrator sRGB, when I export it, colors embedded, to pdf or anything else, and I open this in a viewer, the colors become flat. When I sent the illustrator document to someone else and they open it in illustrator, the colors are flat too. I really don’t know what the problem is. My screen is calibrated in a good way, I think it’s something in the export or illustrator. I’ve tried several things. It has nothing to do with CYMK either. Is there anyone who can help me with this problem? Thank you! Kind regards, Trees
most of the designer make sharpe edge mistake due to which when you print them they are not up to the mark and mostly when you advertise them you make it in mass production so problem exist mostly when we try to cut it in any material they tend to break from pointy edges i am designer of corel draw and have 6 years of exp. in my field try to round the edges a little it gives structure strenght because in future you save a lot of time now days company not only design logo the also make them in solid material so try to done it professionally

Amen! Shapebuilder is more trouble than it's worth 99% of the time!

This is the video I've been looking for. Thank you sooo much. Started watching your content yesterday and immediately subbed
Awesome! Great to have you here 👍
Great to be here. Have already improved drastically with your tutorials @@ForeverDansky
I always make a copy and then expand the duplicate..
Yes 100% just in case anything goes wrong 👍😅
me too...
Definitely! Destructive vs. nondestructive editing. Always save backups.

shape builder tool is so necessary, I genuinely hope no one sends out logos like that Before version, its heartbreaking 😫
It would be much easier to use the Pathfinder - Merge option to combine all the similar colored shapes.
Came here to write the same thing. Select the orange, select same color, merge.

@@ForeverDansky Making unnecessary, tedious, timewasting work for yourself.
@@ForeverDansky Merge takes all same colors and merges them, in your example this would be a 100% faster way of doing this.
